The "comparison isn't good" is something insecure, mediocre and greedy "artist" have used through the years because they don't understand art and what makes art... Well art, they're just here because they realized people pay for drawings, they don't care for you to improve, they just want to protect their fragile ego Comparison, imitation, copying, these are the basics of the basics of art, even the great masters of old day followed these principles, they understood in order to make something unique you need to take things that already exists, is the essence of existence as a whole and by extension, of art

@@etherealhatred The reason people say comparison is not good isn't because of some weird elitist thing you made up. The reason why people warn against comparison is because many people get too obsessed with comparing themselves to those they deem superior, and becoming crushed by the expectations and standards they impose on themselves while having little way in actually achieving their goals. A lot of people are conditioned to think that failure is bad, making mistakes is bad, if you do something, you must make sure you succeed, you must make sure there is noticeable progress every time, if you can't do it, then you're a failure, and failure is bad. Therefore you shouldn't bother if you can't succeed. And since many people succeeded before you - why should you even bother? You can't catch up anyway, they are too far ahead. And thus a person falls into depression and their self-esteem flops flat on the ground. A passion killed. Comparison is the thief of joy is a saying specifically for this reason That's why people warn against comparison, or more specifically, toxic comparison, that imposes limitations and fears upon the creator, the fear that they won't measure up to their idols, that their work will always be shit because they didn't start earlier, that they won't be able to catch up. The good comparison you are trying to talk about in your misguided attempt at demonizing good advice is actually called inspiration. You read or see a work, and you must feel inspired to work harder, not compare your current work to the work of a master and say "my stuff is shit, it does not compare to my idol, and they only reached success within X years while I already spent Y years and still got nowhere". Inspiration, not comparison. And if you compare - you must do so objectively for the purpose of learning, not tearing yourself own, in other words - study. I am not sure if you come from a place of jealousy or hate like your name implies, but your advice is not helpful as it only tries to fuel more hatred towards other people instead of unifying us as a community. You are training people to be spiteful and antagonistic, not supportive and proud of their work. Being an artist is already hard enough for everyone who does art, don't pour more fuel on an already burning forest.
@Caduceus44421 күн бұрын
Did you copy a story and called it your own? No? Than don't compare it with others. Can you compare an elephant to a black hole? Of corse not, they are different concepts that just don't align in any way. Your work is unique, don't pretend it's just like the others.

It's like digging through fanfiction. There are some truly amazing pieces of art among them. If you do not have a summary, or there is a distinct lack of tags, I won't read it. It won't matter how good it may be. You can't tell me what it's about, so why should I bother figuring it out? There are literally 553k other fanfictions I could read instead of yours. And that's just those listed on AO3. Just to take Harry Potter as an example. I have spent hours, time and time again narrowing down my search to find exactly what I want, while filtering out exactly what I don't want. That's why tags are necessary to have a chance of finding anything in a sea of more than half a million stories that are basically variations of the same thing. And when you want something so specific it doesn't even exist, you either deal with it or write it yourself and you find yourself researching something as obscure as wand woods and trees native to Egypt for 3 hours. And those pesky werewolf stories that swarm my email inbox from time to time. They're all so incredibly boring. I've never managed to sit one through to the end. It's like having the same guy ring your doorbell, trying to make you believe he's a different person every time, while all he's done is change his outfit. Occasionally there is something a little different, but once that wears off, oh, it's just the first guy's identical twin. Identical in all the ways that matter.

He always remembers everything except for his second life that he for some reason can't recall. He knows that he lived that life, but he doesn't remember what happened there. And as he lives thousands more lives and gaining different perspectives, he slowly starts piecing together what his second life was about. But the catch is it's so painstakingly slow that he slowly starts losing sense of himself and his identity. Oh, and he can also enter a dimension that contains all of his past lives and chat with them or smth. There's a lot more i thought about it in my head but i forgor about them lol All that aside, my story is definitely for people who overthink too much about life and it's reasons. Sounds cool and I have a lot of questions (which is good)but I’d recommend adding a why “like why is the robot tasked with being human” it would make people more interested and make it stand out from stories with similar plots for example I’m writing a story were”a dragon becomes a teacher and tries to learn what it means to be human.”sounds similar to yours right? To a reader the only difference is weather they like dragons or French robots more but my why is because “all the other dragons are trying to eat her so she had to run away to the human world”now not only dose it stand out a little more but makes the reader ask more questions like” why are they trying to eat her?” Which makes them look at your first chapter but it also keeps it vague but at the same time more specific Sorry if I yapped 😅
@Dumb_Plushie27 күн бұрын
@Bigflatop it is fine, I was asking for opinions, and a yapfest is to be expected. As for the reason, I purposefully left it out because it should not matter to the robot of the story. It's not "sentient" like the ones from anime or cartoons and adheres to its programming. Hence, it only does what it's being tasked to do, unless the purpose behind its directive is important to carrying it out. Perhaps I will address it at some point or another.

