Sick of this! Talking about the "cost" of a project! If a project costs 1 trillion dollars, then that cost is directly given to the engineers, scientists, construction workers and management (and share-holders). End result, this trillion dollars is back in the system again, the monies being recirculated throughout all of the financial institutions. If these projects really cost so much, then they would not be built, period. Cost assumes loss; recirculation of money is not a GDP loss.

As an American KZbinr, I would like to here Imperial units used before the Metric ones are uttered. The Metric units are almost meaningless to some of us (hard to envision on their own compared to the Imperial Units to which many a generation of us grew up on and are totally accustomed). It is not that the USA is trying to play hardball on switching to the Metric system but rather there has been little effort to acclimate the public (especially the elderly) through a comparative analysis concerning each and every category of measurement to visualize the quantities and become more comfortable with the differences. It is readily understood for me to walk 1 mile than it is for me to understand exactly where 1 kilometer is going to fall, shorter than or greater than that 1 mile.
@nallemanstankarochfunderin59626 ай бұрын
As with the rest of the world, except England, you'll have to try and learn how it might look. Or just don't put as much value into what the measurements really mean. I've been watching mainly english and american videos for the last 20 years, but i still don't really understand the imperial system. I know that a mile adds roughly 0.4 to a kilometer. But inches, thumbs and poundfeet tells me absolutely nothing. Yet i enjoy the information i get, and know that a higher number equals bigger and longer things. That's about it. If you really wan't to know how long or heavy something is, just use google or one of all those unit conversion apps.
@terrytaylor28256 ай бұрын
Use your lazy mind to do some minor math calculations... when you hear 'meter' think 3 feet/1 yard-ish.... (So Freedom Tower at 1776 feet is 592-ish meters) when you hear 1 kilometer, think 6/10ths of a mile... 1K miles is close enough to 1610 kilometers for mental imagining, 500 miles = 805-ish kilometers.

"Imperial units used before the Metric ones are uttered" - this reminds me of an American several years ago on the net that demanded that all videos indeed all information be provided in 'American' meaning English. He was roundly shouted down. As a Canadian Boomer '46 who grew up with SAE and learned metric when we changed over, Sorry, not going to happen since almost the entire planet runs on metric, holdouts like the UK and the US notwithstanding. I learned drafting in my '40s using both systems, indeed using the US decimal inch as well. Either learn it or just learn a few conversions. Maybe do some viewing on the metric system. It will help. My substantially outraged reaction has been toned down considerably in consideration of the source. There _are_ other nations on the planet.
