I scanned the survey beacon and just see 9 little red arrows scattered across the map. So my trio just speedran the game - they were also all bots

Well, to have seen Merchant stream solo vs trios on multiple occasion, it is pretty clear how the matchmaking system works. I’ve watched Merchant get destroyed on drop for more than a hour straight on multiple occasions. Literally drop from ship, dead, lobby rinse repeat, to the point I question if he is sane. If you do so poorly for so long, eventually the game gives you an easier matchup to make you feel better. Even the worse players of the game gets a win from time to time. It keeps them engaged. If you do too great, then they throw you into a pro lobby with two trash teammates. Happens to me all the time. I lose several games painfully, then I get an easy one again.

Precisely. This is the EOMM (engagement optimised matchmaking) that they use in place of SBMM (skill based matchmaking). Respawn claims they use SBMM and not EOMM, but if that were the case then people wouldn't be matched up against preds way above their skill level AT ALL, LET ALONE then drop down to bot lobbies because the game wants to keep you interested on the off chance you spend money on something. It's predatory and manipulative and has made me stop playing Apex. They introduced it at the end of season 2. Anyone around from launch will remember all of the reddit posts and angry tweets about the ruined matchmaking, people saying "why am I being matched with preds?" Now that's the standard.

They keep saying they understand our concerns on the system and that they are actively changing it, but it's all corporate talks. They already know since a long time how to do a proper SBMM, they just won't do it.

The matchmaking for this season has been better for me than previous seasons. I like to play early in the morning and that's when I usually do my best, when the server population is low and the lobbies are really random and also filled with about 5 actual bots per match. This is pretty common knowledge if you played more than a few hundred hours in Apex. It's pretty easy to recognize that on the weekend the servers are full of everybody and no reg hits. But Monday morning at 3 am, it's a weird mix of high level players and absolute newbs. The server I play on is pretty low on population I think, because sometimes I will get these "bot" lobbies at 4 pm and then other times it's late night/early morning. Also, theoretically, if you are playing solo, you should be matched to a lower lobby. EDIT: if you want to find the real bots, some will join groups, but a large amount of them just fall solo from the end of the drop ship ~ sometimes you can find like 5 of them dancing around using their "q"

People have to understand that pro players like itztimmy will only ever post games where they win and/or high damage/kills and not the dozens of other matches they played hours prior where they die right off the bat or didn't win. I actually respect @thegamingmerhchant b/c he never shied away from showing his deaths/blunders whether it's good for viewership or not and it one of the reason why I started watching in the first player, when I watch your videos/streams I feel like I see how matches go realistically, keep up the awesome work!

The issue with your very, very stupid statement is that, you know, predators make up like .3% of the population. You would generally be fighting other golds and diamonds and masters, which means only the worst players would be having a bad time.... Which they do in sbmm anyways since low level lobbies are mostly just stepping stools for smurfs and rising diamonds, masters, and preds

I can’t confirm this, but I feel the matchmaking in the Mixtape modes carry on into your Trios matches. I find the lobbies incredibly easier after winning a few TDM/Control/GR matches. Try for yourself lol

No. Because I don’t have a 20 and I’m significantly better than my friend who did drop a 20. You can drop a 20 and be bad, you just gotta be lucky. She’s got a below 1 kd so her lobbies when she doesn’t queue with me are a joke, and she stole a ton of kills. Ending up with 20 slims for 2060 something damage last season. My best games include examples such as a, 3600 for 16, 3800 for 15, 3800 for 18 and a 4560 game for 10. My Kd is like 2.81 this season and hers is not even a third of that. There is no reason for her to play in “sweat lobbies” when she’s precisely the person who’d get rolled in sweat lobbies. My point being is I willingly play with her, but she’s not great. I would not want to be the random actual sweat who gets her on my team in a random match and have to carry her against three stack sweats. It wouldn’t make sense.

Something i think some people need to realize is that maybe they just are good enough to be in the crazy hard lobbies even if u dont have the crazy badges try looking at the badges on the deathboxes of people you kill you might be surprised with how good some of them are

Let's be honest for a minute, the "Skill Based" part of SBMM is meaningless. What they are doing is just EBMM (Engagement Based Matchmaking): They give you hard lobby so you die a bunch => Got into a bot lobby, win or at least do a lot of kills / damage => get dopamine shot => play again hoping to find another lobby like that.. That's what Pubs player have to deal with everyday. Obviously, when you play as often as you do, you're less impacted because you can actually do something against these player, well, more than most of us anyway. It's so bad. That and audio being non-existant is what made my friend and I stop playing this joke of a game.

