@mahaishraja544912 күн бұрын
great chat guys , apologies in advance for the essay below , but i dont post as often as i like , so i have to get things out in one fell swoop. heres my list, 1 - when i try and predict a game of football and plug the data into my algorithm , i have a close look at the squad match ups , and the attribute advantage of each player in the squad and match day 16. attributes are things like creativity , attack, technical ability , defense , etc, and there are number of data sources in football that correlate closely with each other , so we dont get our measurements wrong its not a pretty picture for spurs. take the everton game . if i ignore the big names and reputations and just look at the player attributes, spurs had an attack advantage in son, kulu, madders and porro, but everton had a defensive advantage in their centerback and two of their mids. overall it was a slight advantage to everton , and my algorithm was predicting the most likely outcome everton by one goal . unfortunately , when i do this attribution test for spurs vs anybody in the league, we get to the conclusion that even against the teams below spurs right now , its very hard to see a clear advantage for spurs on game day , and against the teams above spurs presently , its a potential loss situation. so the loss to ipswitch, the draw with wolves at home , the loss to everton , is no surprise to me and my algorythm . other teams with less financing have used moneyball better than spurs romero makes a difference to this measurement , van der ven doesnt , but that could change with a good full season or two. bottom line , the current spurs squad is somewhere between 10 and 15th position based on squad strength and player attribution , significant investment is needed. 2 this ones on ange and the coaches . defensive organisation. when you watch a football game one of the best predictors of whos going to score more than the other team , is the amount of space and overloads you concede in the final defensive third . in the last 10 weeks or so , and come to think of it late last season , i have yet to watch a spurs game , where i didnt think the other team had 1 or 2 goals in them given the space spurs were conceding and how spurs were allowing themselves to be out numbered in around the 18 yard box . spurs had bodies , but in all the wrong places, the defensive coaches need to be replaced , becuase spurs are a loose disorganized rabble in defense . everton for instance were very organised and they defended the middle of the block very well , the outcome was inevitable , the other unintended consequence is spurs have to work harder to break down the opposition than the opposition has to do to break down spurs , so spurs run out of momentum after 60 minutes more often than not . there needs to be a change of mindset in ange and the coaches , and you have to fight fire with fire. if the opposition is making it hard to break them down because of their blocking patterns, spurs have to do likewise and rely on their strike weapons to make a difference at some point in the game with the more energy they have conserved . 3 the spurs press , and again this ones on ange and coaches, spurs wound back the press a hair or too against man c away , and liverpool in the cup , and look what happened. but then they decide to go charge of the light brigade against others and lose. moral of the story is everyone in the league is too good to get away with the full court press ange wants, and the rest of the league is good enough to find the outball through the press and cause hell for spurs. look at everton, moyes for once in his life decided to press someone, and it was spurs , but how he did it was instructive , it was a midfield press not a full court accept on a back pass . spurs do same in that game , and they win, because of their match winners. the big picture is the squad isnt good enough and thats on levy and the board , but the tactics have to change , or more embarrassing losses will follow romero vandeven, or no romero vander ven and thats on ange and the coaching staff. my algorithm is currently predicting 19 losses for spurs in the league this season, so 7 to go. just finding the right defensive mentor will change things alone. this is not a change of philosophy its tweaking things to remove the rough edges. the league is so tight, incremental improvements on the field will yield big outcomes in the league ladder, could say a heap more, but that will do for today, keep up the great work

Talking about what Ange had at the start of his tenure it interesting when you look back at it, when he was first hired originally it was a 3 yr contract after a couple of weeks he was extended to 4yr. So was it Ange who went to the board and said something along these lines. If you want me to fully rebuild the playing squad we also need to rebuild the football & medical departments as well. Which is going to take about than 2-3 yrs to complete and bed in. When looking at the squad from the outside there were 6-7 players in the squad that I thought were going to be able to adapt to the Angeball system, unfortunately that has turned out there are only 3-4 players that have the skill set and attitude or mind set to play in my quick moving style of football that I play. I need another year on the contract If you want this to succeed in the long term vision I set out to you all in the interview process. I bring this up are your awesome podcast today in which you looked at the mid to long term problems at the club. Keep up the good work

One of the best if not best podcasts out there for Spurs fans. As ever, and without access to the backroom, a lot of yours and others work is based upon supposition. My experience of key position employment is that deals are done well in advance of the general public knowing. On this basis, Ange was well acquainted with Scott Munn, so should we assume that the basis of your discussion, was already well considered by the 2 Aussies and hence Ange's current demeanor and his 5 year contract.

