Seriously, try it! I picked it up a few years ago, with no real artistic talent. You don't need to do anything detailed, you could just do big loose paintings where all you're doing is laying out big brush strokes of color. It's very calming and meditative, as long as you don't get too much into your own head about what you're painting! And you really only need a handful of colors to start!
