Good way to play with rr is to keep your profit target the same and try to find a way of minimizing your stop loss . If you can cut your stop in half you've just doubled your rr . Or just close your trades if they go 50% in to drawdown or if they break below entry candle close 50% of the trade or whatever amount . I'm in the process of dialing in my breakout strategy that was doing good at 1:1 but I think can optimize it more .

I'm a new trader, only been trading 5 months now. People have said that playing the stock market is no different than gambling. It's only gambling if you don't have a plan and don't know what you're doing. I'm not saying I know everything and never will, but I understand that the money I put into my brokerage account is money I've decided I'm okay to risk and potentially part with. I have written out a set of rules in front of my desktop that I do my best to adhere to. Once I reach a profit percentage, I'm done for the day, even if I have money left to trade. I analyze those trades and what made them successful, and how I can improve my hold time. When I reach a loss percentage, I'm done, even if I have money to trade. This is why I automate my 3 strategies. One is a 7-to1 & One is 0.5-to-1 & my long term is is a Running with a Trailing stop. Last year I was making $30K a month once averaged out & this year is a a lot better

As you said - its all about the context. There are trades, where you take and feel comfortable to hold. And there are trades, when market conditions will show you its better to get out as soon as possible. So there is no robotic rules for risk to reward really. if I was new to trading I'd focus on hedge trading dynamics. its alot more math intensive but the flexibility is better on the psychology, especially for new traders. I don't care about risk to reward at all I just roll out of my lossing positions in multiple different ways at break even or sometimes my lossing trades are my biggest trades in the end.

Since I am into math and statistics particularly, I couldn't help but notice this video and then the part in the video where it is pointed out that if something has an 80% win rate, then it can be profitable. While it COULD be, if the amount of money won and lost isn't factored into the equation, then it isn't necessarily true. For example, if I would win $10 8 times and lost $50 twice, it changes things. In the equation, the trade amount has to remain the same. While for different reasons, many people might try to keep a number of stocks consistent, since they vary in price, that matters. Let's say you had a single $100 stock and managed to swing trade it for 1%-2% gains 8 times in a quarter, if you lost 10% twice in that same quarter on that same stock, did you really get anywhere? Even if they lost 5% twice instead of 10%, but the stock price was up a bit from that $100, then it could offset the 12%-16% worth of gains, when the stock price was lower. I prefer Warren Buffett's advice, don't lose money every. You should seek a win rate that is basically flawless.

I don't think it is. Once bitcoin crosses it's all time high, it becomes the new bottom. Anything under 69k is a good buy. It's still advisable to work with a fiduciary advisor instead of relying solely on speculations

If you are speaking in that approach then you are an amateur trader. R:R of 1 to 5 is super limited. If you Decided to use tight stoploss and think you will catch the wind because your reward is below the market average volatility. Then there good chance that you will miss most of the opportunities of getting 5x your risk because of slippage. Aprobabby increase of spread on your active positions. And I haven't speak about stoploss hunting since you are tight will be easy to take you out.

Ever since I started trading this way I’ve been winning non stop, I use a negative RR of 10:1 and oh boy it might seem scary for some but it’s the best thing ever for me, my win rate for this month so far is 95.35% with 41 winners and 2 losses, compounding my account on each trade. I’ve done all the positive RR but for me it’s hands down negative RR.