The Head of a special Task Force is in bed with a crime family and is also the Mayor which will be concealed from the audience until much later in the Series while the one that appears as the villain is really the good guy who's objective is to bring down the Mayor who's secretly involved with organised crime ,who's police operations only serve the purpose of elimination of all competitors so that there is a monopoly on all organised crime such as the illegal arms trade, the drug trade and the illegal organ trade. The Hero's acts appears to simply be heists and acts of senseless violence which will be shown ,later in the Series to be needed in order to eliminate obstacles in the way of toppling the Head Crime family.

He maybe dreams in and is in a coma or smth? Idk. Also, if you don't have an aspect to make it interesting enough for the reader, just a guy who wants to find a job isn't interesting if you ask me. In the last part, he maybe becomes a mafia boss for money and dies, but comes back into the real world from his coma when he dies in the isekai one. I don't want to hate you my guy, just saying. I just want to make your idea better cause i find potential. Hope I helped

@ΟΙΚΟΝΟΜΟΥΣΤΕΛΙΟΣ Actually, it can make sense, depending on what the method is that brings him over. Maybe a group in the different world opened a portal ala Gate and decided to kidnap people. Maybe a cult summons them for an offering. Etc. Also, kidnap can be interpreted in a more indirect way, such as meaning that the protag was transported to this other world against their will without being reincarnated. In a way, Subaru from ReZero was kidnapped.

My story is about a young adult, Jackie, dying before he gets the chance to properly get onto his own feet in life. He becomes a reaper, being told by King Lucifer that if he helps [this many] souls cross to the afterlife, that he would be given the chance to go back to the real world, where his best friend is alive and grieving. But once he reaches that point, his mentor, Vito, reluctantly tells him that it was a fake promise-that it is impossible to get a second chance at life-just to keep him motivated and to prevent him from spiralling into depression. Now he has to learn to accept his fate and move on, learning to heal with the people he's met along the way, and to help them become better people in return. He has to learn to focus on the present instead of the past.

Origin Soulfire is about a boy named Detchi who was falsely accused for destroying his village after coming out of the rubble completely unscathed. Suspected of being a Devourer, a creature created from the darkness of a person's soul, his entire life is spent in service of a war-torn world, being treated as a monster and forced to create weapons of mass destruction. He dreams of one day breaking free from his prison in order to become an Exterminator, fight Devourers, and kill the one responsible for destroying his village, taking away his life, and dooming him to a life of being deemed lesser than a person. It's a story that tackles heavy subject matter, going over the contradiction of morality, what it means to be human, what makes someone a monster, the trauma caused from endless violence, trauma caused by the manipulation of those traumatized by said world. However, Origin Soulfire teaches the audience that despite all of these awful aspects that make up our world, that through it all lies the collective will of humanity to keep fighting for a future where the generation afterwards can be happy. It teaches you that the only thing that separates a human from a monster is the willingness to do what's right despite the temptations brought about by darkness, the choice to change who you are, and become something greater than you thought you could ever become.

