How gorgeous and sensational is the true genius behind the band, Michael Corby !!!

I just DIG the fact that it’s ARETHA introducing the band. What a colliding of worlds.

A nice cross between hard rock and smooth pop, The Babys are quite underrated.

I still remember hearing this song, seeing the album cover and falling completely in love. After all this time I'm still listening to The Babys! Love you Michael Corby
@d.nakamura95798 ай бұрын
It’s weird that it’s Corby taking the guitar solo. I was always so pretty sure it was Wally Stocker who took this and the vast majority of all the solos when they were both in the band

Is Waite playing a Zemaitis bass there ? It sure looks like one.

Yes, a very hot looking bunch of band members.

I'm 69 going on 70. I've been a fan of the Babys and John Waite since day one. His voice is phenomenal. Better than Plant, Perry, Rose, Mercury, and other rock icons. Better than all pussy pop vocals today.

John Waite went on to have huge #1 hits with his solo 1984 hit "Missing You" and another #1 with the group Bad English "When I See You Smile" in 1989. And the song that the Babys are most famous for and one that still gets airplay on classic rock stations "Everytime I Think of You" from 1979.

Wow... One of my favorite bands - The Babys. John Waite had such a career in rock. They always reminded me of The Cars, but with a bit more polish...

Loved Midnight Special. Fought sleep to watch it before VHS recorders so l could view it later.😊 The Babys were underappreciated at the time, but l am glad up and coming generations are discovering them.😊

They did "Everytime I Think of You" on this in 1979 with Jonathan Cain in the band.
@StephanieJeanne8 ай бұрын
@@gregoryduncan3067 Hmm. Has that already been released as a clip?🤔 I know I saw a video somewhere recently of them doing it. I don't think it was TMS, though. Idk.
@gregoryduncan30678 ай бұрын
@@StephanieJeanneThey did it on the Midnight Special. It was released on that Time Life DVD Collection they put out.
@stevezoso8 ай бұрын
@@gregoryduncan3067 Jonathan Cain joined the band just after the Head First album was done, which Every Time I Think of You was on, so he didn't actually play on that. But he did play it live with them, I saw them open for Alice Cooper at that time.

I got to ask John Waite if he still has the Zamaitis Bass.. he does! He also still has that voice!!
@curtisphilumalee14478 ай бұрын
I was wondering if that was a Zemaitias bass. I didn’t realize that he was making basses in 77. I would love to have an early one. So bad ass.
@KittyGrizGriz8 ай бұрын
Bass is my favorite instrument, so sexy sounding thanks for naming the brand. Hadn’t heard of it before, ex husband was a bass player, and heartedly agree about John’s voice here, great! People underestimate how hard it is to sing lead while bass playing, skills!

I saw them open for Journey May of 1980! I beleive it was their last tour as they broke up and Jonathan Cain joined Journey. Great concert! 🎸🎸

My brother Chris was his guitarist in the early 70s. They played the North of England in those days. John was such a tart, but he was a lovely guy. Keep these videos coming cause Chris isn't well now. He's in Lancaster Royal Infirmary with kidney problems Love to you all, his brother Nick Phillips.🎸

Fab! Love how Aretha enunciates “Babyyss” haha cute, Oooh the band is hot! They sound fabulous too! Like this, yes I’ve got the time Babys 🙋🏼♀️. . . Bassists who can sing lead are so cool, it’s a lot harder than it looks!!

wow. this is the BABYS I remember with John Waite on bass and vocals! this is killer. My favorite Babys song. They cut out the drum ending but it sounds better. Whoever thought of taking Waite of bass and putting getting another bass player was a idiot! This band rocked and was tight. There's no 'new' band out there today can rock like this. great song.

Take Peter Frampton, have him drink all day long, then wheel him up on stage. That gives you the “Babys.”

Great band live, but the production on the albums sucked all the life out of them. (
@d.nakamura95798 ай бұрын
There is a reissued box set that fixes that, especially the first album. Check it out, it’s totally worth getting

My friends went to one of their concerts and were disappointed that they were "just another rock band". (:
