I said when this came out, Next should have transferred the women straight away to work in the warehouse. If the judgement says the jobs are same, with the same value, then they can spend some time working in the warehouse. Same with the council cleaners who argued they should get paid the same as the refuse workers as they are the same job. Ok ladies, you will spend the next year on the bins. They have bankrupted some councils with these judgements. I realise it's not this simple, but they need to challenge this stupidity.

Force, coercion. They love to talk about the "non aggression principle" but they know the business class collectively has any number of means to coerce people. The vast oversupply of labour due to mass immigration being one of them. Eviscerating unemployment benefits being another

i had some idiot trainer lecture me on equality as if i didnt know what equality was i knew exactly what equality is its one of my speciality subjects the difference is they changed what equality means when i studdied equality it was equality of opportunity: everyone gets the same opportunities to excell as everyone else in a wheelchair? well get you a ramp and move your desk cant get to work well figure out work from home were going to give you the tools to let you compete at the same level as everyone else but ultimatly its all down to you the new school is equality of outcome: your disadvantaged so im going to just give you the rewards so on paper everyones equal the guy with 1 leg who cant deliver as many packages as the guy with 2 legs is getting the same pay even though his output is less or worse yet we dont have alot of female managers so were going to turn down this highly qualified manager in favour of this less qualified one because there a woman i happily failed that course because im not going to support discrimination of any kind

I worked in a Morrisons warehouse for two weeks. It was the most mind numbing job I've ever had and like most I couldn't hack it. It was also physically intense and an overall onslaught on the body and mind. The conditions are awful, cold dark, lonely despite the hectic environment. It's well paid for these reasons. To compare this to working in a shop is a false equivalence

Surely it's not even equal value. If a warehouse shuts down you will eventually have nothing to sell in any of your shops supported by that warehouse. If a shop shuts down that shop alone will not be selling anything. This is forgetting the very simple fact that people working in a warehouse have a lot of dangerous things they may be doing or around them.

In Australia this is called the Boilermaker argument. The absolutely universal male argument is to get paid like a Boilermaker you should get trained as one and do that job. Not having an equal chance of getting that job is sexist. Not wanting to do that job, being trained as a childcare worker and getting paid less money is not.

Maybe companies and other, should force equal numbers of men and women into every role (irrespective of how discretionary that would be) to stop this type of case happening.

In them cases cited of equal worth perhaps the answer is that the employees can be azoto either role ie mrs jones on the shop floor can be required to go and work in the warehouse for a few months or permanently after all both jobs are apparently the same.

Next's wage dispute was an equivalence argument, just because one group was predominantly male and the other female doesn't seem to be relevant. You could maybe argue that it is indirect sex discrimination but I struggle how you can take it further. This may be hilarious if someone starts comparing between lower roles and leadership roles and what they do...etc. Maybe top level pay could be massively threatened if they actually look at the work being done.

Spending gap, not pay gap! Why do we go to work? To earn money or have money to spend? Few of us have piles of cash at home, most spend the vast majority of their earnings. So spending is the real reason to work. Men earn more, that is undeniable - but who spends more? Men or women? Goto your local mall. There are more stores and more floor space dedicated to women's purchases than men's. Far more. The store owners know women spend more. How is this economic miracle achieved? Earn less, spend more! Women are spending money they did not earn, they are spending some of the money men earned. Who is more oppressed - A man working to earn money he will never spend or a woman spending money she did not have to earn? The spending gap is the real inequality, not the earning gap! Yet women are silent ...I wonder why?

Need to pay women equal amounts for the same job, need to pay women equal amounts for different jobs, need for the collective earnings of women to be equal to men even if less women work than men, need for at least 50% of women to be in higher paying jobs where they cannot be assessed on performance. Result: The average woman is paid significantly more for the same job to equalize the collective payments, the average woman is forced into jobs where they aren't fireable meaning that the majority of the work is done by men who are also paid less, every woman who is paid more and given jobs they do not do will be told how wonderful, powerful, and independent they are. Any men who complain are fired as bigots. The response to this dystopia? Women and men are now equal, nothing further to be addressed. Now let's make sure that trans-women are equally represented since they are less than 50% of each workforce.

The logic is perverse and produces perverse results. If you want to know why America central cities are such wastelands, this is why. Everyone knows the motto "Location! Location! Location!" However, back in the mid-50s, the Supreme Court ruled that the location of a parcel of land was immaterial to its value. The ruling thus allowed the authorities to ram freeways through the heart of American cities at tolerable cost to taxpayers. States would buy parcels of land close to city centers, and pay the owners - typically Black householders - not what they would have sold for on the market, but what a similar parcel in the countryside would go for.
