I think, the keyword in the question is 'reduces'. He did say "did you know recycling reduces the demand for raw materials? (hence you can make more glasses from the cullet than starting from scratch using the basic ingredients). He did continue on saying "There is no shortage of the material used but they do have to be quarried from the landscape. So from this point of view, there are enviromental advantages to recovering and recycling glass". (recycling glass does leads to eviromental friendly benefits, but it does not 'reduces' the need for people to be enviromentally, sounds a bit weird to me).
