OK This was something and while it’s pretty much stated that Rin would BREAK under Zouken, a part of me kinda hopes to see ONE timeline where that doesn’t happen and Rin Matou is an actual character alongside Sakura Tohsaka. Anyway here’s another potential IF Path: What IF Shirou was found by someone else after the Fire? Like say, either Kirei, Zouken or even Kuzuki? How would his path have gone down on each possibility? And would Kiritsugu have let himself die or try to rescue Illya? GOOD LUCK!

What about Shirou Ainsworth? Like dude would master his version of displacement magecraft. Although it would be repetitive to have Shirou Ainsworth to master Displacement Magecraft and Darius Mastery over Displacement, we could make a timeline where Darius joined the 4th holy grail war, lost then adopted Shirou from the fire to be his successor before dying and unable to switch bodies cus he didn't complete his research on the full potential of displacement magecraft. This then of course ruin the plot of the stay night since illya doesnt have to vent her anger to Shirou but we can make a scenario that Darius fck over ires and kiri that cause to their deaths. Now we have sakura tosaka, rin matou who somewhat did turn to worm producer and absolutely hate sakura. Shinji who got tamed by rin because of her personality. Illya now on the hunt, and shirou Ainsworth with his step cousins.

Rin would indeed break or more accurately shatter. But makes me curious is what would be born from that? Rin wouldn't have a shadow like Sakura so does that mean that she can't be the grail vessel at all? If not then what would zouken use her for? Not food her circuits are too valuable to waste like that. So a master in the next war? What kind of Servant would Rin summon? If she uses the same catalyst then Perseus or Gorgon may be on the table, maybe even Andromeda? I'm not knowledgeable enough to know what is and isn't possible but this is definitely a interesting concept to consider and that's not even getting into Sakura's side of things and how it will affect Shirou. Would Shirou just be killed by Lancer and left to die?

Aside from what Rin could be if she went to the Matou's, if Sakura stayed with her family I think be a mixture of Luvia and the shadow only because proper Rin is a tsundere while Luvia is all haughty and prideful (Rin has a lack of it) and you can't exactly get rid of Sakura's caring nature

100% Rin would not last a day with Zouken! A lot of Fate fans still don't understand how much better Sakura is in power and mentality compared to her sister. Sakura was only toying with Rin in Heaven's Feel, and she broke down within minutes! Not to mention how her Shadows wiped the floor with her Gems! If Rin had been sent away instead of Sakura, we wouldn't even have a story!

Isn't that also the same with Sakura, cuz the reason why Sakura came from being "broken" during in her teens was because she met Shirou and I ABSOLUTELY don't know what you meant by Sakura being superior that Rin. In my opinion, I think that both of them are more or less equal with Sakura having a meek personality and possessing one element and also if we exclude that Zouken placed a holy grail fragment inside of Sakura.

Saber probably destroyed the grail just like in Fate and dies after that, just without her love for Shirou. Rin, assuming she survives the grail war, goes to London to study under the Clock Tower. As for Sakura probably the same as the Fate route, maybe with Shinji becoming a better person due to the grail like in UBW

There's a fanfic that I read called "From Fake Dreams" by Third Fang. It's not perfect and doesn't go super deep into it, but the story does make you think about the potential "what ifs" since the story lays bear ALL the problems in the Holy Grail War, not just a few select ones for each route. If you don't mind a few potential flaws of the story, I highly recommend reading it because it's well written and, to me, feels like it keeps the spirit of the original story. Now for what I think about what happened in Archer's timeline, with help from the "From Fake Dreams" story, everyone is basically damned. Saber didn't realize where she was wrong with her choices and continued searching for the Grail with the Counter Force, Illya died from her degenerating Homunculus body a year after the war, and Sakura was still left in Zouken's clutches, with her only relief is that Shinji may be dead and even then I wouldn't be surprised if Zouken replaced him. With Shirou getting executed years later and becoming a Counter Guardian, Rin is the only one who has anything of a decent future since she goes to the Clocktower to learn and uplift her family name, and even then I bet it ends in tears for her because of what happens later. It is confirmed in canon for both Fate and Unlimited Blade Works that 10 years later Waver Velvet and Rin Tohsaka make an effort to completely dismantle the Greater Grail and permanently end the Grail Wars. I bet Shirou may have helped before his death too. My head canon is that during the ordeal, Zouken tried to stop them and used Sakura to do it, who has been left to rot with him for over 20 years now and Rin is probably forced to kill her sister since at this point there probably isn't ANYTHING that anyone can do to save her, even with Shirou making a genuine attempt. As a result, Rin and Shirou have a falling out after the ordeal, especially since they just learned what Sakura endured for 20 years and neither of them did anything about it, and they both go back to their Magus and Hero work just to cope from it all and Rin ends up hearing about Shirou's death later on. At this point I feel this is where Rin would hit a breaking point. Because she quite literally did nothing to hold onto the last two people she truly loved in the world (yes, even Sakura despite all the years of estrangement) because she was always so focused on her Magus studies and family name, Rin would break and have two paths before her: she'd either fully embrace the cold calculating nature of Magi and become a heartless monster or she'd emotionally and mentally shut down and just not care about anything anymore, living the rest of her life consumed by regret. Archer's timeline was identical to the Fate Route with the big difference being that Shirou wasn't able to save Saber's heart so even though they worked together to destroy the Grail she would continue her search for the Grail in other wars while Shirou went off with Rin to the Clock Tower before eventually leaving to follow his ideals becoming Archer in the end

Like they straight up manifest like that Saber Alter is one of few examples where she was normal then she gets corrupted Besides that the de-altered versions might not necessarily be the same as the original
