Largest airbag recall in recorded history involves a Japanese company who supplied Toyota. The massive Takata airbag recall is more than doubling in size, with NHTSA announcing that it is expanding the recall to include 35-40 million airbag inflators to be replaced through 2019. This tally is in addition to the 28.8 million airbags already recalled.

During the 1990's, Chevrolet had a bunch of light trucks come off the assembly lines with a pinched heater fan power wire. I had one of them. The wire shorted to the firewall. Warranty fix, no charge. Is the Viper air bag problem caused by too much aerodynamic pressure on the front bumper? When I was driving over the road years ago, a Viper passed me in Utah. He was going extremely fast. I did catch his license plate: VETT ETR

My dad was into classic cars, 1950s and 1960s American cars, and he has owned, and stills owns several. He used to take me to the classic car shows as a kid and I went with him into my adulthood. One thing that I remember is the people who made their own formulations of car products and they would walk around and demo them on your car with your permission. Every once in a while, a product would come along that would knock your socks off. The ingenuity of some folks was just impressive. All things even, the judges looked for that extraordinary detail such as shine on surfaces and there were people who would spend years trying to gain that competitive advantage. The metal polish that was invented by a local man and is now sold by his son reminded me of these types of products.

Great advice on an auxiliary power supply when disconnecting the battery. BMW wanted to charge me $100 to reprogram when changing out a battery. I had them push the car to their parking lot, got a ride home bought a battery and used my battery jump box to power the car CPU for the 10 min change over. Battery $79 vs $350 from BMW!

great intro to the memory saver!.. one tip though is to remember that once you connect up the memory saver and remove the battery, the positive lead from the car battery is now still live because the memory saver is being powered by the other battery! protect the positive lead under the hood/bonnet with some rag wrapped around it and secured with tape. you don't want ot short the positive battery lead to ground via the engine or body.

Magic Guard doesn't have any abrasives in the product. For this reason, it wouldn't be able to scratch the wheels. @kenball19805 жыл бұрын
The jump box only puts out big amperage when under a load. If you don't turn the key to start the cars only pulling a few amps at most. I've worked in the retail used car business for over 15 years, the jump pack I currently have on my bench, I've had for almost 5 years and still works perfect after replacing hundreds of batteries.
@2010ngojo5 жыл бұрын
@@raymonds5069 The starter only pulls the current it needs. The jump box doesnt straight up give out its max current unless the starter needs it. So likewise, the ecu will only pull what it needs to stay on, not 1200 amps obviously. Otherwise, you shouldn't be using a 1200 amp jump box in a small car. But of course, you always use a box that is rated higher than what the vehicle actually needs to start.

Maybe the Viper recall is related to the additional Takata recall that applies to older BMW's, Audi's, etc. The advice we have in Australia is to not drive the car at all because the activator has become unstable and can go off at any time. BMW are going above and beyond because they will pick up your car and take it to the dealership for replacement or even buy the car back.

Hey Scotty, you need to tell everyone about in addition to look for grounding problems. Most cars especially Fords, all have painted ground surfaces where the battery chassis ground is connected in the engine compartment where the weather gets to it causing it to oxidize and makes a lot of weird things happen concerning the computer and all the electrical systems.
