Through trial and error, he had even managed to have the girls never fully form a functional nose so they couldn't smell the stench as their bodies slowly rotted from the inside out. Though saying that, he had still yet to find a solution for himself. ..and the bugs. ________________________ Hope you enjoy my take on these guys! To be fair canonically (at least in the original series) the powerpuff girls were kinda horrifying in universe, there were instances where people would point out how they had abnormally large bug eyes and LITERALLY had no fingers, so yea you're just bringing the real horror to light and beautifully.

Professor was a scientist trying to make the "Perfect girls." He would try again and again, only resulting the subjects looking horribly deformed and burnt, as they sometimes were left cooking to long. There were other experiments he made to pass the time, like Mojo, a Monkey who's brain was replaced with a human one. Until one day, the professor created the girls, but he accidently added Chemical X. This caused the girls to have super strength and flying abilities. The girls were a bit deformed in a way but in the professor's eyes..... *They were PERFECT*

“X” is not a mere “chemical” at all, that was just a cover name. It’s really highly adaptable bio nanotechnology that he programmed to make a coherent pseudo human from carbohydrates and various other organic compounds lying around, mostly vegetable in origin. He trained the nannites to store and copy the memories of the clones so to pass them on from one to another across the series, but carefully edited so that they each think they have been a contiguous individual all along, at least until the end stage observation and final disposal process is underway. Having an existential crisis is fairly common for them during this period even though he’s made them to not exactly feel pain like a human would. They do have a new kind of nervous system that performs the same function, but through several layers of information filters that allow them to more “observe” damage as ‘pain’ (for lack of better terms) in a strange third hand way than to actually experience it directly. In a sensory analogy, It is kind of like reading a book about something rather than going out and being a part of that something. It might be a horror story that can be very disturbing but you can grow numb to it if you have to read them every day. That’s the best way possible to describe how they experience physical damage. But they remain vulnerable to other kinds of emotional trauma. But it’s fine, he always edits such out of the memory transfer. In addition to lasting longer, they’re also becoming more and more durable. Eventually the nannites should not only give them normal lifespans but make them effectively invulnerable. But that’s years away.

Weird detail I noticed, but the Blossom in the containment unit is labeled "351" while the Blossom we see next to the professor is labeled "352" Notice how the Blossom in the containment unit is staring in shock and sadness, while her body is slowly dissolving to shreds. If I didn't know any better, I'd say she's feeling shocked at how the Blossom right after her turned out so well and got the Professor's attention and "love" while she was left all alone. Left to rot away by herself.

"Your beautiful in your own way" He smiled as Blossom ran to her sisters' bedroom, forgetting the newspaper in their porch. And there it reads: *"Mad Scientist Prof. Utonium breaks out of Townsville Asylum"* As Blossom went to her sister's bedroom, she saw Bubbles playing with Mr. Octo. Bubbles then noticed Blossom. "Hey there!" Bubbles said as she waved her hand, signalling Blossom to come to Bubbles. Bubbles always has a bright personality, in fact, she made professor proud many times, and Blossom........ she's jealous of it. Blossom went and sat down beside Bubbles, waiting for Buttercup. It had been 14 hours since she's been in the basement, and honestly, both girls think she deserves it. Buttercup has always been bitter, always reckless, even sometimes takes her pranks too far. Bubbles would never forget the day Buttercup took Mr. Octo in one of the tubes, almost accidentally dropping him in the tube, in which professor banned them to go inside it. Or when Buttercup broke Blossom's favorite bone she stole from a dead dog rotting in their porch. "Do you think Buttercup's okay?" Bubbles asked as she put Mr. Octo back in the toy box. "Of course Bubbles-" Blossom replied as she took a chemical X bottle which had been mixed with a blood of their *forgotten* sister, a potion that would stop them from rotting. "After all, *those who has a rotten mentality gets sent to the basement..."*

