Tim Dalton was brilliant as Bond, very very close to the Bond Ian Fleming wrote about, charming, shopicated, but with a cruel streak, the others all have their own qualities but TD was one of the best
@christopherfoote46432 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't remember Bond having a cruel streak. He was deeply affected by Della being murdered and was troubled by the fact it was done by henchmen who knew Lighter was on to them. He was also concerned about the remaining CIA operative who probably would be killed without him being involved.

Ian Leszczynski It pissed me off for a long time . I have always felt he was underrated. He had that Bond DNA and I don't know what happened ?! Maybe he wasn't kiss ass enough to the Broccoli family , Who knows ! But he did Excellent in this movie and others ! ( Too me ) .
@horrorfanandy4647 Жыл бұрын
@@craigpatterson1547 On the contrary. Tim and Broccoli by all accounts had a very good working relationship, he was actually asked back for Goldeneye on the condition he would do a few more films after, but Timothy decided to decline the offer, feeling it had been too long and that future films would take up too much of his career.

Unfortunetly Dalton quit. He apparently decided to go back to acting in the style he was trained for....it was his call...but he was a great 007...since Brosnans contract with Remington Steele was up and Broccoli was waiting for him , he got the part. It all worked out that way. However, The Living Daylights is my favorite 007 film to date. The chemistry between Dalton and Maryam D'abo is priceless....

BigdogH201 Brosnan played the role of Bond to light and to a degree of silliness (The World is Not Enough, Die Another Day), Dalton brought back the true Bond essence from Fleming's books however fans were used to the campiness of Roger Moore once Dalton took over and didn't want change which is a shame.

I don’t care what the critics or the fans say - Dalton was criminally underrated as Bond. He singlehandedly brought the character back to reality after the camp excesses of the Moore era and the comedy elements that audiences were getting far too comfortable with. And he had the right blend of ruthlessness and charm to match. Though he only did two outings, Living Daylights and Licence to Kill were miles better than the last 4 Moore outings, where he essentially became a parody of himself. Had the legal issues not happened in the 90’s, Dalton would of done Property of a Lady/Whisper of Terror and then signed off with GoldenEye. What could of been, eh?

Timothy Dalton's 2 Bond films were the last ones that felt magical to me. Bond films from the beginning through License To Kill always felt like kid on Christmas morning special occasions where you were transported to a wonderful world of escapism and adventure. I still like the ones after Dalton's era, but they just haven't felt "special" since then. Dalton's and Connery's Bonds were guys you wanted to be. Moore's Bond was fun & the stunt work, locales, and ladies were superb. Great times!

Timothy Dalton was IMHO the best of the Bonds and (Again IMHO) Maryam D'abo comes first before all the Bond girls. The music in this song is indisputably the best of John Berry's love themes and the Pretenders fit it perfectly. @daytripper231 I think the problem was that internal problems at MGM put a pause period on the Bond franchise that lasted so long that by the time the film that would have been his 3rd (which became GoldenEye), Dalton felt he was too old and that too much time had passed. It's really unfortunate. If only Dalton had stepped in (and Roger Moore had stepped out) with "For Your Eyes Only" we could have had five Bond films from him.

The living daylight's and license to kill are actually my favorite bond films along with golden eye , Casino royal and Goldfinger. Dalton's bond is so underrated due to him only doing two bond film's but he played the role how it should be played. I am happy however with Craig's bond as he comes very close to Dalton's! Timothy Dalton was by far the best Bond. He played him in very believable stories of Russian double agent and the second film was about a South American drugs lord. Yes gone was the world takeovers and back to Bond being played as he always should have been played and not like a cartoon with people like Jaws which was too daft for words. Dalton was set to play him again in Goldeneye but legal holdups meant that 6 years had passed and he changed his mind and gave the part to Brosnan. What a dammed shame it was because for me Timothy was the best Bond of them all but as it is we only have the two films to enjoy but enjoy we do.

I love my spy thrillers, and The Living Daylights was the perfect 80s spy thriller. It’s not completely humourless and unlike License To Kill, the tone is fairly consistent. LTK starts off gritty, and then is kind of all over the place, including how it treats Cary Lowell’s character. One minute it wants to be ultra dark, then it uses Q and Wayne Newton as wildly out of place comic relief.

The producers should have chosen this for the intro song to "Living Daylights". Their reasoning was that AHA was a more well known band at the time. This turned out to be flawed reasoning. Because AHA were one hit wonders and The Pretenders had several hits. Hynde still performs at concerts to this day. "If there was a man" would have been a suitable intro song because it describes Kara and Bond's relationship and the song is beautiful.

How ironic that the final duo of 007 movies soundtrack - at the end credits - more or less have very much the same theme?. Please don't get me wrong, all others were good in their own way, however in my view : Timothy Dalton's interpretation of 007, is so brilliant that anyone to took on the mantle of 007 (even Brosnan and Craig) weren't going to be as close to the last pair of films in the late 80's.

I SO agree. IN SOME things Danial Craig is pretty OK, but not as Bond. For the Bond movies not to seem silly, it always works best when there is humor and he can laugh at himself. But between the dead dialog, and lack of clever action (not just shooting but FUN action scenes) and Craig's (funeral parlor director) presentation of Bond I have literally gone to sleep during them. I just do not bother with them anymore. So I patiently wait for someone with a sexy fun pulse again to replace him. ;)

Well I think you all said it really quite correctly....beautifully sad ballad by Chrissie and Dalton was and is such a great Bond who brought qualities to the role that none of the others really captured. It is phucking annoying when prats droll on about how Daniel Craig is the best Bond ever....Connery etc: all brought something special that was needed at the time, for the time. Dalton was it ...I wish I had a finger's worth of that cat's style...nuff said.

I was never a big Chrissie Hynde fan, or the Pretenders for that matter. But this may have been the best "credits" song on a Bond film, beginning or ending. Orweller3 is right. Too much droll on Craig and the more Fleming-correct bitter and tormented Bond. I was born in '67. The 007 I've known is from the films, not the books. No offence Ian. Dalton was a damn good Bond. I just wish the storylines to TLD and LTK were a little better.
