If you want me to go through the other characters, leave a comment and let me know! PS. I mixed up Siegfried and Lancelot. Sorry about that!

man, if you like and prefer the japanese VA that's great, but cmon don't say that the english steals soul off the game. The english cast was fantastic, they're not souless performances. There's no need to bash the other languages talent to express your love for the japanese cast
@jacchann11 ай бұрын
So true. Was very pleasantly surprised to hear how vibrant and colorful the EN VA cast was in their lines. "Caggy waggy wuvs slides!" got me laughing

My apologies for the wording. Respect for all VAs around the world.

They had some of the master's of English VA in this game, sorry but I'm not missing out on Robbie Daymond as ID, he is so good! Everyone else knocked it out of the park as well, Listening to Gran and Vanes fate episodes, I got a little teary eyed because they were able to bring me into the stories they were telling through their voices. I don't believe that the Japanese Va could do that as easily. An example that I always go back to, being told "I love you" In a language you understand hits harder then being told in a language you don't, imo. Also, just the utility of it as well. A lot of the character interactions happen during combat, and I want to lose myself in the combat because it is hands down the best part of this game and I want to hear what the characters are saying to each other. Having to read sub while in combat(especially playing as Lancelot having to watch for those dodge cues), I am going to miss a lot of what is said. which isn't that a disservice to the art more than having it in English would be, considering Having the voice language set to Japanese would mean I'm missing out on a part of the game the developers intended me to experience. Especially considering that they took the time money and recourses to make this game available in other languages, not listening to the voice over you prefer would be a disservice considering you'd be saying that all that effort to translate the game was a waste...Just saying you haven't convinced me to switch my preferences lol

Powerful statement. I think Ishi worded his video incorrectly and thus the push back is real. I think he meant that when you listen to the Japanese versions of the of the voice acting that there subtleties in the language that are beautiful (not more beautiful). Things get lost in translation, this is a fact but listening to the English version I can now appreciate the effort that was put into it, great game and we all hope that they continue to update the game and push it forward!

@@0urSpace 100% agree, and perhaps I was too forceful in my reply as I am aware, reading some other comments that ishi regrets some of his particular word choice. I wanted to be as informative as i could in my perspective on the topic. I have no doubt that whatever language you listen to in a beautifully crafted game like this it will be amazing. and despite our differing preferences we can all agree that we want more of this!

Thanks for the video, I am now replaying through the story on Ultimate and forgot to change the language from English to Japanese for this second play through. Hearing that the voice actor for Sanji voiced Rackham is cool, as I am a first time One Piece watcher around episode 400 :).

Now that's probably the best way to get the full experience. Playing it over in the other language the second time around to appreciate all of the effort put into this game!

Yeah, I was really suprised at all the high level VAs they hired. I haven't checked but if not they need to get some Tomokazu Seki and Tomokazu Sugita characters in. They're by far my favorite VAs.

I like some voices in DUB same goes in JP, but there's also voices I don't like in dub same goes in JP. for me personally I don't like IO's jp dub the voice is too high/childish for my taste. genshin and star rail did really change a lot of perspective of English dub. but mine goes way back since Valkyrie profile in PS1 when they cast big spells and Golden Boy at English dub.

Yeh ill stick to English. The english VAs are great, and all the JP VAs of the same gender sound like the same person to me. All the guys except Lance and Gran just sound like the same deep voice Japanese man to me and all the girls sound like the same person to me except like Cag maybe? The english VAs on the other hand all sound distinct to me.

Never really understood some people (non-japanese obviously) are so elitist about using Japanese voices in these kind of games. I am sure close to 99 percent of non-japanese players do not understand the language even a tiny bit, this means everything your is just (high pitched) gibberish, something I do not like. I have more connection with characters if I can understand them, and as long the voice acting is at least decent, I would never opt for Japanese. I apply this to anime as well, but to each their own opinion.
@0urSpace11 ай бұрын
that is understandable, I am American and have been living in Japan for more than 14years so I understand where you are coming from, I do not think Ishi meant it in the way that it has been taken. We are all learning as we go on this journey in making content and attempting to grow. Don't taker our passion incorrectly and we will improve our methods going forward, making sure that things are worded more accurately 😀

Completely dismissing the entire ENG voicecast is fucking wild. I thought we left the 'sub vs dub' elitism in the 2010s. I guess some losers haven't gotten the message.
@0urSpace11 ай бұрын
I don't think that Ishi worded his video correctly and this comes with a new channel. We are learning and as an American who has been living in Japan for more than 14years I can say that I understand your passion. I think Ishi just simply meant that there are subtleties and passions they are lost in translation - this is a fact, but both casts or rather all cast did a remarkable job and that's a testament to the effort put forth in the game 😁
@noivern434611 ай бұрын
The fact someone made a video like this blows my mind. The title is incredibly disrespectful to the VA's, You're apologizing in the comments and honestly the first thing you should do is change the title if not take down the video. Yes, the JP VA's are better but that's also because voice acting is way more prevalent in Japanese culture. No matter what way you phrase this, its just flat out rude.
@sYs-tems11 ай бұрын
I gave your comment some thought. The video remains as my subjective take, but I did agree that the title wasn't a correct representation of my opinion, so I'll change that. I did notice that you do agree with me that the Japanese VAs are better, so we I'm happy we some common ground there :)