So... There are a lot of details to talk about in this drawing. The first is the tags on the girls (and Mojo Jojo). We see the Blossom in the tank is 351, but the Blossom in front of her is 352, meaning the Professor immediately put the tag on after replacing her. However, Bubbles and Buttercup have tags that are MORE than 352. This means those numbers don't represent every new girl he takes out, no matter their identity, but rather how many times he's had to replace the SAME girl. In other words, the Professor had made each girl at different times, or they all had different problems that caused them to 'expire' at different times. If it's the latter, then Buttercup has the most problems as seen by the tags. He's already on 375 with her while Bubbles is still at 368 and Blossom is 352. If he made them at different times, then he probably made Buttercup first, and Blossom last, because not only is her number the least among the three of them, the Professor likely improved with each failure, so by the time he GOT to Blossom, he was good enough that her clones lasted a bit longer, and thus was replaced less than the other two. The second thing is the expiry dates on the girls. We know from the pinned comment by Neytrix that each girl can last up to a year or so. Assuming Blossom was JUST replaced, that means that Bubbles was also just replaced, because HER date of expiry is only a month before Blossom's. She can't be the 'older' one. Yet, despite JUST being replaced, Bubbles's arm is already mauled up. (Although, maybe this could just be because she fought with Mojo Jojo and kept dragging him around and holding him with that arm.) Now, with Buttercup, it gets even weirder. There's a tank behind them with Buttercup, and she's labeled 374. She's being disposed of and replaced just like Blossom, and yet this 'new' Buttercup, 375, already has her eyeball falling out, and according to the description, this isn't the first time. This ties back to my theory that the Professor has to tackle different problems with each girl, and that this kind of damage is probably common, at least with Bubbles and Buttercup since Blossom only has a little tear in her arm where the tubing for the chemical X is inside. Maybe Bubbles easily has her flesh torn apart and Buttercup can't keep her body parts together. Maybe Blossom has a totally different problem, like a different reaction to the chemical X. The green veins are visible on her face, but Bubbles and Buttercup only have it up to their necks. Now, we go to the basement description in the pinned comment. A lot of people think that Buttercup is being disposed of, but that's unlikely. As I said, this Buttercup is NEW. Why would he just replace her immediately? I think it's more likely that the basement is just the place where the Professor 'fixes' the girls. The 'others' is her other sisters with her right now, Blossom and Bubbles. He has to repair Bubbles's arm, and check over Blossom. The disposal area are the test tubes and the cages we see in the desk, with the words 'EXPIRED' over them. The professor probably has a limited number of tubes, and it takes a while for the expired girls to dissolve completely, so he probably just shoves the extra girls he needs to get rid of under the desk in those cages, pending the dissolving process in the giant tubes. THAT'S how he gets rid of them. The smell of rotting and the cause of all those bugs probably comes from THEM in the cages.

I'm actually down to see a revamp of powerpuff girl's story, but instead of the usual, heroic happy cartoon we have, it dives into realism, where Professor (forgot his name) is actually a scientist invested into his research about achieving superpowers, during which he used his own daughters to be subjects and led to some extremely disgusting abominations. I like how every single thing about the design is taken to account about things in the Cartoon as well. It's so fitting and I wished this was real, cuz Boi I'd watch that... >w< -> The girls are made with baking of some sort, which explains the ingredients, and makes perfect sense. -> They expire like baked pastries which also makes sense, and adds perfectly to the ingredients they were made from. -> it also makes perfect sense that there is a lot of them, unlike the cartoon where the was the classic "Oh No! Failed Successfully!?" Which meant a good headcanon would be.. The professor trying to find a way to make them last longer(Morbid but unique thought) -> It got darker, but in truth, if the Cartoon wasn't really for kids, this plot would make more sense cuz, why make kids out of nothing and legit make life without alchemy equivalent exchange?(Fullmetal Alchemist) -> I absolutely can't. It's too good. Better than the Cartoon, --change my mind if you disagree. QwQ There is so many things that just makes the design and overall drawing/art actually have a good story, not just some classic "Wow! Powers! They are heroes!" (I love PPG cuz it was my childhood cartoon, but I really really really! Love this "Art/Drawing 'if PPG wasn't for kids'" thing. It makes a really good plot. And I really wish this was actually real and we are able to watch it. TwT)
