The cool thing about this alternative scenario is that I can totally see Azula helping Korra in LOK in Republic City. By Azula's talent in psychology, investigation/tracking, interrogation and strategy she can definitely be well suited as a profiler heading up a task force for the RC Police. She'd be retired and serving as a consultant for Chief Lin Beifong and Tenzin especially tracking down Amon and Tarrlok. this is very well thought out. i love how people can take this and spin it so subtly and make it make sense. Azula not understanding how to love would add an extra weight to her and make her even more compelling. although there is still one problem with aang. One thing i notice with airbenders is the consistence with bondage. when they choose a bison its a lifetime bond, i can't remember if there are other references to that but i think the trope is once aang set his eyes on katara he would continue to pursue or die alone

Asula is a good match because it would force the romance with Aang to to be on the back burner a bit. Allowing for more focus on the plot instead romance of between children. Also, I think they match together because one, Aang could help heal Azula's mental state and two, Azula would help Aang grow up in stead of coddling him like Katara did. I just think it would have better in the story.

That’s the entire point of his character arc, he learns to mature and become a fully realized avatar. Also you say it would put the romance on the back burner, when Aang and Katara were on the back burner 2, and would have more development compared to a hypothetical Azula and Aang since they share little to no screen time together. Azula is more of a villain for zuko than Aang, and in that case she did not need a redemption in the show, she’s like a parallel to zuko in the sense that she’s the complete opposite of his arc. Adding a romance would convolute the story more, there is no room for it, and will ultimately lead to little fulfilling payoff. Making her be in love with any of the main cast would worsen her as an antagonist and a threat and would go against her cold and calculating character

One of the things I like about this video is that the romance doesn’t actually occur until after the story ends. Other than that, it’s mostly just encouraging the characters toquestions themselves. You know, there is an easy solution to make this not just believable but also make it less shoehorned in: 1. Make Aang older with a muscular body frame like the dude she liked at the beach episode. This will sell the physical attraction angle. 2. Thus because of the abpve, make Aang not just a run away boy running from conflict, but let him have heroic confidence as he did the Avatar state hibernation as he was actually older and already waging war with the fire nation and he and Appa simply got hit in the storm as he was in transit to another battle site. 3. When he first meets Azula, who is now younger than him, he tries to come off at first as another fire bender at first, and does a blue flame trick with his hand before Azula also shows she has a blue flame. This is an instant eyebrow raising sign for her if blue flame is that rare and has some sort of cultural relevance of being a sign for a twin flame/soul mate if both share the same color. Aang can be ignorant of it for now until later. Heck, have Aang able to lightning bend, metal bend, blood bend, and ecetera later, too. OP Aang is good and sells this ship. 4. The "also from the Fire Nation" trick wont work on her, but if he comes off cocky and confident because he is now a seasoned warrior with a lot of battle experience, it will give a better first impression if he also knows it really isn't working, he doesn't care if it is, and they have some form of verbal interchange about his lack of fire nation knowledge, and his disbelief a cute lone girl is a princess so far from the fire nation Capitol, etc. He knows he is going to win the fight anyway. (He doesn't know she can bend lightning at this point) 5. Maybe have Ty Lee now more attracted to him to give Azula a sense of urgency to make the move or claim dibs on him. 6. Full head of hair like Guts from Berzerk. No tats. With these changes, she might not even pull the trigger in crystal cave because she's hot for him.

Well... In my course of thought it sounds more realistic and makes some sense to me and I mean think about it for a second; Aang who is a hero is trying to save the world, working hard to defeat a Dictator and also fighting his emotions for the princess who's his enemy. Azula who works with a Dictator of a father, fighting for her emotions and mind, plus she has to make a choice between her Destiny of royalty or the person she love. For that, it brings out a Romeo and Juliet kind of Vibe mixed in with some Batman x Catwoman Formula along with the main storyline of save the world from a Tyrant. Makes the story sound good and have a happy ending for not only "Team Avatar", for also for Azula too who also needed someone to save and help her too. Unlike her Main Counterpart who didn't get any help from anyone in her timeline. But that's my opinion of this Alta universe (A.U) of Avatar:The Last airbender.

I’ve always had the thought that Azula deserved better and wished she’d get better

I don't really see her falling in love with Aang during the show because Azula is on the peak of her power and pride. But after the show, in the comics where she hit rock bottom and has to face her inner demons I could imagine a relationship between them because the spiritual Airbender Aang who would give everyone a second chance would be the ideal person to teach her how to find balance and inner peace. In this scenario he could be someone she can look up to and admire him.

I always think about - what if Azula with her powers joined the Gaang in season 2 and redeemed and not Zuko and Iroh. „Seeing that women are strong leaders and equal in the Gaang, she wanted to join them“

This would be such a fun alternate timeline, and very convenient for a lot of starved fans! With Aang growing out of his feelings for Katara, that would allow the Zuko/Katara shippers to finally get justice, and the Azula simps would finally get addressed. Overall, I love this, and actually kinda wish it had happened instead of the actual canon. Romance is probably the only area that Avatar has taken more than one L in, and this would be so interesting to watch!

its the only damn fanfics people write🤦🏿‍♂ i was looking up some fanfics that made sokka stronger, and literally all of them are just becoming more op then the avatar, and it ALWAYS included a harem.