My story is about a woman whose childhood desire of wanting happiness is warped into achieving success at all cost. In her pursuit of success and fear of being left behind, she'd forsake her happiness ironically , and this alienation of belief leads her to live a soulless life. Only after she's transported into a videogame- her childhood fantasy turned nightmares, for being distractions that got in the way of her childhood, but also being the thing that made her happiest- with only the memory of her last night before deliverance, she rekindles her past and discovers a life of what she could've been, while conflicting with the life she's built and left behind. She holds the power to make either scenarios -This current fictional paradise or her grueling past as her reality, and once given the choice she's finally able to distinguish happiness from success. This is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi currently published on Tapas and I've worked for over two years just to describe it this simply, It's only a novel but I'll fight tooth and nail to have it illustrated someday, it's titled "Deliverance: Her False Paradise"

Glad I stumbled upon this video, because I do struggle with the identity for my story. It's kind of a monster slayer action, hero's training, overcoming of trauma, and somewhere in the middle a sort of "murder mystery" is added into the mix. So it's really difficult to properly classify my story. As for the elevator pitch, I didn't have any, but here's an attempt. @@outcast4087 according to your elevator pitch: "Human fears become real and come into our world in the form of abominable monsters" are the devils from chainsaw man, nearly the same exact thing. "international organisation hunting and killing those monsters. There's also superpowers." is basically JJK, but minus the international part. monster slayer action (both series) hero's training (most shounen) overcoming of trauma (both series don't have already traumatized characters much, they gain more trauma as the series goes on, then resolve it) I guess great minds think alike.

7:00 This is something I never considered before, but it's absolutely 100% correct. I think one of the better examples of this idea is Dangan Ronpa. If you asked anyone to describe it, they'd probably say something like "It's Ace Attorney meets Battle Royale" (or Hunger Games if they don't know what Battle Royale is for some reason). And it's not like they're wrong about that, or anything! But actually playing Dangan Ronpa makes you realize that knows that it's much more stylistically unique than one may assume based on that description alone. I haven't really seen anything that can be described as "Dangan Ronpa but X" (beyond other works by the same company with the same artist), but I know that if I _were_ to see something like that, it'd give a very different message than "Ace Attorney meets Battle Royale/Hunger Games but X" would.

My story is about a group of friends who form a detective agency to track down interdimensional creatures and restore balance to the world. That's the basic concept however there's so much more to it than that. And I just can't wait to get started. (coming soon to youtube by 2028 - 2032 at this rate this is the latest I hope for.) LOL.

Many stories lack this "magical" ingredient, and so they seem and or are boring. so yes, a strong story identity, it definitely a big part of this spark

Well, i have 3 stories to write. 1. This story about a transfer student who found himself to fighting virus program in cyberworld and become sentinel substitute with his friends to defeat an evil super AI. 2. This story about a psychopath ghost hunter who have reputation as most fearful hunter in ghost realm. But in other side, he's very nice, kindhearted and supportive as a person(simply, he's not a bad guy). And this story will focused more in characters. 3. This story about a young woman with fabricated memories who try to remember who actually she is. Edit: this story is tied to each other/in one universe. Edit 2: so to simplified this, it'll be: 1. It's like code lyoko with persona mix (and its worldbuilding will be more big than code lyoko) 2. Metroidvania with rural setting and also persona mix, jjk, and dandadan. 3. A space for the unbound/Until Then Edit 3: oh, and 3 of them are game!

I will use one of my three ongoing as an example to answer this hypothetical question. What is it about? Literally, it's about a group of magical girls who need to defeat an ancient demon hellbent on revenge-killing every single god ever. Thematically, it's about the struggle between progress and stagnation that plagues societies throughout history, coming of age (as these types of stories usually are), and rectifying the evils caused by our past mistakes. Why would someone read it? If they want cool, detailed action scenes, very cute yuri, tragic characters, monster of the week hijinks, a serious latter half story, and a very well developed and intimidating villain. It's made to send you on an emotional rollercoaster as you follow the day to day lives of the protagonists who need to resolve all of their years of built up drama before the climax. One chapter you'll be laughing you ass off at the crazy nonsense the comedic relief villains are doing to harass the magical girls, and the next you'll be quivering in your boots because the REAL villain just did something so despicable that it puts the entire story in a new light every few chapters. Its identity is that of a half-and-half lighthearted/serious coming of age modern fantasy with heavy subtext of philosophy and metaphysics. It wears its inspirations on its sleeve and plays heavily into them to create a unique fusion.

