Interesting lists. I have played very few of those games. My list would be: 10. Hexplore It: The Forests of Adrimon (fantastic adventure crawl playable solo or with others) 9. Big Trouble in Little China: The Game (immerses you into the movie and develops into a fabulous story every time) 8. Lewis & Clark: The Expedition (a game with so many cards, such wonderful history, and good at many player counts) 7. Techno Bowl (the game with ALL of the American Football teams...or tongue-in-cheek knock offs, with wonderful replay) 6. Cosmic Encounter (my Mayfair edition) (comes with so many alien powers and the alternate homeworld locations) 5. Napoleon's Last Battles (this is a quadra game, with four different battles all in the box) separately 3. Merchant of Venus (my Avalon Hill re-vamped version) (so much replay with the random world setups, and playable up to 6 players) 2. Leaving Earth (the amount of different missions to attempt and areas to go to in a tense game of reaching for the stars with limited time) 1. Stonewall Jackson's Way 2: The Battles of Bull Run (a fantastic war game that not only has multiple different scenarios but also includes a second gamette in it that allows you to play the beginning battles of the American Civil War)

If I could only have one game, it would easily be Castles of Burgundy. This is not my #1 game; but it is my #2, and I've played it over 1,700 times without even beginning to tire of it. Technically, the only "expansion" content I use is more boards, and sometimes the "Monasteries" boards (which have one extra feature). I also like some of the additional tiles; but I seldom use them. But, even without any of that expansion content, this would be an easy choice. If I get to pick 10, though, and try to be a little more well-rounded, it would be something like the following (in no particular order). Please note: Terraforming Mars and Viticulture might be on this list, except I will not play TM without Prelude or Viticulture without Tuscany. So, I'm trying to stick by the "no expansions" rule: Gaia Project (my actual favorite game, which I've played 80+ times and will never get tired of) Castles of Burgundy Cosmic Encounter (even with just the original 50-or-so aliens). Tichu Crokinole Paperback if I have to have a party game, then Deception: Murder in Hong Kong Kingdomino: Origins Troyes Scythe Last note: I do adore Dune: Imperium (it's my #4 game of all time, and it may climb even higher)... but I honestly have no idea how it will hold up to 100s of plays without any expansion content. It might be perfect for that, but I just don't know.

I'm very theme based and rotate my game play by theme. But much like u, I was surprised how many of my favorite games would not make this list. So in no order and focused on base games only.... Clue, DEI, Fury of Dracula, Axis and Allies, Carcassonne, Dead of Winter, Zombicide: undead or alive, Vikings gone wild, Night parade of 100 yokai, Transmission....last 4 were hard to pick, and I have no doubt as more games enter my collection these will change as well. The lack of real player interaction limits it after a few dozen plays. There are optimal placements and paths to take and you know if you are going to win by turn 3 or 4. Also, the base game is a bit weak and you really need the first expansion to make it shine. If you want the same type of game but with actual player impact on each other, Lords of Waterdeep is better.

My top 5: 1: Twilight Imperium (HOW this isn't in their list? ) 2: Chaos in the Old World 3: Terra Mystica 4: Dune 5: Lords of Waterdeep Honorable mention: Kemet Casual top 5 1: Pandemic 2: The Resistance 3: 7 Wonders 4: Shadow Hunters 5: Betrayal at House on the Hill. Honorable mention: Carcassonne Complete as a base game is the key here. For instance, with expansions, Battlestar Galactica jumps to #1 and (Advanced) Civilization (Avalon Hill) to #2 Many games really must have the expansion to make it worthwhile.

Scrolling over my collection on BGG: In terms of a single game, I love Above & Below, Near & Far, and I own Sleeping Gods I haven't played it yet; but it has the most content, but I know I love the other two more so it's tough. I'll argue Agricola 15 should have come with the Farmers of the Moore ex, and the A-D decks instead of just A & B, which if included in a big box makes them modules now (?), that has a lot of replay ability. Ecos: First Continent has some variable setup and lots of cards in the base game. I haven't played it but once, but it seems like an option. Petrichor Collector's Edition. This comes with modules and expansion now in the base box so a slight cheat but idc. Robinson Crusoe Collector's Edition. The one that is coming out (and taking incredibly forever to get made btw). Like big boxes etc. will have all the content in the one box so a cheat, but thematic with lots of content for the island. Santorini. This doesn't need to be the new addition, the base game I have is enough. The amount of gods you get and insane replay-ability is great. Of course I plan to get the new gods, but don't need them. Tzolk'in. I've played with some of the expansion stuff, and while they are nice, the base game is enough. Solid game. Yedo: Deluxe Master Set. This had different cards and setups. Modules in the base box. Just a sweet game. Yokohama. I've played once, but it was neat and has different cards and set up options. This is 10 games if I take 2 of the Red Raven games. Some cheats taking big boxes that come with expansion content now in one box. Definitely different choices the more games I play. Really only looked at games I currently own. Neat stuff.

Great lists, this is always a fun topic. My number 1 would be Dwellings of Eldervale. Spirit Island, Century: Spice Road, Mythic Mischief, and Feed the Kraken round out the top 5. This assumes I'd have enough players for Feed the Kraken, and I would try to fit all 3 Century games into one box (yes, that's cheating).

New subscriber here, and I'm pleasantly surprised to see Machina Arcana on your list, a game that I consider one of the best in its genre but also extremely underrated. It's ironic to see that many players have sold their copies because they only saw it as a dice machine, when in fact it's probably one of the most subtle in managing its movements, energy, equipment, and progression. But thanks to this lack of recognition and knowledge of its mechanisms, I was able to buy the full version with both extensions for a fraction of the price 😛☺ PS: English is not my native language, and I have a bit of difficulty following your speech as you have a phenomenal speaking speed, but fortunately, I have the subtitles (in English), which is perfect for improving. 🙂👍

I would bring Fleet: The Dice Game because once I complete a game I can use the sheet as fire starter, but then the game is limited in the amount of times I could play it. I also agree on Dune: Imperium and Oathsworn, but I don’t currently own them, so I’d bring Arnak and JOTL since I own those. And then the rest of my Dice Throne seasons and Dice Throne Adventures.

Hmm... So here's my cheat/question: I would add Anachrony to my list, but I only got it in the Infinity Box, so for me, the Infinity Box is the "base game" even though it technically includes all the expansions. The same goes for the Vindication Archive of the Ancients box. So, can I include those on my list because that's the only way I got them? I mean, both would probably be on the list anyway, but I'd definitely want my full boxes.

City of the Great Machine - so much variability in the base box Aeons End - ^^ burncycle Maximum Apocalypse Gaia Project Anachrony Origins: The First Builders Batman the Animated series - likely the best dice chucker Dead Reckoning i think with these 10 games you'd have a ton of game time just with the base games. i didnt choose: Spirit Island - the base game isnt enough. imo the game need Branch and Claw Too Many Bones - base game only i think is missing something Cloudspire - my #1 game, i dont think solo would stand the test of time and it doesnt get played enough multiplayer In Too Deep - a top 10 for me, just doesnt get played enough requiring 3 players Tidal Blades - just doesnt get played enough due to player count where it shines
