I think you're doggone close if not exact with the year on the Double Neck. *Thank you* for not lumping it in with the 1960s models. And also thanks for not calling the pickups "P90s" just because they look similar, because they're not the same beast. They're even 4/10ths of an inch shorter than a P90. Back again on the Double Neck, the Mosrite years from 1970 - 1974 were sometimes a little strange (they sometimes used old stock parts from the 60s, and not all parts "match correctly" in those years,) and this Double Neck looks like one of those early 70s examples.

I must emphasize: just because the guitar's a set neck now, that doesn't mean the modification from a Bolt-On Construction to a Set Neck wasn't original, before it was finished in the early 70s. I also own a 1970s model, a Brass Rail Deluxe model. I also can see through the paint that it was drilled to be a Bolt-On, and then the holes were filled in. As for the bridges, that Gibson Harmonica Bridge on the Guitar part may or may not be original. The Tailpieces, I can't say. Mosrite had a stoptail that was seen on the 350, Blues Bender, and 1960s Ventures Bass models, which I'd have expected them to have used here.

I love this episode. And that Pet Semetary rendition is so heartwarming because it in a way captures the sweet fragility of Joey Ramone while still hitting the aggression all on an instrument that played the songs he loved as a kid - and of course became a part of the Ramones sound.

Another excellent segment. Thanks for the education on Joe Maphis and the playing of the Ramones song. I have been fascinated with size of neck and fret size on the guitars for some time. Some copies put bigger frets on necks, hoping to find similar guitar one day.

Buck Owens also used a custom red, white, and blue Mosrite on Hee Haw. Hallmark makes reproductions and they look pretty rad.

J. Ramone, ‘65 Ventures II $937,500.00 at auction. Mosrite Surfrider, priceless. Tokai Humming Bird, the inevitable Japanese copy.

That's because it was his guitar, though. Any Ventures II "Slab" that wasn't his, isn't worth as much - though they're still worth a good bit ($5,000 - $12,000 range, but I can't say how much exactly.) Only up to 150 were built, maybe not even that many, so the demand for an original is high compared to how many there are. Note, though, Mosrite made two Ventures II models. They re-used necks from the Slab on the newer one, then they just didn't change the name until March 1966, when they changed it to "the Ventures Mark V model." The second Ventures II is not worth near as much, but it's still a good guitar if you can handle the narrow fretboard.

Nice stuff, but why would they not want to be Mosrite? Isn't the whole point of the video to highlight this brand?

It's a pun. "If this is wrong, we don't want to be right." They're not saying Mosrites are bad, they're not saying they don't want to play them. It's just a silly pun that's not to be taken too seriously.

Kurt's Sunburst Mosrite was a variant of the Mark V model. He also had a Blue Mark V, though he never played it that I know of - the best Nirvana recording with it had his Guitar Tech playing it for "Very Ape" in the Roseland Ballroom show. And no, they're not to be confused with his many Univox Hi Flyer models, which are not the same thing. Those were Imports that were sold in Sears Catalog in the early 70s.

You guys should do less band jam videos and maybe dust and clean up the guitars in the store. I go into the store once a week and just amazed at how dusty the new guitars are. We are talking guitars ranging from 3K-7K with a thick layer of sticky dust all over them. Maybe have one of your employees simply walk around the store with a towel and just start grabbing guitars off the wall and give them a quick 1 minute wipe down, Nothing major. Customers including myself might be more inclined to purchase a guitar that didn't feel like it's covered in grime when we grab one off the wall.

What? Andrea's request doesn't look or sound like unreasonable to me. These videos are fine, but a bit of dusting like once a month can't hurt either. Really though, it's like asking a guitar store to do what they're in business to do. What? What's so wrong about that? Edit: there were 2 replies above mine, and they seem to have been deleted by now. They thought Andrea was "disrespectful" or "was being a Karen." Edit 2: Now I see the replies again. YT is weird sometimes.

There is no dichotomy here. Both things, or neither, can happen. You can like this video without criticism. It's possible. The truth is out there.

@@seusicha How am I a Karen? I spent a lot of money at CME each year. I visit the store on a regular basis and just shocked at how the high priced guitars are so disgusting sometimes. There used guitars they don't even bother giving a quick 5 minute cleaning, They just go right on the wall. A store with such a well known reputation, I would expect a little more from. Just my 2 cents.

If it doesn't work for you, alrighty then. But they /are/ comfortable for me, and I get to rest my forearm in the German Carve, and that sort of aims my arm to strum towards the neck pickup area. Really though, it *was* often difficult for me to enjoy Stratocasters because they're just so common that it felt boring. It's not like that now, but it *was.* ... Buying my 1966 Kay made me feel like "Augh, I could really go and enjoy a Strat now" which I never thought much beforehand (the Kay's still good for other things, but it helped me feel like "Doggone, I appreciate Strat tone now because of what this Kay isn't.") Then I heard a Rory Gallagher song that also helped change my opinion.