My story is about two teenage students, a girl and a boy who lives in a semi-futuristic world. They went on a road trip to escape from earth. Droids, cyborgs and mechs exits in this world. The two of them were tired of school life that is always in virtual reality. They wanted to enjoy life. Everywhere except the city is abandoned, where they discovered terrible truths and different people. The theme is mostly about what is the purpose of living and to enjoy what is present

This feels like some of the stuff I read from The Craft of Emotional Writing and Wired for Story. Gotta know the core emotion you're promising to your audience, as well as what the core theme, and the overall plot in the most distilled form. For example Lurker: Hardboiled detective has to slay an eldritch god with the help of the girl who summoned him. Starway: A spec-ops team has to destroy a space elevator to prevent an invasion. Mineshaft: A spec ops team has to contain an eldritch entity after a mining company breaks open it's cage in the heart of a mountain Cassandra's Fall: A high powered executive has to survive on a ringworld after she's abducted and dropped in the alien equivalent of a hostile savannah. Spidereater: A young girl has to survive in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, evading monsters and, worse, boys. All have clear promises of plot, emotional stakes, and themes without getting too detailed or convoluted.

My current story is about a group of nine people (initially seven, two others join later on in the story) who act as a "clean-up crew" for the gods. 'The Old World' (a single universe, called "The First Creation" by the group) was littered with problems that made it a literal hell for any person trying to survive. It was eventually destroyed (unintentionally), and it's fragments were used to create a new multiverse. But since the old was used as a blueprint, 'The New World' has the old world's problems manifest in it various ways, and these nine people have made it their mission to make right what the god's couldn't. The story plays out as an extremist view on the world's issues. The setting is extremely bleak in every universe that isn't under the control of the group. Countless times, morality is questioned and trampled on by the antagonists and common people in the unfathomably large world. The members, merely human, are expected by the masses in the only universes they have under control to just 'take on infinity' and 'fix things', the societal expectation so unbearably ever-present that the members have to spend decades in isolation and self-discovery (many still having to find their bearings even during the story) - many doubting if this really is what they may have to spend their entire lives protecting. Each member is noticeably flawed and yet have to be perfect to accomplish their goal or die trying, as each threat only gains more and more power as the story goes on. The themes are actually drawn heavily on religion (Christianity, something I believe in) or can only really 'exist' because of it. There are references and ideas linked to it many times - as an impossibly dark world can only ever be brightened by a light far beyond impossibility.

I was only now building the characters I got (who are not OCs from other people) so that I have a concise timeline on hand while I write what is essentially a serialized trilogy+prequel. And trust me, I would make the prequels be the first thing to happen, but in this particular case, I feel it being justifiably shown at an opportune moment instead. This is ME taking the lead we are talking about, so bear with me for a minute. Despite being inspired by Undertale, my theming draws into a meta and rather sadistic nature within an RPG premise-except in a odd visual novel form (not doing it on WebToons). Sort of like how Reboot the old TV series was made to BE a game. I could even get a little more creative thanks to the 10-year time gap during conceptualization. Fair warning: If the series goes any further, in my mind, the trilogy (and prequel) would be rated 13+ while further stories would be 16+ to initiate a "coming of age" story.

My story is about an apprentice mage cursed with immortality by his master, it tells a tale of how the mage must train his own apprentice realising what his own master went through and why he was so harsh on him, learning the truth that the curse is a barrier that keeps innocent lives from being constantly hunted by beasts of phantasmic origins. Knowing his life will end the second the curse is passed onto his apprentice, he rejects his apprentice's feelings towards him, wanting to make sure she does not end up like him constantly wishing for death to come, which constantly hurts their relationship and creating a rift between them. And yet their feelings only getting stronger as they spend their time together. The main theme behind the story is Disconnection from others, burden of immortality, and the inevitability of losing the ones you love no matter how hard you try. The story has major links to things like suicide (with the MC constantly wanting to end his life), and how his master's sacrifice led to attachment issues, causing the MC to not be able to build proper friendships I hope this makes sense 😓

