I ordered mine and installed it today, took me about 20 minutes. The installation was easy overall, thanks to this video. Gave me the confidence that this can be done easily without too many issues. The product works as expected. The install was smooth, up until the time to remove the panel at the 4:24 mark, that thing won't budge, I was able to remove the two front clips but it just doesn't want to separate from the back clips. I used a small fishing tool to pass the cable and connectors behind the panel and it worked. Was able to finish the install and now that feature has no chance of annoying me ever again. Well worth the purchase. Thank you!! This is an awesome product, thank you for making it available. Such a simple device that was obviously inspired by the loud frustrations of owners who disagree with a forced feature like this (instead of making it a setting that can be set as part of your preferences/profile).

Had the same issue on my 2025. Was able to unhook the top two clips pull out the panel enough to fish the power cord up and through the back. I did bend one of the clips when putting it back on and had to go back, bend the plastic tab back straight to get it back in the slot. Other than that, easy install and it works as designed.

I just installed the module, works perfectly and it took me about 45 minutes. I did not find it necessary to completely remove (just partially) and unplug the first large panel. Also, the small trim panel (4:24) was the toughest for me. I managed to push the locking clip down with my finger as I inserted the screw driver to pry off. I held off from doing this sooner, despite that feature really pissing me off! Once I saw in a comment that it does not mess with the computer and simply electronically engages the override I felt it was safe. I highly recommend it and it’s way cheaper than replacing batteries and starters! 😊

I agree with others that I was not able to remove the final trim panel at the 4:24 mark. I used about 12 inches of spare wire I had laying around and fished it down through the opening and then taped the plug to the end of the wire and pulled it back up and through. The plug was a bit too big to pull through the opening. I considered using a dremel tool to make the opening a bit bigger, but I was able to just take one of my plastic trim removal tools and move plastic near the opening just enough to pass the plug through. I spent over an hour trying to remove that last panel unsuccessfully, but the wire method took about 3 minutes. Don't waste your time trying to remove that panel and risk breaking a clip! The wireless charging panel was also a bit hard to remove but did eventually come out after several attempts. The other pieces were easy to remove.

Just installed it on my 1 month old Pilot. I can't stand the idle stop function! Removing trims wasn't too bad, clips and panels are pretty study with the new Pilot but still strike fear in me since its a brand new car. The only panel I couldn't remove was the last one. That last panel definitely didn't pop off like it did on the video and I did not want to break it. Had to resort to attach a piece of magnetic tape to the connector and fished it up with a magnetic pickup tool up to the power connector. If not for that I would probably got the job done in 60-90 minutes. It took me over 2 hours to complete the installation. At least now I don't have to deal with the idle stop function anymore!

Automakers know that this feature is universally disliked. There should be a programming fix built into the system that allows owners to disable the "feature" (nuisance) rather than having to go through the installation of an aftermarket piece that requires taking your car apart.

Like others I was having trouble getting that last piece of dash off at 4:24! I discovered I could just fish the wire through with just my hand. If you have bigger hands I would suggest just using a piece of wire to fish it through and save yourself the trouble of removing that last piece!

Thank you for adding these videos. Much better than just written instructions. We just purchased a new pilot and I just know that the idle stop is going to drive us crazy. Wish Honda would allow you to turn it off yourself but in the mean time a $100 part is worth the investment. Now I just need to get up the nerve and pull out the panels. This video will go a long way to helping me with that and will be on my phone as I do it.

I just finished installing this on my ‘23 Pilot. I can say that this product works exactly as described and I’m very pleased with it. In regards to the install, just know it will not go as smoothly or quickly as in this video. I assume a lot of this was done likely for demonstration purposes and is not a reflection on idlestopper, as no one would want to watch a 30-45 minute video of a guy struggling with interior trim pieces. Just be aware that this install is not as simple as depicted and be patient with the various clips. Don’t force anything. I strongly recommend getting a set of car interior plastic trim tools to assist you. The idlestopper does come with a plastic trim tool and it was very helpful, but there were a few clips that needed a slightly stronger trim tool. Personally, I found each trim piece to be more difficult than the last as I progressed through the install. I was unable to remove the final piece and after a substantial amount of time I decided to go another route. I ended up fishing the red wire behind and over the final trim piece. I found this significantly easier but it was a tight fit getting it through the openings. It is a solid product and I definitely recommend it.

