OMG My parents took me here when I was very small, in the 1960's! That day is one of my happiest memories ever. Thank you for this!

I'm 67. 60 years ago this was the special trip on our way from Pittsburgh to Baltimore. I recall it so fondly. It was quiet, there were no rides - strictly walk-through. Just what little kids needed instead of the hyperactivity of amusement parks like Kennywood. I was always sure I might spot elves or fairys in the woods. Thanks for the memories.

Oh, how fun to see that Story Book Forrest is still there! We have home videos from the early '60s. I will upload clips when I find the DVD that's packed away somewhere!

Thanks for posting this video. There are so few Storybook Forests left these days and I'm glad I got to see one for the first time. There were quite a few of these places in Florida (where I live). Unfortunately, they were all closed by 1974 when Walt Disney World opened in 1972. I was born in Coral Gables, FL in 1974, a farming comuntiy at that time just south of Miami, FL. It's nice to know a little piece of American History is still around

My grandparents used to take us there in the early/mid 70s. What a wonderful place it was. I've lived in Chicago my entire life but I hope to get back there one day .

Guess it was the late summer of 1956 when I was here. I have never forgotten it and the high school sweetheart who was with me.

My parents took my sister and me there in the early 70's. One of the few things i remember was a big spider overhead, at the entrance maybe. Does anyone remember this? Scared me as a kid

Wow, good memories! Reminds me of the year my mom told me there were Copperheads in the ball pit..haha Great Times!

Wow!! Since you made this video, the park has been in sad disrepair!! As of last summer (2015) buildings needed painted and they no longer play the nursery rhyme songs!! Also, dressed characters are few and far between!!! Supposedly, this summer, they have rebuilt the castle and maybe painted some. We'll see!!!

Yes it is sad. Some teens apparently vandalized the place and pulled out the radio that played the music and destroyed the mice with the cheese. Some storms happened and destroyed a lot.

I wish that I wasn't afraid of theme parks.Idlewild was always the one that we went to. I didn't know that story book forest was this long. it looks very fun. But there are other fun things besides theme parks too.