I'm going to write here to practice writing a few summaries because I noticed that I'm not very concise, so I need to practice: 1. The young future sucessor of the Governor wants to run away from his steampunk City because of the arranged political marriages awaiting him and his close friends, who are all part of the City's upper class. This group of 4 friends are all facing their own issues brought to them by these marriages. 2. In a space fantasy world, a depressed researcher is desperately trying to find a path to immortality by becoming a Spirit without dying first because he always feel like he is running out of time--ironically, a thought caused by his constant isolation when pursuing the research. One day, one such Spirit named the White Rabbit visits him and tries to talk some sense into his situation. 3. A young woman hikokomori in the near future created an AI "boyfriendbot" for herself, keeping him near her 24/7 inside her mansion. As the boyfriendbot began to grow more and more sentient/curious about the world outside, she began to be more and more scared to let him go even though she knew she should. Meanwhile, the boyfriendbot begins to feel guilty that he wants to leave because he was betraying his purpose of being created: being her boyfriend. 4. In a medieval fantasy world, two "Saints", which are immortal creation of a particular god, navigates a human town together for the first time. Before this, all they've known is a little innocent and idealistic community consisting of 2 other Saints (4 Saints total). Human towns are complex, horrifying, and beautiful all at the same time.

I’m making a series and started another, they’re heavily based off of a book series I highly enjoy. The first is about a teenage girl who is wiped of her memory of her imagination, which is a huge world consisting of about two sub worlds. She’s waken up in the middle of the night by a fairy who came to warn her about that world’s possible destruction, and soon she’s in that world, led to… The four girls from doki doki literature club. (Don’t ask, I like that game.) She forms deep bonds with the girls, and soon they’re being manipulated by one of the antagonist’s servants. One attempts suicide, and fails due to the girl’s interruption of the process, One becomes obsessed with their opposite, And the President is given those past events via having dreams. At the climax, the girl has met the other people that she forgot about, and when the antagonist’s face is revealed, she remembers everything, building up the rage inside her to fight. She and her friends eventually win, and afterwards she goes with the literature club to restore the balance of the world (due to the antagonist’s existence) and there one proposed to their opposite. She said yes, and they got married an hour later, with the rest of the activities being on the adjacent day. There’s the first series

My story, when you simply look at it for a moment, might look like a war between two kingdoms who have access to magical abilities, but the main theme behind it all is basically how different beliefs interact with each other and how they mold this world, some of it also being about redemption. I've made some research on religious events because my story has a huge focus on God and basically the fundamental base of the universe. The magic system is connected to the story in a way that each character's magical abilities have some kind of meaning behind them. It also involves a bit of time travel, but that's basically only explained near the end. I haven't taken the idea onto paper, but I already have a lot of fun imagining it and having it play out on my head.

I know this video is for original works and not fanworks, but I'll comment my fanwork anyway for anyone who cares. My top priority series is an Ed Edd n' Eddy AU called Rétro Future, which is based on Y2K Cybercore and other retrofuturism aesthetics. Basically, take the original Ed Edd n' Eddy and add a mysterious parallel Cyberspace dimension to it. It has art, written work, etc. about it and I plan to make much more in the future. It focuses on the exciting intrigue of the concept of a cast for a slice of life show discovering and exploring such an alien setting, primarily. Both the original show and the Y2K retrofuturism aesthetic are things I love, so I put them together and saw what I could do with it. Though, of course, it's for you to decide, whether or not it's worth your investment. All I can say for myself is that it appeals to what I enjoy, and I enjoy making it.

My story is, to put it simply, about OCs, about the characters from individuals and not companies, short intro is that a META cult roams the multiverse (collective subconscious) for stories to destroy (by ruining other stories, either ruining plot points, making it uninteresting or even other stuff to affect the creators so they abandon their worlds), the protagonist is the victim of the BBEG Cult and is throw through a portal into a world that is aware of the threat and is working to fight back, they're there with plenty people from other universes and they decide to group together to defeat the villains by visiting universes in dangers, the key aspect is crossovers, throwing characters that you like in unexpected scenarios, protag, as an OC without a foundation behind him gets to explore worlds with a unique perspective untied to the universe's protagonist, ever wondered what happens to the people on Sung Jin Woo's world that don't have the ability to level up, to see how a normal Hunter's life is? How about in Tomb Raider King, maybe you could accompany a individual Excavation Team untied from the main characters so you can see how crazy it all looks from a perspective at the bottom, the idea is simply to get the fans from one media to accompany you into others, to spread the love, SSS-Rank Revival Hunter and Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint fans reading a sudden Villainess story or even a Romance one, the broad strokes are a commemoration of the media as a whole explored through the eyes of a indie story protag (of course the story can't use big series due to licensing so we'd have to collab with other smaller series but still, the idea is what matters)
@vCHAOTICSTORYv8 күн бұрын
My story is about a man being resurrected however he comes back with memory loss. He meets other quirky guys along with trying to learn how to be normal. He also is trying to figure out his life before being resurrected, like what his name was, what it was like, who he knew, etc. He eventually finds out more than he bargained for and begins to question his true self, learning deep secrets of the ones he recently have met and who they once were to him. (The ending I shall mention with the theme) It’s going to be rather light and humorous, however, bright colors and such with some mystery and horror mixed in occasionally. The theme could be divided into two given how you may look at it: Self acceptance and ‘let the past be the past’ I suppose you could call it. He in the end does realize that he can’t change the past, who caused a ton of issues with his past is over with it or already dealt with, and moves on so he can get better in a sense along with the ones he’s realized to appreciate for helping him. (Those quirky guys I had mentioned are very relevant and each have their own linked ark that relates to one another and the overall plot, however as of right now I think if I wrote about each of them and how exactly they are relevant I would be typing too much)

