Ierapetra is the biggest town in the south - eastern part of Crete. Located on the southern coast of Crete, (on the coast of the Libyan Sea). It is the southernmost city of the European continent. It lies south of Agios Nikolaos and southwest of Sitia. Above the port of Ierapetra dominates impressive Venetian Castle (Castel Gerapetra), which are preserved in very good condition. Iereapetra lies on the long beach of the same name (Ierapetra Beach).

Ierapetra jest największą miejscowością w południowo-wschodniej części Krety. Położona jest na południowym wybrzeżu Krety, (na wybrzeżu Morza Libijskiego). Jest najdalej wysuniętym na południe miastem kontynentu europejskiego. Leży na południe od Agios Nikolaos i na południowy zachód od Sitia. Nad portem w Ierapetra góruje imponujący Wenecki Zamek (Castel Gerapetra), który zachował się w bardzo dobrym stanie. Ireapetra leży przy długiej plaży o tej samej nazwie (Ierapetra Beach).
