my main problem with this boss, and this game in general, is that the game doesn't upscale right, in Nioh as you leveled up your character became stronger and suffered less from ki going down, in Wo Long almost all animations, including basic ones like being out of ki, driniking elixir, saving your co-op mates... are at higher level still as long and slow as when you start as a beginner, not having animation cancel options and so on make deflect the only way to counter spamming attacks fights like this one, and therefore a boring and tedious experience when it could be much more fun if they wouldn't limit our options as players so much. For me this is not harder, it's just boring. I can tell you I struggled much more with some bosses in Nioh when I was a noob in that game, but I had so much more fun fighting them that I only wanted more once I succeeded, while I'm really thinking of abandoning Wo Long at this point because it's not fun when 80 percent of the fights are to press the deflect button

@@shaqman813 yeah, that too, anyways I had fought him a lot of times before watching the stream and also after that and I still think this kind of boss design is more annoying than fun, though I guess it depends on personal preference too. For my tastes these fights are way too focused on reactive gameplay and leave little room for creative gameplay, which make the experience more tedious and repetitive than fun

Many people enjoy the focus on deflecting and it is the main point of combat in wo long. But none of the fights are JUST about pressing the deflect button, there's a good balance of deflecting and counter attacking which makes the combat very satisfying IMO.

@@AutumnRed seeing you comment like this makes me remember the Onmyo Mage fight Chinese Bellflower i just recently cleared on Nioh 2. I bought the game like a week ago. For me that was a constant dodge, block, hit defense, not being able to ki pulse because of the blocks shortening the animations and therefore i missed the timing. I still can't work in ki pulses properly. Seeing this fight reminded me of that experience as well. I don't get why fights have to be that long all the time. I rather have 30 second fights where every single mistake is a game over than a 10 minute fight.

In this game's defense, it's hard to recapture the fucking peak of combat freedom that is Nioh. I just hope we get a Nioh 3 eventually.

Great fight. Was a delight to watch you learn and adopt. Great fun to watch it in the stream. Many amazing players struggle when facing something new, but you did exceptionally well!

About the hardest bosses, I'm doing the game staying at lvl 1 with only +0 weapons, 3 non-upgraded elixirs, and no teammates. I would say demonized Liu Bei in third position (very easy to take lightning damage which are fatal at lvl 1...), Gan ning in second (he was litteraly oneshooting me with any of his 999 red attacks), and demonized Taishi Ci in first (I'm stucked on him), I gave up to learn his second phase since I had to make a perfect first phase each time just to see 2 or 3 moves of his second phase before getting killed. Yuan Shu looks as hard (probably more ?) than Taishi Ci, 2 lifebars bosses are really a cancer to learn.

@@ABegot He seems to do elemental damage with his sword, that's part of the reason why I gave up on Taishi Ci : if you fail deflecting a move with elemental damage and block it instead, you still get the elemental damage and it has an insane impact on a tiny HP bar... you have to deflect/dodge almost everything without blocking otherwise that's a game over.

I was so sad that I, as a Nioh and Nioh 2 player, couldn't beat this boss. It's nice to know that he wasn't cakewalk for you too.

It's from clearing enemies in the level on Dragon King difficulty and getting permanent buffs, I think.

@PooferLlama yeah an elemental weapon + high difficulty + low level gonna be rough. He's a really good fight tho. Similar to NMB in terms of not rle cheese....otekamaru vibes too. I like it. Try it with physical on a lower difficulty