I play in the Dallas server and most of the time i play during the day but I will be playing solo and still have to face 3 stacks of preds or players that all have damage badges and even tho I play on Xbox one I get put in lobbies with PC players(this happens more in non br modes) but Im still having to play in lobbies where I dont feel like I have an equal chance of winning the game compared to other players and teams in the lobby.

It doesn't work like that, you will only be matched against Xbox or PS players. Only way to fight PC players is if you queue up with one in your party.

For someone who's not a god at the game but is just above the average player is so too painful to play solo this season. Nobody is playing ranked(No Wonders) and pubs are so sweaty that I'm mainly playing mixtape this season after getting to master in a week by playing normally. Now even mixtape is super hard( pc player in console lobbies included) with tons of bots everywhere and bored masters and preds 3stacking in control like it's algs. This game want me to quit and matchmaking is always the reason I take long brake from apex. So sad that the most beautiful fps has the worst mm and rank system at the same time after 17seasons running.

i always play against really sweaty players XD when im chilling with friends or alone (which most likely is with friends) but even then, if we are playing well, we easily kill a lot, but also die fast sometimes, but playing alone is a different story, my teammates are usually bad/not so good/not good at that moment and die fast without doing almost nothing even if i knock or let one shot some of the enemy team. My lobbies are normally from 19 or 20 to 22 EU from spain, google says its UTC +1 but my pc tells me that it should be UTC +2 in case you want to know real time

Just make it so anyone who has hit diamond or higher in the last 3 seasons are paired with each other in lobbies until they are demoted to gold or lower. If there aren't enough in a server pool them together, they already do that anyway. Easy fix, sorts out them whining about waiting for a long time for match, sorts out high rank players in low rank lobbies and skill disparity, sorts out problem with people saying oh I used to be diamond season 1 but now i'm more like silver player.

Barely keep a positive k/d, usually gold4/plat1 when I play ranked. I’ve spent all night playing solos, actively trying to tank my k/d. I have 8 kills and 43 deaths this season, still seeing nothing but masters and pred. Their matchmaking is horrendous. Legit the worst I’ve ever seen in any game by far

Matchmaking is indeed needed in pubs, to a degree. But I think strict matchmaking in pubs isn’t actually a good idea. Ranked should do a better job at matching players of equal skill together- pubs should offer variety. And YES, Masters and Preds can find themselves in “specifically low SBMM lobbies” (bot lobbies). But those high MMR lobbies absolutely exist (where like 95% of players are 4k 20bomb High Diamond to Pred). These lobbies exist! So that means that at any given time, the sweats are indeed being lumped together.

Ranked is arguably worse now than pubs with accuracy. I got diamond players queuing into my bronze team and now that I’m D4 I’m getting like one gold and one bronze player now. The fact that SBMM exists in a rank system where the only discerning factor should be rank is so bad. Pubs is honestly more accurate because it’s ONLY based on your match history. If you’re doing bad you’ll slowly get an easier lobby. If you’re doing good you’ll keep getting into harder lobbies until you die off rip over and over. Rinse and repeat.

I haven't been receiving RP equivalent to my games and kills. A win with 8 kills in ranked only gives me 250 RP whilst my friends are receiving over 600. I dropped into a solo ranked match (I'm in gold 2) and quickly realised that I was playing with masters players. We came 3rd in our match and tried to play again, but saw that they were in masters and I was in good. It's a nice laugh, but what is even this game at this point.

Something is wrong with mines, im rarely home playing im a trucks driver play twice a months hightest kill is 8 around 2600dmg. Getting ppl in predator, 20kills badge or have more kills with a new legend than my lifetime playing apex(I've been playing apex since day1). I think my problem is my region then bcuz since I came to console since mobile is gonna I haven't gotten more than a three kill game never over or close to 1000 damage and I get smoked in every lobby eventually I've even had two players wit me above thousands of kill and majority of the time they die B4 me and most the people I get champion squad with are usually around my level or a lil higher like they have played for awhile but not enough for levels prbly 200+

along the same lines as the topic of this video, what i dont understand is watching pro players and content creators get away with things that would be instant death in my lobbies. like i know they are better than me but i would never cross hammond field because people take my head off in my lobbies but yet i see people like Aceu and Timmy do it all the time and its just free.
