@@faraishta interrupting the SpongeBob discussion which is very interesting. I want to say that yes, we do look into the historical context and also the subtle ways people talked about being horny in songs in the past. You mentioned Frank Sinatra who was arrested for sleeping with married women and other such things which is kinda funny to me. I actually did my MA on analysing old timey lyrics. Trust me, fly me to the moon and let me swing among those stars can be analysed with textual evidence as something sexual. And if you look at the historical context, saying things like baby kiss me was very spicy for the time. And let's take it aaaaaaall the way back to classic blues. There's a song originally recorded by Robert Johnson that goes likes "'baby don't you want to go back to the land of California to my sweet home Chicago' and by the same guy 'come on in my kitchen it's gonna be raining outdoors' and also 'boom boom boom I'm gonna shoot you down right off of your feet until you're home with me' by John Lee Hooker. There are a lot more examples but bear in mind that classic rock n roll was considered extremely spicy and not just because Elvis was dangling his dong and people were clutching their pearls hahaha

When you compare this old classic's lyrics to the kind of stuff that's popular today, it's truly depressing. It's a disgusting reflection of how today's generation lacks the class and morality that used to just be a given, even among the young people. Robbie will always be my go-to for wholesome, high-quality songs; I'm so glad that my children got to grow up listening to such a true genius.

My great-grandpa listened to this song after the war, his daughter and sons played it on his old record-player while going through his stuff after he passed, and it became a tradition to play this at every wedding we had in the family. The daughter of my great-grandpa became my grandma, and we found this song as well. My mom and dad played this at their re-wedding when I was 7. The song just stuck with me since, my grandma also had a story of the artist behind this song, Robby, the story goes, when her dad brought her and his sons to Robby's 2nd concert, Robby gave them a free autograph and even offered to give her dad a little introduction of him to the audience, which is basically a shout-out. Legendary guy, I will definitely be passing this song down to my kids as well. R.I.P. Robby, an absolute legend. 👑.

@Chickaqee

I remember it like it was yesterday. It was 1956, and I was just a youngster. My buddies and I loved Robbie and the Fuckboys. They were the hottest doo-wap group around, and we were lucky enough to see them perform live in concert. The energy in the room was electric. Robbie looked sharp as ever in his tailored suit and fresh cut. And the autotune they used on their voices was something we'd never heard before - it was like they were from another world. True technological innovation. kids nowdays with their iPods and Tiktoks would never understand! We sang and danced along to all their hits, but the highlight for me was when they performed "Drip". The whole place went wild. It was an unforgettable experience. Robbie and the Fuckboys were true pioneers in the world of music. I'll be passing down all their records to my grandchildren in hopes to keep their legacy going with the youngsters.
