You said exactly everything I needed to hear. I recently filed for full custody against him and I debated if I was doing it out of being reactive to him. I ended up doing it bc he has crossed a boundary with our child by gaslighting her and as I watched him do that to our 5 year old i realized a whole mess of shit that I now refuse to allow for my child. He barely sees her, barely talks to her, and barely financially supports. He’s been keeping me under his thumb by arguing that I try to take her away and put her against him and goes on social media to repost BM that get arrested for those reasons. I filed bc he’s been negligent to her even when I do make the effort and tolerate how he handles her care when she’s actually with him. She always come back upset or sick or both, and to top it off, the main reason, is bc he’s allowing her to sleep on his friends couches with other adults while he runs off and does his thing (drinks, drugs, girls). Stupid me, I used to say he was a great dad but shitty cheating man. I now know I filed bc I’m DONE with holding him accountable over his fatherly duties and responsibilities all while giving him credit and promoting him. I just hope and pray that one day my daughter understands and doesn’t end up a situation like I have bc my childhood trauma that led me to his bullshit all started from an absent mother.
