I’ve watched this drama 5 to 6 times and each time the ending has had me in tears. I love this drama so much- this melody is so lovely and to read the translation makes sense after watching the drama in it’s entirety. I wish I spoke Mandarin because I am fairly sure that the translated captions in the drama don’t carry the same beauty of what is being said in it’s original language. (Since I’ve watched this and other Chinese dramas several times over, I’ve picked up a few words here and there and have noticed some words when translated, were translated slightly different that what was said.) I generally watch kdramas and i love them but this was my first chinese drama and i was blown away. The entire cast was amazing. I cried so much. Tge drama just ripped my heart out. I loved bith lead characters and their love still touches my heart. What an amazing show and the music and the costumes are beautiful. All the actors even the diabolical ones all made this show come to life. If you can watch this show andd not feel something then you are dead inside. What a brave intelligent woman navigating her way through life in such a patriarchal and hostile environment marked by so much jealously. Iam so glad the character didn't play the weak little woman and in situations where she didn't have the physical strength to overcome she used her brains. Also want to give a shout out to kick ass female character that played her guard. Loved that they gave princess wei a little martial arts experience but her guard was an awesome fighter. The whole cast deserves a standing ovation. Thus drama made me want to see other chinese dramas. I watched rebel princess after this one. It was very good too but I dont think any drama can out class this one. I listen to song track all time. Thank u netflix

Why is everyone so depressed about the ending? It’s a happy ending. They got married, became rulers and even had a kid together. It’s the perfect ending. Well I guess it just didn’t last very long but they were able to spend all that time together and make do with the time they had. They were more blessed than other couples who didn’t ended up together. And who knows how long lasted other happily ever after couple lasted as well. This one just happen to show you the aftermath instead of the typical got married, the end.

I knowing been out for years. Just watched this drama. Fantastic love story one of the best I've seen. But I sure did cry alot. Bai this, why did they kill her off? Loved her she was so funny. Also, the ending he should of lived. They had all antidote and time to find one. Great show!!!
