Great review: from my experience with the guitar: LAVA ME THREE GUITAR PROBLEMS 1. When the guitar is plugged in to amp or PA: a. It must be turned on…Lava Me 2 does not need to be on for the pickups to work b. Sounds awful when plugged in. I cannot get the shrill high end tones to go away, perhaps some effects are on when I plug it in, but I can’t turn them off. I cannot use this guitar on stage until I figure this out. 2. Drum loops. Cool to have them, but they do not appear in the guitar unless you are connected to WIFI. If I am at the beach I have no drum loops. Sometimes if I use a drum loop at home with WIFI, It will still be in the guitar later at the beach without WIFI. But I don’t know how to make this happen and control it. 3. Guitar is fragile if dropped. It will crack, mine did. Then how do you repair it? 4. The strap they sell failed to lock and that is why my guitar fell and cracked. It has a locking spring that failed, so now I don’t trust it. 5. No one to call. Plugging the guitar into a PA and not having it sound good is a serious problem for me. Also I would like to be able to use drum loops without WiFi. I emailed and tried to call and chat, but I get no response to email and chat and phone don’t work. There is no one in the USA to call. I have watched EVERY video available and these questions are not answered. I have had to spend way to much time on this and still can’t really use this guitar on stage or with my band. 6. You cannot use this guitars features without having an iphone app and signing up with all your personal information. If you don’t have phone or don’t want to give your information you can’t use this guitar. That is wrong! I really like this guitar, but these are negative things you should know about thanks Jack

I've had the guitar for about two months. I bought it myself, so I wasn't as biased as some reviewers that were given guitars. If you're interested here's my pros & Cons: Pros: Guitar does sound great. it is a decent electric/acoustic, but really shines in being able to get on board effects without amplification The guitar has nice finish & feel, however I'm used to playing a well set-up Taylor 614 so the action is just a smidge high for my taste. I may shave the bridge a bit eventually. FX are great. Playing un-amped they add a good flavor. Forget about the distortion setting unless you're running through an amp. Case is nice and solid and protects the guitar well. More on the case below. Charger cradles the guitar snuggly and automatically charges the guitar. It's USB-C and doesn't come with a charger, so you may need an adapter for the cable. Other than that, most reviews give a far better report on the capabilities of the instrument, so check them out like I did. Cons. These are things no reviewer seems to be addressing: My lava has a nice blue metallic finish. Looks very cool. While the guitar is made of carbon fiber, I'm not sure how well the finish will hold up. I'm pretty careful with all my guitars and most I've owned for decades and they still look almost showroom. My lava has a couple of minor scratches already that I have no idea where they came from. ELECTRONICS. The touch screen is very sensitive and at the same time has a bit more of a lag than you would be used to on a smart phone. Most notable is the absence of any home button. You'll have to page back to get there. Additionally, due to the rounded shape, I have a tendency to lean over the body when I'm sitting and playing and my chest triggers the screen. I can tell when that happens, because the most annoying loud click accompanies any changes. If you're playing out, be prepared to settle on a set sound or template for the whole song. Shifting to another one is not as easy as hitting a button on a pedal. I mentioned my chest activating the touch screen. Usually that would not be a problem. What is a problem is the Lava uses a nice machined strap peg THAT DOESN'T FIT ANY STRAP. If you like any kind of strap lock, forget about using it. Dimensionally the strap pegs are larger than the throat of any standard peg. I would have bought the Lava strap, but they have been out of stock. I use d'Addario straps with locking ends and it would take major modifications. So I broke down and bought a ice leather strap which I now have to ream out the hole to make it fit. I'm not sure if you could even swap out the stap pegs as they have no screw and I'm not ready to twist them off and create another problem. CASE: It's amazing that you can drop a thousand bucks on a guitar and have to pay extra for a proprietary case, but hey, I'm made of money so I went for it. Case fits very well and is form fitting. It doesn't leave room for a strap (If I finally get one to fit) The case has nice padded shoulder pads, and looks like the type that a Japanese school girl would have. I personally don't care to strap a guitar on my back unless I'm trail hiking. The straps do not come off so love them or live with them. The case has a nice soft handle, but is nowhere near the center of balance and like a Gibson SG, suffers from severe neck dive. Seriously walk with this case for twenty steps and you'll opt for the school girl straps. MOST DISSAPOINTING FEATURE: Support, period. Guitar came with no instructions other than to turn it on. The web site is absolutely no help. As I mentioned, being intrigued by the novelty of the guitar, I had to rely on reviewers, most of which were given the guitar. I do wonder what will happen when the rechargable battery goes south, or worse the electonic module. As far as I can see there's no parts support on the website. CONCLUSION:With all this, I bought the guitar for the FX novelty and more importantly for the Carbon Fiber construction. I bought it so that I could have a guitar I could leave out in my studio and grab as I needed to practice or work out asome inspiration. My studio is in my basement and although it's dry, the winter requires me to fill a 5 gallon humidifier to keep optimum moisture levels. So it's a guitar that is not subject to temperature and humidity. That said,I'll keep it for what I intended. I doubt it will ever play out unless it's a barbeque or around a camp fire.

Loved your "review" of your Lava. I was beginning to think I was all alone with my complaints. I saw a video unboxing of a Blue Lava and he was given a user manual the size of a book (he even laugh mentioned it). I've been emailing back and forth from Lava. I said I can't believe they can sell a $600 guitar with nothing but a Quick Start guide on a sheet of paper. I didn't figure out that those KZbins were from people GIVEN their gear. Hell! Send me one and I'll say what Lava wants. Heh heh.

I agree to an extent, but what about electric guitars? Adding effects to them is a major part of playing. My main issue with this guitar is that it looks goofy and I don't like the carbon fiber sound. I honestly wouldn't mind something like the touchscreen and interior speakers with a wooden guitar that doesn't sound like shit

Spontaneously subbed your channel after watching this brilliant review! I had watched about 10 videos on this guitar beforehand, and none of them covered all the bases so elegantly and concisely and enjoyably as yours did. No „hyper-enthusiastic“ tonality in your delivery; no self-aggrandizing blah-blah. Just pure, useable info and well-balanced opinions, along with beautiful playing that truly showed what the guitar is capable of (and what not). Also, you answered questions that one can’t even find the answers to on the manufacturer‘s website, for instance, what the objective differences are between the 2 and the 3. Subbed you without even first looking to see what other content you offer, for I know it‘ll be brilliant. Thanks! :-) And by the way: Yes, I am quite interested in this guitar. Not as my only acoustic guitar in a live set, but rather as an additional one making it easy to add flavors via the effects as well as the built-in drums/looper. That said, I also very much love my Yamaha Transacoustic with built-in reverb and chorus (only). And my Fender Acoustasonic Tele, which offers several sounds in one instrument. So they take their places alongside my old-and-wonderful Martin D-35 and other great guitars.

Thx. Very helpful. I have a Me3; it’s nice for the reasons your listed but I think their app is…severely lacking and their customer service nonexistent. I had to install/delete 5 times before the app would sync with the guitar. Too, once you download the app you have to Lava personal information before you can use ANY of the features of the guitar. In short, the touch screen will not work until you register with Lava. I just told Lava I lived in Afghanistan…none of their business where I live etc. . I paid $1000+ for the guitar that required me to register with the company before I could use its selling-point features (everything on the touch screen). Most of the effects sound alike to me and the volume on my guitar is not as loud as yours, in fact there are times when I can’t tell if the sound is even working. In short, the speaker is pretty lame. The loop feature is what I got this for - I can lat down a quick loop to practice as I’m sitting on the couch. It has potential but I’m on the fence about keeping it.