Podcasters with a different agenda have tried to compare us with other teams who have had injuries and are doing better than us. With regards to Bournemouth, they have played less games. 9 in total at the time of this post, and their players have had longer rest periods between games. There are many variables as to where we find ourselves. Lack of squad investment in the summer, combined with the worst injury list in my 6.5 decades of following this Club. Besides that, players have been overplayed, tired, and in danger of picking up injuries. Tiredness goes hand-in-hand with onfield errors. It effects players speed of thought and their decision making, but a few signings could transform us. Believe. COYS.

On Stu’s point about DL’s propensity regarding spending; I think he sees transfer fees as a capital investment - potentially recoverable - but high wages as excessive recurrent - lost or dead money. No club can adequately prepare for or deal with the number of key injuries that we've had this season. I really think it's as simple as that. We're fortunate that it's only really affected our league position so far (we'll finish mid-table I think). I'm really hoping that our luck changes and that we still get a chance to field a strong team in the 3 cup competitions. If that happens, we've got a good chance of winning a trophy.

I just wish we had kept Conte his last season had the World Cup before xmas he had injuries one of his coaches passed away. Then we had players going to the African & Asian Cups, and Conte told his team to attack but it was the Harry Kane show, sad Conte could not control Kane, I read out of 64 plus direct free kicks Kane scored one. The other issue earlier on in the season that affected us I think were the international windows, in particular with the senior players. I have no doubt 16:35 Romero was watching himself cause his priorities in his head were Argentina first & Tottenham second . How many times he got caught ball watching and not tracking runs in behind that led to cheap goals and thus poimts dropped. Sonny as well , Playing for Korea is more important to him , he was useless in the Asian Cup . Its time for him to make the call and retire from international football and fight for the club that's made him quite wealthy, cause now more than ever he is needed to earn his pay check, not rest on his laurels and act like his done enough for the club

These muscle injuries are not a long term or short term transfer issues. These injuries are direct result of high line and needing to run more plus Ange not rotating fatigued players until after they pull a hamstring! If Solanke is fatigued and Richardlison is not ready, why not give Odbert/Yang twenty minutes or a start when we have easy game, already lost the game or are in front 2 or 3 goals! I want him to stay untill the end of the season. After 8 minutes and to be honest even after the team sheet came out you knew playing three at the back was going to be a disaster because of the unfamiliar scenarios this would cause. Everton had changed their formation and this was not the Everton under the previous manager. The warnings were there after their Villa game because they played well and deserved more from that game. We have burnt out senior players because of the lack of rotation due to injuries. Example Pedro has to run the whole bloody game from one penalty box to another he is running on empty. Son unfortunately in my opinion which l have stated over the last three years should not play a full game. He should come on in the last twenty minutes where he would be more effective against a tiring defence. To equal things up for him. No ones really to blame it just bad luck this happens in life and in my seventy years on this planet l have seen happen many times to people companies and it's not there fault lts the hand you get dealt with at the time. Unfortunately the spoilt game boy generation have been brought up on the notion that you are in control of your life, bad news your not. Fate is in charge.

Lower wages are not a tell of lack of ambitions. If world class players are not coming to Spurs than there is no reason to pay world class wages! World class player wanted by Real, ManC, Barca, BM, Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal are not coming to Totteham even for 50% more wages! That is why Levy is buying junior and up and coming talent! I dont get the narrative "you hate Ange because hes Australian". Spurs have not had an English manager for 10 years? The 5 managers before Ange were all from different parts of the world. Im American. I wouldn't go and follow another PL club if an American coach took charge. I didn't stop supporting Spurs when Marsch went to Leeds. I dont like the job Ange is doing, thats all. I'm not blindly supporting him, especially if he were to get Spurs relegated. Or if he finishes 15th or 16th, half of the better players in the squad put in transfer requests and the top players we need next window will not join because theres no Europe and the manager looks clueless. If youre an experienced player performing well at another club. Whats selling you to join a sinking ship? 18 yr olds might be all we can convince to join.

Bottom line Levi won’t spend but I’ve no idea why we not loaning then there’s ange if he’s not running our players into the ground and then bringing them back to early he’s only got one way of playing. We don’t have the squad to play this way as for our players there being asked to play in a way I doubt they’ve ever played. The club is a complete mess from top to bottom and once February has been and gone so will ange then we will back with Levi it’s really not good.

Levy isn't being altruistic, he's playing a numbers game. Ignoring the need for more players costs nothing, keeping Ange in costs nothing & what manager would want to come to Spurs now? @OhSoSpurs12 күн бұрын
It's an all but impossible task to succeed if he isn't given major support over the next 3 windows. At least Levy has changed his typical stance and is far more patient with Ange. Any previous manager in the history of Spurs under his tenure would have been sacked.
