I will have to disagree with you on a couple things you mentioned about corals. When you mentioned starting with softies then moving to LPS/SPS, it kind of contradicts your earlier statement about saving money on corals. From my experience and what I’ve seen the notorious “easy softies” such as GSP, Xenia, Kenya tree, etc are typically viewed as a nuisance once people get more experienced and wish they never added them. Unless a persons long term goal is to keep softies I would suggest saving the money and getting they types of corals you want to keep long term. There are plenty of easy LPS corals and even some easier SPS. The other point of waiting to add corals can be debatable for softies and LPS. Unless you plan to keep your tank dark for the first few months you can add corals once the tank is cycled. You even get the added benefit of adding additional bacteria for more diversity.
