I just want to say we here in South Africa we are one percent muslim and have over 3000 masjids. Algamdulila. We are Free in South Africa. We overcame our Apartheid. Algamdulila

I would push back on what the respected sheikh said about the UK. Masjids have increasingly become non sectarian. We have over 1,500 masjids in the UK, so Alhamdulillah things are looking up.
@SKhan0m
@SKhan0m 3 ай бұрын
I was also confused when he said that about the UK. 4-5 masjids in the same area yet one group does not pray behind the other? Where did brother get that from? That's not true. Generally people living in one community, no matter the ethnicity, will share a masjid. People choose to go to their nearest masjid. Sure there are sectarian divisions in some areas but luckily these are few and far between, and even fewer in bustling cities.

As someone living in the UK, the Shiekh is spot on about his assessment about the UK. Sure there may be exceptions but in general, mosques are sectarian
@Imranpeer

As someome who lives in the UK and has travells across the country as part of my job, the Shiekh is spot on about the UK, yes there are exceptions however in majority of cases mosques are very sectarian. The city I live in has 4 mosques within 5 minutes walking distance - 1 bengali mosque, 2 diff Pakistani sec mosques and an Arab mosque. The only one which is slightly mixed is the Arab one. And this is the case in every Muslim area in the UK.
@SKhan0m
@SKhan0m 3 ай бұрын
@@Imranpeer Hmm. Do you think this stems from intentional sectarian division, or it's just that people are comfortable congregating with those from their own ethnicity (which is still a very sad thing)? If too many mosques in one area causes people to segregate according to ethnicity then I think we should stop opening multiple mosques in one area. This forces all Muslims to pray together. I'm a female and often pray in mosques, and see brothers/ sisters from all backgrounds coming to their local mosques. Usually the larger the mosque the more diverse the congregations. Its true that smaller mosques in small neighbourhoods tend to attract the local community mainly - who generally tend to be people from a shared ethnicity. But from my own experiences I don't believe people are intentionally segregating from Muslims of other communities. Diversity or lack of diversity in mosques simply reflects the demographics of the local community. In my area there are several mosques and my husband attends all of them, he will stop to pray at the one nearest to him when he is out. If there is intentional segregation happening then Muslim community leaders and mosque leaders have a duty to find ways to remedy that.

This is me right now in Nigeria. I have always been disconnected from our local clergy. Massively disconnected. If I was to bring up a study conducted at Yale or Oxford or some think-tank they would immediately accuse me to pandering to the Kafirs and being influenced by their ideas. I'd be takfir'd to an inch of my life. I tried before I finally found where I felt I belonged. Dr Qadhi has influenced me to buy Edward David's book on Orientalism and so many other works of research especially with the Palestinian situation right now, I have also developed an interest in Muslim Spain and Italy, in history and of course the Seerah.

Assalamu Alaikum Shaykh Dr. Qadhi, I am writing to you from a distant land, Cambodia, nestled in Southeast Asia. Despite the miles that separate us, your teachings have profoundly influenced my life. For the past ten years, I have been an avid follower of your lectures, and I make it a point to watch almost every video you share especially on KZbin. Your words have been a beacon of light, guiding me through the ups and downs of life. Each lecture brings with it a sense of peace and understanding that I often seek in the hustle and bustle of daily life. Your insights into our faith, your compassion, and your eloquent way of delivering messages have helped me navigate my own spiritual journey. Thank you for being such an inspiring figure. May Allah bless you and continue to grant you the strength and wisdom to touch the lives of many more, just as you have touched mine. JazakAllah Khair,

Was in San Jose, CA in 1982 worked in Cupertino, CA went looking for masjid in San Francisco at what I thought was Asr time but found the place empty then. Decided to drive back amd did go not back there since then. Knew of no other Muslims then. Return to college in Tempe, AZ in 1984 and was surprised to find a masjid modeled after Dome of the Rock across the street from my college and few blocks from downtown Tempe. My life changed since then.

We need to discuss this issue of the Upper Class Muslims watching Western Duat instead of their local duat. Even tho I am not "upper class" per se, as a bangladeshi, i too do this.
@rubyanwar5523
@rubyanwar5523 3 ай бұрын
But I guess the point is, if you are watching upper or lower class, and getting benefit then continue
@enacausmembrane
@enacausmembrane 3 ай бұрын
@@rubyanwar5523 I guess the reason I don't listen to my local duat is two reasons 1. My mother tongue is hard, it is its own unique script and has almost no similarity with the latin script. The language itself (Bengali) is more influenced historically from Sanskrit Languages. Recently, due to necessity a lot of English, French and Arabic words entered the language. I won't be surpirsed if we abandon this language totally or transform this language very slowly into basically an indian version of english. 2. Most of the local duat are hardcore sufis, and are deviants. I'm not an ultra salafi, but even to me, these guys are beyond the realm of sunnism. Constantly making up hadith, and quoting daeef hadith, made up stories. Most of these deviants haven't even passed a proper islamic exam properly, have no islamic degrees, are horrible at english, speak in village dialects and are always angry. Nobody in the "educated" class wants to be around them. It's mostly poor people who don't really use the internet that much listen to these guys. The new generation (my generation Gen Z) here is changing however, specifcally because the newer shuyukh here were insipred from western duat and western shuyukh. I don't think it's the people's fault. I feel it is completely natural to not want to be around a "werid" people. I for example have no problem with a shaykh who is poor, I will listen to him so long as he a proper sunni, and has adab. But then again, most of the time, they are just talking about the same things over and over again, not talking about important things. There are still millions of muslims around the entire indian subcontinent who STILL don't know the Riba is haram. I don't blame the lay muslim that much (even tho I do blame them a little because we have google now) I blame the shuyukh here, even the proper ones, because they aren't talking about important topics like this.
