I am a giver, but in NYC there are many people who are on the subways scamming for a hand out every day! I use my wisdom as to whether or not to give as NYC has shelters and food kitchens daily -- so why would they need $$ for food? The taxes collected from the people pay for them. On the other hand, giving funds to someone who over spends and lives beyond their means causing more requests for funds is not a good reason to keep being a giver to that type of person.