an idea i've had for a couple of years is something along the lines of: a visual kei bandman that targets abusers and similar types of people and murders them with the goal of saving others, but over time he starts to go insane and becomes delusional as his judgement worsens and he struggles to keep up with his own life. honestly, it'd probably fall around the middle of the artistic/marketable spectrum, probably slightly more artistic cause it does have some commentary and could get a bit political here and there slightly (but then again, that IS how oldschool visual kei is). points on the marketable spectrum because considering that the group the protagonist belongs to is pretty much a fictional visual kei/j-rock band, some stuff COULD be done. as well as a bunch of other fictional bands existing in it. i CONSTANTLY think about this and although i PROMISED myself to try and get the first chapter done a year ago, i didn't. been recently going on and off about actually doing it and this might just be the thing to get me to actually write out the script for the first chapter. i even have a website i coded for it and all (which is ALSO a year old) but nothing actual to put ON there. also got a bunch of character stuff done but i haven't even done the actual thing. this entire thing will prob have some stuff that actually has info on visual kei as a subculture and all probably... i mean it's one of my favorite things so why not? alright im gonna end this here i talk too much

I currently playing around with this story I came up just for fun and there is a high possibility that I may forget about it around the near future, but I hope it will inspire one of you: A Robot from the distant future where all machines killed humanity was about to be reseted from the possible possession of emotions, after reading a love story about a fairy girl. That is until he was sent back in time towards the medieval ages, where there was apparently magic. The Robot was slightly damaged and has to repair by wearing the Radiant Army (the Human Kingdom Army) armor, as he soon collects info on how the humans are planning to eliminate all other magical factions in this world. The Robot was thinking about joining the army, that is until he met a fairy girl and remember the love story, as by some sort of command that directly leads to helping the fairy girl as a priority. Then the two travel through the kingdom for help of refugee, where they meet the other factions, and by fact other fairy girls. To which the robot tries to get attention from to gain some sort of needed data. Now this story is basically a harem iskeai story (A flooded market basically), but it does involve some True Sci-Fi tropes like the robot gaining emotion and the various ways it does that, as it enhances by gaining fairy girls; as well on how a magical world filled with wonder suddenly transformed into a bleak mechanical distopiya like future; and how far could society changes if the past was alter in what way. This may be a mess, and if I decided to make a forum post or a possible web comic, I will determine it in the unknown future.

My story is about this boy who becomes a hero, because one of the heroes saw him attempt to defend himself in a dangerous situation he couldn't escape. At first, it is unclear what the main evil is, most of the conflicts being the hero association performing calculated attacks against villains who disturb the city's peace. On the glorious Heroes' Day, two villain groups attack the hero base, and rapidly escalating stakes leads the main character to awaken his a second superpower that initially lay dormant inside him. Because of this discovery, researchers begin experimenting on him, and the main character is torn between fighting for his rights against the hero association or allowing himself to be treated as a machine for the sake of becoming useful. Thematically, it's about 1) the importance, challenges and consequences of wanting to create a perfect world, 2) figuring out what's real and what's fake to decide who is truly doing the right thing, 3) living with convenient lies vs suffering for the truth

my story is an ironic, borderline-slapstick comedy about two best friends and their misadventures in a vaguely magical modern society. it uses its casual sense of humor to deliver surprisingly deep themes about identity, honor, and whether a deeper meaning to life is actually necessary to find your own purpose. it is side-splitting humor and cathartic introspection all rolled up into a single multicolored package. or at least, i hope so. its still in early development phases

