To this day how it remains a mystery to me, I’m left to speculate. If NZ land and homes are put back on the international market by National and ACT, it doesn't matter what economic mathematical cryptic justification you assert. NZ'ers will be majorly disadvantaged and less will own homes. More housing inflation from the foreign money. As housing inflation rises it will take less than 5 years for the median house price to reach the National parties threshold of 'luxury' NZ homes, $2M. Chris Luxon the King will make tens of millions selling NZ citizens into slavery to overseas wealth. Just like Sir John Key did. All the while him and Mike Hosking called us racist xenophobes for even suggesting we might want to count the number of NZ homes being sold to overseas investors. John Key also claimed that overseas buyers don't affect house prices. The issue he asserted was simply a lack of new houses being built ie supply. Demand was not a factor for Sir John Key. Chris Luxon claims that valuable Silicon Valley talent will buy a 10M NZ house and enrich our country with skills by living and working here. The reality will be wealthy mostly Chinese will buy literally dozens of homes each to rent back to NZ'ers. Everyone will rent from China and be so thankful for the $2 per week tax they saved by selling the land. Now the middle are less 'squeezed'. Children in these unstable homes will feel the stress of their parents working to pay the rent to overseas to balance the trade deficit. Unstable communities with angry stressed teenagers who won't respect anything or anyone. Then we will need to sell more houses to pay for more prisons, police, special education and youth programs. Are we going to blame Labour for a global virus pandemic and unprecedented rain fall causing mayhem? Why do voting citizens in this sovereign democratic nation accept the unscientific emotive media sound bites and inconclusive vague TV interviews as acceptable and accurate discussion and verification of NZ political parties policies? We need proper emotionless scientific evaluation of political parties policies and claims. Otherwise we don't have any true understanding of our future government. And our democracy becomes a soap opera of manipulative double speak nonsense. Labour and NZ First support restricting foreign money from outbidding NZ citizens for a home. National is funded by Chinese donations.