You definitely need to focus a little bit more on how to release some of the clips. You said just pull on several of them, and that just resulted in them breaking, even though not a lot of force was used. I am not new and have been taking Hondas apart for many years now, but there aren’t clear diagrams on these yet unless you subscribe to Honda’s manual suite. Just a suggestion because I ran into some of the same issues putting Idlestopper on my Ridgeline as well. Overall though, helpful video and great product.

This product is great. Thanks for giving car owners a way to get around this evil and annoying EPA mandated auto stop-start design that defaults to the on position. Some criticism however. Your instructions at 4:30 are awful. The clips on the back of that piece break very easily. You show that once you loosen the two side clips you can yank hard on the piece to remove it. But doing so easily breaks the clips on the back of that piece.

Got it installed in about a hour in my 24 pilot elite. Strongly recommend having a plastic panel removal kit as the one included just isn’t enough. Had pain with: The shifter cover at the bottom left. Strongly recommend doing top right, then top left a little, then bottom left and then bottom right. the last plastic panel also was a pain. Ultimately got the two top brackets off using my fingers and three trim tools to get the left side off. Never got the right side off but didn’t need it. Also the wireless charge mat was a pain- needed 3 tools. Attacked right corner first with the cut out spot, one on the right side and one on the bottom. After getting right side, used my three tools with the 2 cut out spots and then a large wide one in the bottom middle.

The magical removal of the whole panel at 4:26 with one big pull after unclipping the front two clips is simply impossible and WILL result in breakage if attempted. This is a ridiculous misrepresentation and should not be in the video. I used a piece of stiff metal wire to fish the plug through the hole instead of attempting this after one of my tabs broke under very minimal pressure (stuck the wire down behind the panel then looped it around the plug and pulled it back up). Most of the instructions are a reasonable representation of what to do, but as others have said, you will be removing the pieces far more slowly if you’re not a professional. Lastly, you can test the system by turning your car on once all the idlestopper parts are plugged in but the climate control is not. You’ll see the idlestop disabled light come on then get an error message. This message will go away once you reconnect the climate control panel, but it’s reassuring to know it works before you do all the reassembly.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions! That panel isn’t the easiest but does come off without breaking if done carefully. The last thing we’d want is someone to damage or break anything on their new car. Wire fishing is a good suggestion and a great way to avoid this panel removal step altogether. We will update the video at some point once the pilots become more available and will certainly take your feedback into account.

I broke one of the rear clips of that panel after very, very gently pulling on it. I can only imagine how badly I would have busted it if I actually tried to just yank it out in one go like the video shows. Luckily it seems to be non-essential since it doesn’t really support any weight.

@idlestopper7486
@idlestopper7486 11 ай бұрын
Hello, sorry to hear that you are having trouble. The video for the installation was shot using a trailsport trim level so the removal should be exactly as shown. There are no screws holding the shifter panel down and only clips. The only suggestion I may have is to make sure the vehicle interior is very warm and it may soften the clips and plastic and allow for it to loosen easier. Definitely don’t want you to break any panels but I’m absolutely sure that it just unclips in the upward direction.

I know about the rolling down of all the windows at the same time. Is there any way to modify the windows so you can roll one window up or down with starting the car? Thanks for ordering and We hope you enjoy your idlestopper! For the window question, there’s no way to roll down a single window using the key fob or any other method without turning the ignition on. You are able to turn the ignition on without starting the vehicle to accomplish this. Just have your key fob in the drivers seat area and press the start button WITHOUT having your foot on the brake. This will put the vehicle into acc and ignition on mode but keep the engine from starting.

It is a bit more complicated but for good reason! The power outlet is a much better and more protected (fused) method for the module power source. The Amazon modules use an unprotected power source which in the event of module failure or short circuit will cause permanent damage to your vehicle. We’ve had several customers who have used the Amazon module and it has shorted out their idle stop switch or gauge control module and the switch assembly or gauge module had to be replaced ($$$) plus they had to pay expensive dealer for diagnostic fees. Our power source method and modules are completely safe and can in NO way cause any permanent harm to the vehicle. It’s well worth the extra time to connect the power socket and save yourself the money and hassle of having to replace some thing if it gets damaged by using the cheap Amazon modules.

