Thanks for all the videos Allen, they are much appreciated. Dead apps are always going to be an issue with older, better made, repairable TVs as manufacturers try to force you to upgrade. My 15 year old Pansonic plasma works just fine with a Google Chromecast HD plugged into a spare HDMI, all the current apps I need are there. Cheers Ian E

Common theme on here with Panasonic plasmas and their reliability/longevity. Mine, a 54" Viera, is around the same vintage as yours. Purchased it from Good Guys here in Australia and knew from the start I was on a good thing due to it being actually manufactured in Japan which, even back then, was rare. Only things it lacks are 4K and smart capability. I've been contemplating upgrading to maybe an 85" 4K but after a lot of research I'm starting to think there is no value in the new tv's, premium or others, due to their reliability/longevity problems and will, more than likely, only get a new one when my current one finally fails. When that time does come I will only be buying a middle to low level tv to save some money and therefore lose less when that one needs replacing. We definitely live in a throw away world now.

I bought a Samsung 47 inch TV back in 2005. It is in-use every single day and it has not given any trouble whatsoever. At the time it was fairly expensive because it had a 120Hz native refresh rate. We 'upgraded' to a Hisense 65H9G which failed after just 4 years of sporadic usage, relegating the Samsung to the workout room in our house. Still working to this day. But I gather the newer Samsung's have a litany of issues. Which is sad.

SAMSUNG. Fooled me once, fooled me twice, three. And I finally learned, I'm never buying this crap again and it's nothing new The primary issue, massive reporting of a specific problem and they always refuse to stand behind their product. Until forced. After you spend a couple hundred hours trying to get them to fix it, which is worth a lot of money Dropped a lot of money on a 46-in plasma around 2004. Hdmi stopped working, Little white spots, wooden reset. I can still watch it if I play with a remote a lot and don't mind all those white dots everywhere. I hear 4 years later, when I was overseas, they offered warranty on it finally. Home theater. Once again, It was like it programmed itself to do nothing, and eventually I just used it as a radio receiver until it started smoking one day Samsung Galaxy S2. Just before warranty expired. Little blue dots everywhere and they weren't going to honor it but they finally did, no cell phone for 4 weeks. I went into an appliance store, a major one and I pointed that the Samsung and the salesperson said, don't buy Samsung. The salesperson inadvertently got my complete trust.

Fun story. My wife and I were coming home one day and we saw our cat on the living room windowsill catching some Sun rays. He watched us walk up our driveway, up the walkway and to our front door, then my wife, for whatever reason, smacked the window to scare him. He jumped ten feet in the air, got caught in the blinds, and jumped right into the back of the TV that she just had me move to that spot, the worst spot possible. That's what I had told her a few days before, when she suggested moving it there, knowing that is the window where the cats hang out and I didn't want them to knock the TV over. I instantly knew that the TV was going to be smashed on the tile floor even though we couldn't see it through the blinds, as soon as she hit the window. So I unlocked the door, ran inside, and sure enough, there the TV was, laying on the tile, broken and unrepairable completely. I don't think I've ever had an "I told you so" moment, in my life that I have said so incredibly passionately. 😂 I asked her, "When you saw the cat and decided to scare it, where did you think he was going to jump? Our window is slightly smaller than the 75" Samsung that was pretty snug up against the wall. So how the cat got up there was a mystery, but how he would get down in a hurry is exactly what I said would happen when she made me move it to that spot. Unfortunately, I did have this model, when the 75" came out, but now it's in the backyard ready for the dump.

I like the adjustments of samsung, but it gives my firewall a workout trying to break out to the internet. What they charge for a remote also terrifies me. Remotes never last. Why do they let europe control the tv with a phone, but not here.

You say the UE-F is the best Samsung. I have the Samsung UE40JU6000. How does mine compare? I ask because I've had it around 7 years and I've been considering updating.

LED screens don't have burn-in issues, yours sounds like dead pixels issue, it may happen randomly, or maybe some failing LED light.
@slider4darkАй бұрын
@@jimbotron70 How is that possible?When some static part of the image is long enough on the screen it stay there like a logo or something else.But when there is movements the problem is gone.I know that I didn't have this problem before.

I'm still enjoying my UA40 D 6000 series that runs almost all day, everyday. I only use heavy backlighting when absolutely necessary. Bought the tv 2011, two years later it developed a computer board fault, they fixed it at no cost, in my house and under high priority...FIVE TIMES!!! I said the right things to them on the original service call!! Anyway...it's still going strong!! I've seen cheap brands at friends houses....i don't know how they can live with them.

Early smart TVs didn't have very well-optimized software. The onboard CPU for running and executing applications was also much slower than what modern smart TVs have. Today, modern smart TVs have multi-core processors that are significantly faster than the old basic CPUs that old TVs had. This is why modern smart TVs run and operate so much more smoothly. Even then, the chips used on old smart TVs were considered quite slow. They were just budget CPUs-the equivalent of what a basic Bare Bones entry-level smartphone would run. Even today, a smart TV uses a bare-bones CPU. It's just that software optimization has been improved. Today, a bare-bones CPU is significantly better than one from 8 or 10 years ago when decoding video and handling advanced color and HDR. Everything is just designed to work together better in terms of raw performance.
