In some cultures, especially Latin cultures, this is considered a friendly gesture. It's not always a test or romantic gestures. In contrast, a Asian woman (who did not grow up in western culture) does not hug unless she's romantically interested

I only met one of my exes on winter 2019-2020 just once. I know she wanted me back, but i couldn't take her back. She already has 2 children with another man. 3:18 a girl that goes to school with me did give me that kind of hug but she did it 3 times and all 3 of them were in public 2 outside and 1 in the gym when it was my last day of 8th grade may 2023 & November 2023 we went golfing together for a field trip and I still remember everything about those days so I think that’s connection, I’m not sure tho she did say she wasn’t looking for a relationship!

What about when I support someone else's team in a big game. When I supportively chant with her the team's chant, (first meeting her there and then), she asks if I'm from that city. I explain that I've got university friends who are. She asks if I want to see her tattoo. Imagining that it might be a little something on her arm, and she lifts her jersey to show a the team's logo (the size of a softball) on her oblique. She asks to hug and pulls me I'm for a hug (heads resting on rachother's shoulders) as she asks "We're going to win right?", and I said "I hope so." (not 100% sure if this is just her sports fandom).