Do you have to disconnect the battery? Would this void warranty?
@idlestopper7486
@idlestopper7486 Жыл бұрын
Hello, thanks for your interest! The battery does not need to be disconnected at all during the installation. You can disconnect the battery if you’d like but as long as the ignition is off completely during install all will be fine. As far as the warranty, The Idlestopper will NOT void your warranty. The manufacturer isn’t allowed to void your entire warranty legally because of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act law that was passed in 1975. At most, the dealer could deny a warranty claim on the factory idle stop switch itself as it is connected directly to the device (and that’s only if they can PROVE the Idlestopper was the fault) All other vehicle systems and parts would still be fully protected under your normal warranty and cannot be affected by you installing the Idlestopper module into your vehicle. The Idlestopper does not reprogram or change any vehicle settings. It simply presses the off button for you. Aftermarket parts are a normal part of the industry and manufacturers know it. Customers use many after market parts on their NEW vehicles: -Phone and usb adapters -drive cameras -radar scanners -wiper blades -tires -wheels These are just a few of the things that, by the above standard, can technically “void” parts of your warranty in a similar fashion to the Idlestopper. Example; If a phone charger adapter that you got from eBay shorts out and damages your power socket or fuse in your car then the manufacturer isn’t going to cover the repairs needed. Does not void warranty, just denied coverage to that specific repair. Example; If the Idlestopper shorts out and blows the power socket fuse in your vehicle then the manufacturer isn’t going to cover the repairs. Does not void warranty, just denied coverage for that specific repair. Example; If you put aftermarket tires and wheels on your new car and have issues with balance or vibration then the manufacturer isn’t going to cover the repairs if they are needed to the wheels or tires. Does not void warranty, just denied coverage for that specific repair.

Man, maybe I've just had bad luck removing interior trim in the past... but this feels risky. I really want this product, in your experience of creating and installing these, what is the frequency of breaking a plastic clip? Any tips to ensure that tabs/clips don't break (like pulling straight out or down or to a certain direction)? The last thing I want to do is bend/crack/break a clip on a brand new car and have a rattle for the rest of my ownership. Other than that, this product seems great! I guess getting that good MPG rating is more important to manufactures than the wear and tear on the components with auto start/stop.
@idlestopper7486
@idlestopper7486 Жыл бұрын
You are correct that the manufacturers are only worried about MPGs and getting their fuel mileage credits/ratings up at the expense of the driver and the vehicles parts(battery, starter, etc.) Most panel clips (especially when new) come out pretty easily and are robust enough to withstand being taken apart several times without losing holding strength or breaking. Tips for install would be just to take your time and don’t force anything to come loose. Direction of pull depends on clip orientation. All parts will come loose and not break if taken apart slowly. The location of the clips can be seen in the video for reference on where to pry/pull. You can also have a repair shop or Honda dealer install the module. We have many Honda dealer employees and customers who use our device and I haven’t heard of any issues with a dealer not wanting to install the idlestopper. Since our module is fully plug and play and requires NO modification, it doesn’t void or affect your new vehicle warranty. At most with the module installed, the dealer could deny a warranty claim on the power socket or idle stop off switch as these are the parts the module is directly connected to and that only of the idlestopper is the proven cause of the issue. Lastly, our module is designed not to fail in any way that could harm the vehicle, so this would be an extremely unlikely scenario. Hope this helps!

The installation is the trouble with this project. To install something that activates the LKAS would require a significant amount of vehicle interior disassembly and would not be manageable for most people. If we get more interest in the future we may pursue a LKAS module but for now we are focusing specifically on idle stop since it’s a huge problem and we can help the most in that area.

@idlestopper7486

The reason why we use the additional 12v and a few extra steps on installing is It’s stable and reliable power that is protected by a fuse. The “other” brand modules are performing a very risky operation. Using the power inline at the switch only can result in severe damage to your gauge control unit if the module were to fail or short circuit internally. Also the inline power is not consistent in every scenario and this can lead to the idle stop NOT being turned off sometimes. On our module, we make sure to only attach to a fused power source to prevent and protect your vehicle from any possible failure damage. At worst if the idlestopper failed or shorted internally, the 12v fuse would blow (easily replaced) and not your gauge module unit (cost would be in the thousands $$) . The last thing we’d want is to cause ANY possible damage or problems to your new vehicle. The “other” (Chinese) companies do not care about long term or consistent operations and do not fully protect your vehicle. They are more worried about selling you a product cheaply and then disappearing if you ever have an issue or have any problems with your product. The idlestopper is made with only quality vetted name brand parts, is built and assembled in the USA and we stand behind our product 100%. We provide a consistent, reliable product that will in NO possible way cause issues with your vehicle and will work EVERY TIME.

The factory idle stop system itself will hurt some parts of your car over time for sure. The batteries/starters suffer early failures and Honda now has a recall and warranty extension which also points to the factory system having problems. The best way to alleviate these problems is to install an idlestopper module or turn the system off yourself manually.
