Written and produced by Charles Farewell
24 bits - studio master
Charles Farewell has been producing tracks as Asura since 1996, back when it was Farewell and Vincent Villuis that made Asura a duo project. Since that time, Villuis left Asura in 2001 to start his Aes Dana project and re-brand Infinium Records into Ultimae Records. Two other members Christopher Maze and Alex Ackerman came and went as well. Since 2005, Farewell continues to make music as Asura on his own.
In 2000 Asura released the album "Code Eternity" which gave the artist worldwide exposure and also put Ultimae Records on the map (first under the name Infinium Records). The first edition of "Code Eternity" was released on Infinium, but was later re-issued on Ultimae the following year with new artwork. That release really got the ball rolling immediately for Ultimae which had a major web presence thanks to their slick design and fantastic early releases by the likes of Solar Fields, Aes Dana, and Asura, along with the new compilation series "Fahrenheit Project". I jumped on board with this label in 2002 and bought every CD from them and they haven't slowed down since.
This track "Everlasting" comes from Farewell's 4th album release on Ultimae "Radio Universe" released in late 2014, however the track was previously released on DJ Zen's Altar Records label in 2010 on the compilation "Ether" and later included on the compiled Altar album "Oxygene". This "Album Edit" is about 30 seconds longer than the previously released version. In my opinion this is easily the most accessible track Farewell has ever produced with simple music box melodies and a rousing and uplifting chorus. This track really marks the beginning of a new progression for Asura, and shows he can do a lot more than just make Psybient or Downtempo Trance tracks. Truly a remarkable piece of music from an outstanding album.
When making this video I didn't know what I was going to fill it with so I decided to go with sort of a discography for the albums released on Ultimae and the compilations on Altar and the "Oxygene" album, along with some pics of Farewell also. This track is the 24 bit version available through Ultimae's bandcamp page. This version comes direct from the studio master.
Making the title graphics for this in photoshop was a blast, the title image cover art really looks expanded like it would be naturally, I am very pleased with how the title screen came out. I will be uploading another track from the album shortly.