"Well, My Story is Void World, Two Beings one evil and one good fight each other for the domain of a entire Universe (and yes the universe is called void world lol) and the events of such fight determine the story forward, having a last hope for the universe for the upcoming new era of this entire universe and its fate what do you think?" my story is in Spanish, but I doubt even if i try to translate it again like I tried with the 10 comics I made so far but now retranslating the older and translate new ones I guess won't make a difference, and I had been working on void world for 4 years now and made significant amount of content spin offs and many more out of it with the creation of the XLD verse / world that would be a continuation of void world later on. I just hope I have a future doing this.. and I hope I am good at it enough

Let's see. My story is about reaper that needs to learn about emotion, how to "live", alongside with his angel that need to learn to grow, to be responsible and ready for the world. Target audience is young adults who has a problem growing up.

i think you didn't fully understand what was said in the video. it isnt "what do you tell in your story" it is "what do you show in your story" like what does this reaper do to learn about emotion? does it live alongside with humans? (like a slice of life?) does it fight with humans? what happens?

@ ahah…i see. He lives with the angel, a child angel, which full of emotions and reaction. As he teach angel how to be responsible adult, the angel teach him how to loose a little more. they struggling to understand the other side as just their mundane life lives a different way. Someday, nothing might happens. the other day, their neighbor might invite them for a tea party. Learn how to make friends. Learn how having friends is importance. Learn that just mindlessly collecting souls cannot actually is an effective way to do, reaper might missed a soul, causes the unbalanced in nature. Learn to comfort, how and why. Learn that his blunt words and straightforward thinking lead to a consequence later and he needs to change if he wants to fix it. He can observe from the angel or the human neighbor for the other way. He can ask to understand more. First he might not get it, but slowly he will eventually learn it. (There’s also a big entity that can erase his existence if he is too boring but that’s not the big of a deal)

9:29 I think it's interesting how you represented this spectrum because without the instinctive negative bias towards black = bad = marketing, I would have reversed the colors. Marketing is typically putting a bright white spotlight on one's work, while art in its purest form stays behind in the shadows, more obscure to understand.

Thanks actually, you made me think about my story a lil more. I knew what it was about but realized my writing didn't have any of its purpose strung throughout it.

since I've been seeing comments here of others describing theirs, I guess I'll give a small description of my current (and honestly favorite) work it's mostly an adaptation of sorts of one of my top favorite games, but basically the entire region of the main character (based on me) is slowly beginning to be overrun by a corruption caused by an evil ancient deity, and his goal is to stop it from spreading before everything becomes a repeat of thousands of years prior in the process, he discovers a lot about himself he never actually knew until this admittedly long journey, and gains an entire group of friends (which is a lifelong dream of his) along the way it's not done yet, but so far it's been an amazing product of nearly 5 years worth of production

the lesson at the end isn't fully developed since this has yet to be finished, but lowkey I'd say it's that the past doesn't define who we are, looking too far ahead in the future could lead to problems, and to just focus on what we have now

I don't write web comics but I started writing poems about a world I've created and dm some table games and I even found this helpful. It's important to know why you are telling a story. Knowing what inspires you. For me my stories represent my struggles with mental health while being hevaly influenced by mythology and are written like mythology books. I don't really care if people other than my friends read them or not but I'm hoping someone who enjoys mythology would enjoy what I created someday.

The branding thing explains why a lot of people missed out on how epic Odd Taxi was, simply because a solid true-crime style novel was put inside a wrapper of cute animal personas.

