Hii Chris thank for sharing this type of video. If you don't mind I'm going to give you my french point of view according what I heard. Brendan must have some good listening skill. However, as far as his speaking skill it's a bit limited. Into his speech a brunch of words are really similar to French language were used. It's not a bad point, but according your brand 8 you gave him, I guess and I expect to him to be get rid of much more from his conforte area (French/English words). Then he might use more idiom and this kinds of stuff. Keep it up Brandon you will be amazing along the way :D.

Hi Chris, I watched most of your speaking videos and I’m aware that one of the most common feedback you give to students is not to give short answer, to elaborate. Well, I took the test last month and while I’m trying to elaborate more the examiner stopped me a couple times in part 1 by saying “thank you “so that’s cut me off and messed up, I only got a band 6 for speaking.
@IELTSDaily2 жыл бұрын
Hi Esperanza. Thanks for sharing your experience and sorry you didn't get the score you need. It's very common for examiners to cut you off during speech. The idea is that you should not give short answers because they will not allow you to show off your skills. If you're not happy with your speaking score, we recommend applying for an EOR. If you do, make sure you ask for all sections to be remarked (not only speaking).
@esperanzaperez52662 жыл бұрын
@@IELTSDaily thank you for replying I am not going to apply for EOR I will just retake the exam as I don’t think I did well in part 2 and 3 either. So it may not be changed . Anyway appreciate your advice

And yet again you advise speaking quickly in order to achieve a higher band score, as "speech speed" seems to be an assessment criteria, according to your words, sir. If that was the case, my dear thespians Sir Christopher Lee and Johnny Depp would never got a score equivalent of proficiency level, simply because of their speech speed (they tend to speak rather slowly), which is absurd and ridiculous, since both of them are well-learnt and intellectual guys. Christopher Lee would never had the opportunity because he passed away nearly 10 years ago.
@IELTSDaily24 күн бұрын
It is true that many native test takers do not score 9.0 because they are not prepared to speak at length, and develop topics appropriately. They may use "lazy" pronunciation features, or may make grammar slips uncharacteristic of native speakers. Our job is to try to help test takers achieve their desired score. If you have concerns about the test, take it up with one of the test owners. We just make free content to help students.
@IELTSDaily24 күн бұрын
You're fighting the wrong fire 🔥
@ismaelrosa809124 күн бұрын
@@IELTSDaily I'm not fighting anyone or anything, I just state that speed as such is not an assessment criteria. And the examiner/commentator that appears in many of your videos drills into the idea of speech speed as if it was an assessment criteria or something, when it is not. If that were the case, my aforementioned dear thespians, who tend to speak at a rather slow pace simply because that's the way they are, would never got the maximum score. Obviously, developing a topic appropriately and not having egregious grammatical errors nor notorious slips are basic if you want to achieve a great score. But speed itself it is not, by any manner of means, an assessment criteria or something of vital importance. P.D.: Christopher Lee and Johnny Depp do not like that 🧐 😝

This is my answer to the first question of Speaking part 3: WELL...this is really a tough question...But to the best of my knowledge, the young generations have their advantages when speaking of communication. You know, they're encouraged to join social activities in their schools, their clubs, or even their neighborhoods at their early ages, as opposed to adults or the elderly who are often dedicated to their jobs or their personal lives and thus have little time for communication.
@IELTSDaily2 жыл бұрын
Interesting thanks for sharing
@ismaelrosa809122 күн бұрын
My question is whether that answer would have come out so naturally and spontaneously under real exam conditions, because when we write we normally give ourselves time to rummage through our vocabulary archives in our brain, which does not happen when speaking whatsoever.

From a French native speaker, yes we literally say that pictures "sleep" in our phone when we don't look at them or use them anymore. However, I want to say that his french accent is very awful to hear and almost impacts the understanding. It doesn't show real efforts to try speaking English fluently ...
@sebastienb.32 Жыл бұрын
And also replaying the session, I feel it very awkward. First this candidate NEVER made eye contact with the examiner and always spoke for himself, looking on the sides. Secondly, during part 2, he never looked up but stared at his notes the entire 2 minutes. Then, the way he is talking is not very respectful (like while explaining Stonehenge, repeating constantly the last words of each question) nor well structured (lots of pause, blank times, hesitation...) Lastly, the pace of his speech is soooooo slow, I respect the examiner's patience. To me, and compared to other mocks, this is only a 6-6.5 band.

Question 1 part 3, Well, I’ve never thought to this before, but If I have to single out a specific group I would probably say the young generation , I guess we call them generation Z. Although I’m part of them, I’m extremely impressed by our capacity to engage with many people and especially foreigners. We do so without any fear and we speak freely, which is great. And I also believe that it is not only a cultural matter as I was able to discuss with a girl, a charismatic one, with who I’m still in touch and every single word she pronounces is captivating

Hi Ashot. Thanks for watching our videos. To answer your question, you should avoid giving both very long and very short answers for part 1. You should to answer the question in less than a minute but not in 5 seconds. Try to be detailed but don't prolong your answers when unnecessary.
