Team Skull felt like an actual team in a while. all teams felt like a company with the leader being the dictator and admins being managers. Team Skull felt like a family of misunderstood trainers who lost confidence after failing the trials. So instead Guzma decided to give the kahunas the finger and let the skull grunts feel good about themselves because they're strong even without the challenges.

Because they're so bad at everything they do. They're failures in all ways. Troubled youths who could never and will never amount to anything but who still try to do something even if their only outlet is crime (which they're just as bad at as everything else they try). They're the plucky pathetic underdogs and if they ever succeeded at being anything more than a nuisance they'd probably be scarier. But at the end of the day they just mostly watch out for each other and don't get much else done. That's why they're likable. A mix of incompetence, bravado and friendship power.

I always thought Team Skull was like a family. Helping each other out at tough times. Guzma and Plumaria acting like parents to the Team Skull Grunts. Its just adorable how much Guzma cares about his grunts(or should i say kids?) This explains why Team Skull is the best evil team out there. No other team does it like Team Skull does it. They also stole Pokémon and other things, but I agree with you. If you rank the evil Pokémon teams from most evil to least, then Team Skull is like right at the bottom. Guzma acted way more like your typical schoolyard bully than a genuinely evil guy. Actually, I can see Team Skull rebanding in a sequel game, except now they'd be delivering vigilante justice in the face of the new evil and assisting you, though you may have to fight them to prove yourself first. :D

You're right on the money. If you visit Guzma's house on Route 2, there are a couple implications that Guzma was abused by his parents. He entered the island challenge, but could never quite make it, so when he aged out, he ran away from home to form Team Skull. They're not the mafia, they're just a bunch of disillusioned teenagers.

Oh my word, this is so funny and adorable! Thank you so much for making this! I absolutely LOVE Team Skull. No other villain team in Pokémon has gripped me like this in a while, and I'm pretty sure it's from how incredibly (sometimes very painfully) relatable they are, as well as their family dynamic. They make me laugh, but at the same time I just want to hug them. I really hope they all, or if not all of them, at least Guzma and Plumeria, show up in the next Pokémon game. That bike only costs $10,000. There are real bikes that cost $10,000. A poke-"dollar" is closer to a yen than a dollar. I mean, Pokemon is a Japanese game, after all. Think about it. Why would a Potion cost $300 at a convenience store? It's cheap mass produced crap that would only be $3.00. The Pokemon world is a super high-tech advanced civilization. They use quantum entanglement to capture pokemon and store and retrieve them remotely via pokeballs for fucks sake. Making a medicinal spray to instantly mend broken bones or whatever other ailments would be child's play to them, it'd be sold next to the candy aisle of a convenience store or something.

They're more petty criminals than they are criminal masterminds. Like, think loitering at the mall and shoplifting a pack of gum. They're just the kids that didn't finish their island challenge and didn't really have anything going for them. I mean, the leader was an abused kid (his dad mentions trying to put him back into line and there is a bag of bent and broken golf clubs in their house), Plumeria came from a tiny trailer park and had no money, and I'm assuming the grunts all had similar stories.
