Buddha himself strongly encouraged people to be skeptical of his teachings, and to test the principles for themselves in their daily lives to see if it they are true or not. Buddha also encouraged his Bhikkhus to question everything, including his own teachings. Critical thinking is very important in Buddhism. Although Islam was a religion since the creation of Adam (pbuh), the final messanger of Allah (peace be upon him) was revealed the Holy Quran. The evidence is the Quran. There were sooo many prophecies, signs and miracles, but as a scientist, my favorite are the scientific ones. The Quran was sent 1400 years ago in a desert. It describes the Big Bang, Embryology, that salty and regular water dont mix in the ocean, that the Sun rotates around the axis, that planets have orbits and Im just scratching the surface of the iceberg. If you want more proof, learn about the Quran and google the video - scientific miracles in the Quran

He put forward a practical solution (and it does work) for dealing with dukkha. It doesn't automatically stop you having faith in a god or whatever. That's up to you..... Here is the difference: Budhism can be experienced. It's not faith based. You dont have to believe anything. That's why there is such a emphasis in ignorance and understanding. You don't even have to make a vow. And it could surely be viewd in a purely secular manner. Buddha wanted to end (psychological suffering). And he did. Now days we can see the brain changes in people that practice meditation. So if you DONT believe in buddha and you practice what he taught you will arive in the same conclusions he did. In some sense he was the first psychologist in the world. Whereas for muhammed you have to convert otherwise you will die.
