This is the case because majority of the people nowadays want privacy due to the reason that they want to focus more on themselves to build a better future and personality. However, living alone can lead to various bad impacts which can be having problems with socializing, having no one to share their problems which can ultimately lead to depression. The first reason why people prefer living alone is to maintain privacy in their lives . I think it's a negative development because living alone affects mental well-being as a lonely person can easily get bored and negative thoughts attack more when no one is around. So, the outcomes can be certainly devastating causing depression and even suicidal thoughts

Nowadays in many urban areas, majority of people tend to live by themselves. This is because people are migrating to the other side of the city to get the specific education which they wanted to get degree on which they cannot find in their city I think this have more positive sides as it gives us experience to live alone and helps to learn basic as a cooking and paying the bills

Nowadays many people reside lonely in urban areas because of various reasons such as increase in the cost of living , educational purposes and occupational causes . It has a lot of advantages and disadvantages.This essay will focus on the pros and cons do dwelling alone in a metropolis. Many youngsters wish to migrate to metropolitan areas owing to the opportunities of their career growth.Due to this, many cities are thickly populated and area of accommodation is reduced .This results in the increase in the price of apartments , many people cannot afford this .So many professionals keep their family at their village and stay alone in the city, so that they can manage the cost of living in the city.On the other hand some Lowell alone in the town to enjoy freedom, to get privacy and to become more independent. Residing alone in the city has a plethora of benefits.First , we can cut the expenditure of living .For example,one of my friends, he is an engineer and had been living in the Cochin city with his wife and children for many years. He was struggling to find enough money for rent and education of his children .So he sent his family to his native place and changed his accommodation to a nearby hostel .Now he can save a lot of money and help his family in a much better way than before.Another benefit is that ,people becomes more independent ,they learn how to cook,wash clothes and keep their room more neatly.For instance, because of my studies as well as my work, I stay alone in a city for many years.Therefore I learned culinary art and started to arrange my clothes and room in a better way, before all these work were done by my mother. However,staying alone has lots of disadvantages too.The bond between family members especially children may decrease gradually.A person who stay alone has less friends to communicate, so if any adversities happens there would not be anyone to speak.This may lead to various psychological ailments .A recent study shows that mental illnesses such as depression and schizophrenia is more among person who live alone than who stay with their family In conclusion ,living in the city is a passion for many people.The advent of Internet and development in transportation such as metro and bullet train has reduced the distance between city and village.One can enjoy the city life by staying at home with their family in their native place with the help of modern technology.

Thanks for this video Chris! While watching, I was 90% sure Group 2 is the correct one, and I'd like to share why. For me personally, even after seeing your ideas, it's kinda difficult to talk about reasons people want to be independent, or get privacy, or be away from family.... the most straightforward answer, that comes out of statistics (imho) would be - more people want to study abroad (or get job assignments) thus end up living alone on their own. Would be very interested to hear from you, why would that not be a good response, obviously if written in a good structure. Thanks!

Hi Chris, thank you for this lesson. I happen to choose "Group 2" when practicing the question. I feel like my idea is answering the question correctly. Could you please review the following? Cities tend to have a high influx of people moving in for better jobs and education, as they are the centers of advancement. These people are usually focused on to start their life in the new place as fast as possible so that they can achieve their final goal. However, due to the lack of platforms for finding a suitable housemate in an unfamiliar place, most people usually end up living alone. There are advantages to living alone, which primarily includes privacy, independence, and drama-free life. After coming home from a stressful day, nobody likes to get taught as to when to close the bathroom doors, how high should be the TV volume, and how to do the dishes properly. So, living alone seems to be the best option. However, there are some disadvantages which come with living alone. As a single house owner, one has to pay for electricity, gas, trash, rent, etc. on his own, which tends to be more expensive than sharing a place. Also, sometimes, it is nice to have in-person conversations to share things about daily lives to relieve mental stress. In my opinion, it is better to live alone as it gives the perfect balance between living life by rules to living life with freedom. However, I do see a lot of potentials in platforms like roommate.com and facebook.com, which can solve the problem of finding suitable companions in the cities. To conclude, it is up to the individuals to perform their analysis to make a decision, and it seems like - living alone is the prominent choice in cities.

