Imagine being aware of your problems, and never even trying to fix them.
'A Ghost of You' is a cinematic poem about the fear I feel regarding my own behaviour, set in the world of The Batman (starring Robert Pattinson and directed by Matt Reeves).
When I sat down to write this poem, I imagined how life would be if I, like Bruce Wayne, continued to retreat into the darkness -- refusing help from friends and family as a way of coping with emotions and behaviour I didn't understand. I imagined how my partner might be at the end of our lives if I had refused to step out of the shadows. I imagined creating a monster.
Learning and performing the six minute monologue for 'A Ghost of You' was one of the most challenging and frustrating endeavours of my life. At times, I felt like giving up -- when my hair wasn't hanging right, or my makeup looked wrong, or the lights needed changing or the microphone wasn't picking me up properly. Writing and shooting these films entirely alone is rewarding and gives me so much freedom, but it's not without its pitfalls.
