2:03 Facts about “Kimi wa dekinai ko" In this song, a mother tells his son many times how useless he is, and that she'll always have to take care of him. She repeatadly tells him this, until he has enough. The song shows him fade off the screen, and I can theorize that symoblizes him either leaving or commiting suicide. The mother then calls herself a useless child, and says "that child is no more." She expresses how the child “left her and how lonely she is now that they are gone. She says how she wishes she could revert time so the child would not leave. The video then ends with the mom fading out and the song going "Aah!!!!!". I beleive this symbolises her also commiting suicide like the child.

I also noticed that the mom after the son's suicide, speaks in the same way as the son but it still is kanji. Any thoughts on that?

So, this really reminds me of Tangled. Mother Gothel raises Rapunzel to think the outside world is terrifying and that she'll never survive out there without her "mother" but then goes on to console Rapunzel and tells her that mother will protect her. Its a bit different in this situation but just wanted to point that out.

WAIT I JUST REALIZED THAT THIS SONG IS THE LULLABY THAT THE MOTHER SANG TO HER KID- Edit: also just noticed that the mom refers to herself as a “child/kid” so I’m assuming that’s how she was treated to and internalized and realized this when he left and is like “I’m a useless child that no one will save” because the she never truly grew up she instead stayed a child (shown in how the shadow doesn’t change) and became her abuser.

Huge fan of Kikuo's music, so seeing you go back to what you started with this song was an enjoyable take to listen to. Kikuo's music always seems to be a banger but you are fully aware you shouldn't dance to it- it's almost like Kikuo wants you to take your trauma's hand and dance with it. You absolutely hit bang on to the meaning of the song, once again very enjoyable to listen to what you thought about the song. Even though past peers might have verbally abused you, you'll always be of help to someone. I hope you had a great New Years Shooshi, and best of luck to you in 2021. Fun fact, when I was younger I thought this was basically about a toxic friend dynamic and the one who is being called useless constantly just ran away and got a better friend. My original interpretation the child didn’t even die but revisiting the song after a while I realized oh the child did die but I didn’t realize until watching this video it was about a mother verbally abusing her child. I saw this song via a meme at first and then listen to the full thing when I was like 14/15 I am 17 right now.

As a little fun fact, When the child is a kid, the Japanese lyrics are mostly hiragana and katakana (the most basic alphabet in Japanese and what children start learning, I imagine so that the child can understand), then, when he grows up, lyrics are now written with kanji, and a more adult writing, meaning how he’s maturing and growing, also the mother insults turn more sophisticated bc of the age. Still, when she addresses him as a child in “a cute child, a good child, you belong to me” returns to the initial hiragana. Also this is more of an observation, but when the child leaves, the typography changes to a more round one, so it means the mother is now the one writing and saying that to herself. I love how kikuo represented each character with a different way of writing. (Also, English is not my first language, sorry for any misspelling)

What I believe the mother is doing, from personal mother-daughter experience that was put on me, being the daughter, is that the mother thought that was how to raise a kid because she herself was raised that way, and is manipulating her kid to stay with her by saying she will protect them, giving the kid a false sense of security. Then she will furthermore abuse the kid, not realizing she was in the wrong until it was far to late to fix her mistakes, which brings her back to replaying her childhood and calling herself the same things she did her child, then dying from no longer taking care of herself from a deep depression

Whats probably terrible is that i always sing this song but ive never thought of what is said to the child because i think of myself as the child because it reminds me of when i was with my biological mother when i was little. She wasn't as crule as the mother in the song, but my mother always had really high expectations and was extremely strict. So i would sing the song in a way to myself but it doesn't make me feel bad? (This is me writing without knowing any lore.) I feel this song is about parents verbally abusing their child. In this song, I feel the parent was insulting the child, saying they cant do anything without them. (The parent.) This is kinda proven, hence the lyrics "Youd be dead if it wasnt for me." I think the parent was trying to make the child only depend on them, and no one else, because they thought the child couldnt do anything. When the kid grows up, the kid doesnt have any self-esteem, due to being exposed to verbal abuse at a young age. I think this song was a message to parents, who are saying this type of stuff to their kid(s). Thanks for reading!

What I think That they are kids going to school (I think this because she then calls her self a useless kid) the girl is a bully picking on the boy calling him a useless child but the girl actually had a crush on the boy. She thinks to herself about her actions and then thinks to herself that one day she will save him the girl trying to fit in so she keeps picking on him. one day he takes his own life then she regrets doing everything then she starts thinking badly about herself because she took things to far to end up making someone take there life she then she calls herself a useless kid (Sorry if I'd spelled anything wrong and sorry if my grammar is bad)