There is a new trend in cities these days and it is that people prefer to reside alone. I am of the opinion that this has a good impact, because it allows people the privacy they need as they become independent. Living alone allows a person the privacy and space needed to grow and develop in a dynamic world. For example, a person who lives alone can think independently, go out and come back at their own time, as well as live within their budget without having to worry about dependants. Secondly, Living alone at an early age helps develop one's sense of responsibility. For example, Young adults who live alone after college take up paid employment because they have bills to pay. Residing alone makes you the captain of your own ship. In conclusion, I am of the view that living alone is such a good development in the life of the youth of any city because it builds them to value commensurate work, reduce voluntary unemployment, and reduce the dependant population of young adults who live with the parents.

Nowadays, in many cities around the globe, more and more people are opting to live alone. This is a common yet special phenomenon faced by us. The root can be that most of us find it difficult to find a balance between or personal goals and social commitments. There is strong opinion which advocates that this is pushing the planet further into an abyss of loneliness. The seeds to this issue are multiple. The most predominant one being the general break down in our ability to sustain meaningful relationships/. The bigger the metropolitan, the more we are focused on our personal interests only. Previously three was a crowd, now two is. All of are losing the art of adjustment and tend to get hurt too fast and then withdraw into a shell. Another factor can be our upbringing where our parents are not teaching us to adjust even to our siblings, leave alone our classmates. The possible offshoots can be more negative than positive. Though we can enjoy the freedom and independence that a solitary existence can give, however it can be only temporary. Basically each human is a social animal. We need family and friends to be us and share our lives with to feel fulfilled. We want to come back home and spend time with a loved one more than anything else. The rising rate of suicide among well to do singles is an indicator. All said and done, on one hand, it is mainly the breakdown of the family as a unit, coupled with unbridled ambition that is pushing most denizens of cities to live alone, on the other hand after the first flush of excitement and novelty of living alone wears off , this can prove to be really depressing. I too am inclined to be at par with this view.

The number of people who prefer to live alone in many urban areas are getting increase recently. The main reason is because they want to be independent as they start a new life in the city. In my point of view, this trend could lead some drawbacks such as loneliness and depression. In current times, many people in the cities such as workers and college students feel more comfortable for living alone because they want to be independent. This could encourages individuals to overcome many problems by themselves so they will become stronger in the future. In Indonesia, for instance, students from rural areas who want to get a higher education have to move to the cities. Many of them prefer living in a single room rather than living in a shared house because they want to learn how to become independent. On the other hand, living alone may cause a loneliness especially for someone that introvert. They might feel isolated and have no one to talk to. This could lead to a bigger problem such as depression. In the UK, more than 80% people who live alone suffer a loneliness and have higher risk to get a depression. This is become a serious problem that should be tackled by the society. In conclusion, people want to stay alone mainly because they want to be independent. However, a loneliness could be the negative effect following this trend. So, people who live alone should be kept in touch with other people to avoid feeling lonely.

Many people live alone in cities. There are number of reasons why this is happening. In this essay, I will highlight the reasons and the advantages and disadvantage of this situation. One main reason why people live alone is due to the ability to have the personal lifestyle freedom. For instance, the way of decorating a room, or even sleeping or waking up late. It does give the person that kind of happiness that when you live in a big house or shared house you may lack. This has a number of advantages and disadvantages. One of the advantages is that you may control your own expenses whether on household purchases or other unnecessary expenses. Another advantage is that you will enjoy having your own privacy. No one is there bothering you and asking personal questions. In addition, you may invite your friends over to have fun and enjoy your spare time together, instead of going out all the time. However, the main disadvantage is that you might put quite a lot of money in renting your own room rather than sharing the rent. In addition, the quite high cost of utilities which could be a burden. In conclusion, having a solo lifestyle is a blessing to have which helps individuals to learn more of how to deal with hardships.
