I have never heard of bleaching without toning. Bleach turns hair yellow, then you add the toner you want for which shade of blonde you are trying to achieve. But if you are attempting to go platinum you def need to lighten again. You have to tone bleached hair.. Ask the workers at Sally about toners, or purple shampoo may work.

I personally don't tone my hair. The blue in the bleach lifts enough of the yellow for me, and when my hair dries down it looks even lighter. I've gone platinum and it wasn't a good color (or lack there of) on me, so I tend to like a more natural blond better. I ended up bleaching it again after this video so it is lighter now than it was.
