Fransisco ... great video!! I have a 328i N20 with 54k miles. Cylinder 4 misfires only on start up- it count us to 2 or 3 and I can feel the misfire for a few seconds, then the misfire goes away. Replaced coil, spark plugs, and injector but no luck. Any suggestions? Thank you!

hi buddy i have the same f30 328i ,but mine only broke the piston rings, it doesn't build up compression..do i need to take out the engine or what's your advice to fix it easy and smart???

just had my missfire at cylinder 4, turned out it shows 20psi during compression test. Had to rebuild my engine, does stage 2 also culprit for tis blown piston?

I replace my injector on my n20 engine and I reuse decoupling from old injector now car don’t want start and I have low compression on 4 cylinder 60 psi can that cost a low compression issue?

You have to use new decoupler and teflon seal. Everytime

I really need help i have the same engine an n20 with the same problem a misfire on cylinder 1 ( swaped coil spark plugs injectors...) nothing happend, did a compression test same compression at all cylinder 176 psi all across, even the dealership bmw cant diagnose the problem am really stuck here

Hello, we have the same problem. I changed the injectors, coils, spark plugs, even the high-priced fuel pump and the compression is 180 181 and I still have the problem.

This just happened to me on my 428i x drive grancoupe only 53K miles on it.. it’s really sad that these n20 engines don’t last up to at least 80K miles.. 🤦🏻 but I’m getting a new bmw the cars are just way to fun but old engines are the worst ! Getting a m340i 2022

While doing a compression test on 2015 328ixdrive n26 the first piston It would not hold but 75psi. I could hear the air coming out from the turbo turbine, where it receives air from the filter. I did a compression test on each one of the pistons but this is the only one I had a problem with. So then I did a down leak test and I could hear the air coming out of the turbo turbine, where it receives air from the filter. All the other pistons were OK. Can somebody please help answer the question problem that I have?

Hi Francisco, my 2014 328i has a similar problem, no compression on cyl#3 . I opened the engine and looked at cylinder number 3. There is no scoring or any wall damage, but it's not holding oil in the cylinder when I did an oil test (poured 5w30 motor oil on cyl#2 and #3). Cylinder #2 holds motor oil while cyl#3 drain all oil to the pan. You think I can just replace the rings alone and fix the compression issue ?

Yeah on the N20 engines they have some issues with the ring lands, prolly because of poor maintenance in the past or following the manufacturers oil interval which they say is 10,000 miles!!!! Should be done every 5,000 miles on full synthetic oil with the ACEA A3/B4 oil spec. I run AMSOIL Euro Formula 0W-40 and I run still 7500 miles on it.

@@DuckMcDuckinson I later opened the engine and pulled the piston #3 out. A piece broke below the rings and all rings except the top compression ring was in pieces. Dunno if it was poor material quality of the piston or overboost created by the dinan sport tune

Hi, my bmw m4 doesn’t start, I found the vanos bolt was loose and I have no compression at all. Do you think it’s cheaper and easier to replace the engine? Or to rebuild this engine? Thanks

Because I’m an idiot and it gained about 70hp , same thing happened to me about a week ago on 51k miles , my fault now when bmw quoted 13000 miles for a new engine
