Finally, I found the original. 😅 Crazy. This song evolved throughout the years...
@EneriGiilaan2 жыл бұрын
Well - this is indeed the "original" of this specific song - (supposedly) composed by Teppo Jalas in 1930's. However the "Ievan Polkka" most of the interwebs loves has the same lyrics - but a totally different melody (a hundreds of years old folk tune) to which these lyrics were written in 1920's by Eino Kettunen.
@whoareyou6211 Жыл бұрын
@@EneriGiilaan wait, im confused. If the lyrics were written by Eino Kettunen for the finnish folksong, then why are the same lyrics being used for a different tune? Did Teppo Jalas compose the tune of this specific recording or was it something else?
@EneriGiilaan Жыл бұрын
@@whoareyou6211 This is indeed confusing. But this is my understanding based on what I have been able to gather. 1) Eino Kettunen wrote these lyrics in 1920's. 2) The lyrics were supposedly written to the age old Finnish folk tune. The melody we are familiar with e.g., from the numerous other KZbin videos. This information is from the data available from Suomen Äänitearkisto - Finnish Recording Archive. 3) The song here is composed by Teppo Jalas in 1930's. 4) This 1937 recording of the Jalas' song by Matti Jurva and the Ramblers (BTW very popular Finnish band by the time) uses Kettunen's lyrics. 5) The oldest recording of the 'genuine' match with the old Folk melody and the lyrics is by Jorma Ikävalko from 1950. But as said - this is my current understanding - I might be wrong (has happened before).
@whoareyou6211 Жыл бұрын
@@EneriGiilaan Thanks for the explanation. As far as I understand, this is the oldest recording of a song that used Eino Kettunen's lyrics, while originally, Kettunen wrote the lyrics for a different tune that was made way longer ago, but the Ramblers made their own song and made a recording of it, using Ievan polkka's lyrics. Do you know by any chance what the oldest recording of Ievan polkka is that uses its original tune? And didnt the melody originally come from Savitaipaleen polkka until Kettunen renamed it?
@EneriGiilaan Жыл бұрын
@@whoareyou6211 To my knowledge the oldest recording with the trad. tune is that from 1950 by Jorma Ikävalko. Savitaipleen Polkka is indeed the same (or at least very similar) tune - and seems to be the older name. I don't know whether Kettunen renamed the song or if it went by different names before that already. However - neither of the names could be the 'original' name of the melody - as it is older than Polka dance/music that was introduced only in the mid 1800's (if I remember correctly).

@@robloxianbloxy6247 to be fair, they don't use the original melody (but a later one), and they don't use the Finnish lyrics but instead use the bridge from Loituma's version (the bridge is basically improvised sounds, so no Finnish words). So no part of Miku's version is copied from this song.

@@opluvia i dont agree that people were better, back then racism and anti semitism was big, the quality of life was more harsh which made people tough but not always in a good way. sure some people were living their lives with wife 2 kids house and a car, but take europe for example, times were hard because of the war, many people lost everything. the modern age has alot of problems for sure but i think overall alot more people are happier. i think its a big misconseption that back then everything was about jazz and partying and being happy. because people nowdays can get a education way more easily, it opens alot more possibilities for alot more people, and better quality of life makes a happier life.

English Lyrics: From Nuapuri, the pace of the poloka is heard My leg wasched. Eve's mother guarded her girlfriend But yes, Eve talked about it, For we will not be bothered by the bans then When we also danced to the broad side. Salivili hips tufts dots pimples drip slowly. Eve's mouth was on wheat Congratulations. The head was wet on everyone And the violin it wobbled and buttered. This is not the case with wetness Sillon ko lands on a wide edge. Salivili hips tufts dots pimples drip slowly. Eve's mother in it's chamber Hymns to sing a hoax, With this boy next door the mother-in-law's gavel. And this is not disturbed by mother-in-law Sillon ko lands on a wide edge. Salivili tufts of spots pimples drip slowly. There was a flattery after the call I got fired once. The house is full of these quarrels And Eve is already sobbing. I'll tell Eve what's wrong with it Even more wide. Salivili tufts of spots pimples drip slowly. I tell my mother-in-law to bite I don't swallow that much. Suat piston ite even from west to east But I will not give up Eve, For this is not the case with sobering Sillon ko dances from wide to wide. Salivili tufts of spots pimples drip slowly.

That´s not a good translation. From Nuapuri (nuapurista=naapurista) is in English "From the neighbor/next door; Eve´s mouth was an weet (Eevan suu oli vehnäsellä) should be in English: "Eve was smiling"; Sillon ko (silloin kun) is in English "When", and so on... Das Lied wurde Anfang der 30er von Eino Kettunen geschrieben. Die Melodie ist ein traditioneller finnischer Polka, der dem russischen Volkslied "Смоленский гусачок" (Der kleine Gänserich von Smolensk, u. a. hier zu hoeren: /watch?v=0jw0w4piV_g ) aehnelt. Man kann sie bis ins 18. Jahrhundert zurueckverfolgen, aber sie ist wahrscheinlich noch um einiges aelter.
