Nah all jokes aside Erdos over Grothendieck or von Neumann is a wild take

Ramanujan is Derrick Rose of mathematics. The biggest what if

Erdos, Ramanujan, Grothendieck and von Neumann were huge stars but others who deserve mention are the mommy of algebra herself Emmy Noether, the daddy of probability Andrey Kolmogorov and the daddy of functional analysis Stefan Banach.

Skip Bayless has Gauss at 9th all time
@gasaidjohn34996 ай бұрын
For those wondering, Euler and Gauss haven't been mentioned because they were writing papers in a much less competitive era. They were competing against farmers and horse cart drivers. You put Euler in today's game and he'd hardly be a MRM.
@TheRevAlokSingh6 ай бұрын
Have you actually read Euler? I have, and his work in generating functions (just to pick 1 topic) could be picked up and I think he’d do more than fine.

Put some respect on the pioneers names. Euler walked so these modern fools could run

I was gonna mention Euler
@raul50816 ай бұрын
Which is why they're even more impressive. You won't ever know what modern names would've achieved if they didn't have all the centuries of discoveries and overall knowledge supporting them, but we know those two could make waves even though they had much less to work with, now imagine if they had had the same prior knowledge to work on...

How about Ramanujan?! Sadly his prime was cut short, but he would have been the undisputed GOAT if he had lived a full life

Just re-watched “The Man Who Knew Infinity” a few days ago, makes me so sad to think what he could have accomplished had he lived longer

You need some longevity to be in that discussion. Plus he was playing in a weaker league
