Netaji faked his own death. Since India got independence in 47 2 yrs after his disappearance. His life long dream was achieved so there was no urgency for him to come out. He also held himself responsible for the lost lives of so many ina soldiers who fought and died for his cause which was not successful. Its reported that he indulged in covert operations to prevent America from increasing its influence in Asia after 2nd world war, that also include Vietnam. He was completely aware that if he reveals his identity in public after faking his death his credibility and legacy would be lost. Amidst the cold war coming out in public would lead to other revelations about his missions in Asia and that would possibly bring threat to our country. Also, the ruling party that time wouldn't have let that happen. Therefore, he continued to live silently in his own country as a sadhu. I DO NOT have shadow of doubt that the sadhu in faizabad was netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

All experts commenting here should know that Netaji was declared a war prisoner by British if ever found alive like many others. The treatment meted out towards such prisoners were beyond imagination. Netaji was part of Congress once although he chose a different path later. No congressmen ever wanted that treatment towards him. It is not like today's politics that everything has to be made public. If the rumor of his death was spread it was well planned and the freedom fighters supported it till his death.

Your statement has 2 parts - 1st that is clearly refutable using facts and 2nd that is totally undeniable. The 2nd part that is he was the greatest son, is by all means, a gospel truth. Talking about 1st part, you should know that during 1952-1985 period he had contacts with 5 CMs of UP (this is the number, which is without doubt, correct, more might also be there,.). Further, Dr. or Mr. I am not sure, Pabitra Mohan Roy, INA Secret Service Man knew him since 1962, and tried by all means to fulfill each of Bhagwanji alias Gumnami Baba's requirements. Leela Roy, one of the front-rung revolutionaries and one who knew Netaji since 1920s (when both of us were not born even) came to believe that he was none other than his long lost compatriot. The list of men with integrity with same inclination is endless. And this has all been recovered from Baba's belongings, letters etc he wrote to his followers, by eminent Netaji researcher Mr Anuj Dhar and his Mission Netaji. You must also note that this mountain of evidences is that which survived from being destroyed by Baba himself who was very alert about concealing his identity.
