as someone who has worked for a hotel, i suggest booking rooms as early as possible. waiting until the last minute is actually a horrible idea (especially for something like graduations and weddings) and some hotels will actually jack up prices during big events because they know that some people will be so desperate for a room that they will pay that price if they believe nothing else is available. if it is a big event that you need to stay at a hotel for, try to book no later than a month before your arrival date and ALWAYS call the hotel to see what they do and do not offer. sites like princeline and booking will flat out lie to you and say hotels have or offer certain things when they actually don't. they do that in order to get their commission.

Its true every hotel I've ever worked at never washed the extra blankets or comforters only the sheets get changed and washed. But I did work for a 5star resort and we always washed the comforters and curtains and walls etc.. during the off season. But motel rooms don't do this .

I work in the marketing department for a major global hotel corporation. Booking rooms late does not save you money. Booking extremely early usually does then check back frequently to see if the rates drop and ask if you can get the better rate if it does drop. We always hike prices for the day of check-in.

Some hotels are eco-friendly, wishing to only wash towels if needed by the guest to save water and unnecessarily polluting the environment with waste detergents. Look for the sign in the bathroom that announces: "If you want your towels washed, please leave them on the floor for room staff." You can always tell when the towels are washed and freshly laundered.

About the hotel giving you two keys at the beginning and how they reset it, that isn't actually how it works. As you check in your room on a hotel, they will give you two keys instead of one, once you use either one, they will still both work, as for The Grandview at Las Vegas however, they give you two keys still, but the difference is, that you get TWO rooms instead of one! And also in a separate building. Crazy right?

I went to a hotel and I checked the towels and the bed. I found many hairs. It was disgusting 🤢 and also dangerous because we are still in quarantine and what is the past people who were there were infected? After we talked to the person in charge of cleaning about it, she kept apologizing, and I told her "if I hadn't seen that and me and my family get infected YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS AND YOU HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF ME AND MY FAMILY "I will never go to that hotel again 😒

My tips would be cover the peep hole with tape (if it has one; I usually carry a small roll of electrical tape as some don't have the covers -- some do); cover the gap under the door with a towel and maybe even put something in front of it so if someone tries to push the towel away you'll hear it, maybe a glass or something that would make noise. Now sometimes some hotels do push your receipt under the door, but I haven't seen this that often and usually only if you elect for early check-out and on the morning you check out.

Always check the EMERGENCY map on the inside of the door to the room and note the assembly point. Be sure to ONLY use the EMERGENCY stairs in case of fire. People can become trapped in lifts and elevators -- you've seen the movies.
