Pokémons have intelligence scores (though those are also localised as "Sp. Atk" at times). Some are even described as having a "superhuman intelligence" (like Alakazam with its "5000 IQ" or Metagross with its "four brains having the intelligence of a supercomputer"). So, properly trained, they can very well be way more intelligent than a commoner.

Tbh I’d imagine that a lot of Pokémon would be able to exist normally. The Pokédex entries are pretty wack and contradictory. I’d say those are more so based on myths rather then actual facts. The only place that seems like it would be hell would be the Galar region, which just has titan sized pokemon running amok whenever a red light appears.

I always liked to use the lillipup line when playing B&W. Great coverage (fang moves) and just an aesthetically unique pokemon that's basically "Here's a Maltese, but big, and also not absolutely inbred".
