I made mine from 100% hemp denim. I wore it for about 1½ years daily till they got holes, although I used the cheapest 100%hemp denim I could find. Worth it. Normal jeans from the Store I wear out in 8 months (frontpocket holes in about 3 months) If you once tried on hemp jeans, you don't want to wear cotton jeans ever again. (Hemp is like Linen to the touch and gets very soft with washing)

My thighs touch eachother since ever. I wore jeans 30 years ago, LEVIS jeans, not stetchy ones, the 501s. Managed to wear out this part of them in every single pair of them. But I did wear them daily, 24/7 Material can only last this much if being rubbed constantly.🤷♀️Does not depend on quality, really

Oh man! Girl you are speaking my language. I too have trouble finding jeans that fit well and when I do and go to buy more they are discontinued. I have done this technique to fix chub rub wear in the crotch of my jeans. Except I used the zigzag stitch. I will definitely give your back and forth stitching a try. It looks like it will be an even more secure stitch. I really wish that the designer world would see the struggle that most women and some men have with this issue and reinforce the inner thigh area of our jeans. Thanks for sharing.

I do Japanese mending on my jeans. It looks fancier, but we're talking about a couple of hours of making lots of clean running stitches vs. a few minutes on the machine to get a functionally identical result. I do like to patch the area with bias cut muslin when the material gets thin, that way it's never allowed to completely fail and the material underneath is less bulky. Great tutorial! I might have to go your route now that my work is keeping me too busy to mend my jeans the fancy way.

Wow… that’s a great way to do it.

I do the same using Ankara fabric in the inside and lots of different coloured embroidery thread. It is slower but I put some music or a book on and take my time knowing I’ve got a few more years wear out of the jeans 😀
@GavinBisesi Жыл бұрын
"I do like to patch the area with bias cut muslin" does that mean you do a denim patch on the inside paired with muslin on the outside, or do you use the muslin on the inside? Newbie sewist here

While I do love, love, love and admire those lovely japanese mending stitches, I want instant solutions and will go with speed over looks anytime. It is my characteristic, that I don't necessarily love or approve, but have accepted it at my ripe age of 46 😂So this video is just what I need.
@blazertundra4 ай бұрын
@@GavinBisesi sorry, just saw this now. It's only the bias cut muslin as a patch. However, I only use it to reinforce a thin area that hasn't failed yet, and apply Japanese style mending to marry the two fabrics. The goal is to make the fabric last until it literally wears all the way through.

That is the first thing I learnt to sew on the machine when I was a teen, because I'd bring my grandma so many pairs of trousers, she just sat me down and showed me how to do it. If the patches wear down again, I usually reinforce them again and cut them off for one more life cycle as summer shorts until they eventually land in the bin.

Any recommendations how to fix this? I was thinking of just getting some fusible mesh fabric to go over the stitching on the inside but I'm worried that it may just make the rubbing problem worse.

Thanks for this. I don’t have a sewing machine so this is still not possible for me. My wear tends to be a big lower in the thigh. I wonder if you dye your jeans after the mending it would also hide the (cotton) thread and lighter fabric?
@stiongco4756 Жыл бұрын
I've dyed a pair of jeans once before. I bought them because I loved the fit but hated the color and they didn't have another option left. There are great tutorials on you tube of how to dye jeans. Using the RID navy and black dye works well for dark jeans. But a test fabric first if you're concerned about getting a certain color. I like indigo jeans most so the navy & black dyes work well to get that. My first try didn't come out exactly as I wanted but they still looked good and much better than light washed jeans. I've heard it works well to refresh older faded jeans too so it would probably help match repair threads just fine.

I have a pair of very old yoga workout pants that are wider in the thigh area so they are a little looser I have literally never had them go bad after all these years. They are about 78% cotton, about 20% polyester and about 2% spandex. It seems to be the perfect combination for these particular pants. I have tried to find jeans that are a little looser in the thigh area and it seems to help a little and give a little bit more longitivity. And I wear blue jeans that are tighter around the thigh then that's where the rubbing happens the most. I recently found some incredible jeans but I don't know the name brand there is a tag but it just says jeans and then they're not like a size system like 12 14 16 they just say large. I really would love to know even if it is a off-brand what they are but I have looked and looked to see if I could figure this out the tag is no numbers just says jeans and then size large. They fit me so comfortable around the waist...I like high waist. And I'm trying not to over wear them They are slightly looser in the thigh area so I know that means I probably will have them last a little longer. And I do understand that a lot of women want to wear jeans that are tight because it shows off their curves. However I'm an older woman now and that doesn't really matter to me anymore. LOL 😂 I mean I do want to look good, I'm married, I'm not looking to find me some young hot guy. And even if I was looking, I would want a mature man that had all his ducks in a row. Not looking for a hot little thing.