The story I am currently focused on (as I have many) is about a world with predetermined fates for all inhabitants. One individual freed from fate seeks to change the fates of others around him and eventually remove fate from the world entirely. He wants the rest of the world to operate off of free will, and by the end he does so, but also sees the consequences of such. Along the way he has to learn the hard way that changing fates is not necessarily a good thing due to butterfly effects, and he realizes being one of a handful of people with truly free will is a responsibility he has to be cautious about. Even then, the protag is not fully free of influences just as knowing how to swim does not free a fish from river currents. It takes place in a world with a sword-and-sorcery type aesthetic. Crumbling empires, savage wars, isolated tribes, dark cults, ancient ruins, so on. But it also has a lot of mythological elements, so gods, spirits, and monsters are also a big part of the setting. I think the best comparison for the world is The Witcher or the Elric Saga but set in Conan`s Hyborian Age.

Here's my elevator pitch for the story I want to work on: Four people from different cultures and points in history are all thrown into this realm created by a god that is meant to systematically break the human mind down with its chaos and cruelty so he is able to get a soul deal out of them. Throughout the book there is a subplot of the entire group's growing affection towards each other, and a romance plot between the sunshine and grumpy character that is happening in the background of all of the fighting and fantasy elements. The main emotions you feel throughout this are bittersweet, as the romantic or friendship building moments between the cast are constantly overshadowed by dread of facing this god. And the ending, which I will not spoil The main themes are that your flaws corrupt the world around you and that people always have a reason for why they act that way.

8:48 So left is Monogatari and right is the average generic isekai. In between are mangas that succesfully fit the market standards but also got enough identity to stand out. Those mangas are the most likely to sell millions and stay in the memories of the most people

Not doing a web comic, but that did make me realize that I need to work on my tags for my videos a little more. Gives me a better idea about how to go about an introductory video for my series:

My story is about an engineer and a biologist struggling with people's expectations and their expectations in a world that is moving onto space while they are studying earth's fauna and flora A comparison would be Slime rancher but with a spice of drama (idk any manga or anime to compare it to D:) The overarching theme of the story is learning to live with the expectations of other people while still letting you be you and allowing yourself to follow what makes you happy

my story is about people in an apocalypse future with powers. They're in a world who everybody has a tatoo in their bodys that tell about their powers and physical condition. For example: I am a guys who likes to draw very much. So, because of this, if i was a character of my own story, i'd have tatoos in my right hand(the one i use to draw), because it's the one i use the most. Also, i'd have tatoos in my legs too, because i used to practice running, so they were quite strong. If i had a power like shooting fire from my mouth, i'd also have tatoos in my throat, because it would be related to this. The same if i had wings. That would cause me to have a tatoo in my backs. In my story, the world is in an apocalypse because of the "Parents Of The Fear". They are creatures that assume the pshysical form of a fear. No matter if it is a commum fear like dark, or some phobia like the sea or even some fear that only 1 person in the planet have. If there is a fear, there will be a Parent for it. They act like zombies; They will always search for a human who has their respective fear. That means that the Talassophobia Parent will always search someone who has Talassophobia. The same way the Coulrophobia Parent would ways search for a person who fears clowns. but as i said, all kind of fears count. The Parents can also be intelligent. The more conscious a Parent is, the more human it looks like. But, the more unconscious a Parent is, the more it'll act like an irrational animal. They can infect people by killing them or causing the most simple damage, like a bite or a scratch. This is, if they manage to be quick enough to infect people, cuz they still need to inject their "poison" in the blood vessels. I got inspired by a lot of mangas i read but specially by Chainsaw-man. I really wish this manga to be a great thing. I know the way'll be long. Sorry if there are any grammatic error, i know a lot of english (that's why your video was very easy to watch and understand ;)) but i'm not fluent tho. Btw, good video. It helped me a lot bro, you have no idea

Pretty interesting premise. I like the overall idea of it. It's intricate but vague enough to garner interest and curiosity. (Well, at least from me.) If you ever publicly release your story, I'd bet people would like it. I definitely like it. It seems very cool. Always keep working hard on what you're passionate about, and find support of others to keep that passion.

I know you are more so talking about webcomics, but this can apply to just stories in general. My goal is to write my own novel series; I've even already gotten started working on it despite me only just starting college (I'm only in the draft and concept phases rn). My biggest fear is that it will get put in the "slop" category just like all the other books you see on the shelves at stores. I'm working hard to figure out how my series can stand out. While I think I've done that to a certain degree, I still feel as it isn't enough. Really good advice that is going to stick in my mind.
