Just sharing: In my current gameplay, my main family is super duper rich due to each generation contributing a money tree grown in their basement so I made this as their blessing which is passed on to every first born thus they automatically get the house once their parent is dead. However the money tree also curses the family in dramatic ways like deaths, cheating, unstable relationships etc. They love their money and status too much to give up the privilege of endless amount of cash. The only way to break the curse is to get rid of the money tree but no one wants to do it. Bonus: they also have death flowers growing in the basement will they use to sprinkle onto flower bouquets to kill those who knows of this big family secret but to everyone else they're just a normal family.

@@zari5972 It depends on each gen. I try to give them different storylines and tropes. Recently for this one gen, my sim wasn't the heir but had to become the head of the family immediately after his older brother died from being killed by an enemy and their father dying from a "heart attack" over mourning. He becomes the most eligible bachelor and asked for his brother's ex fiance's hand in marriage to secure a business deal between their families but she rejected him. But then her cousin approached him in order to help secure the business deal as her own family's business might go bankrupt if they don't do. He agrees thinking it was the right thing to do and they had 2 daughters. She was already in love with him but he wasn't that into her so he went to have an affair while out of town and she caught him and then died of being heartbroken. He felt so ashamed of his actions and focused all his energy to raising his 2 daughters. Eventually he started dating people and ended up falling in love with his younger brother's ex gf who was way younger than him. His eldest daughter hated him for it because she was old enough to remember the whole affair and blamed her father on what happened to her mother. Then he created more chaos when he intimidated his eldest daughter's bf so that he would leave her and he did. Imma stop here because I could go on and on. 😅 But I will say I tend to be more hard on my male heirs than my female heirs but I'm working on it so that the female heirs face hardships too. 😅

I ruin Sofia Bjergensen's life every time, not sure why other than she's one of my fave sims, so i enjoy giving her a redemption arc. She'll act out, party, not do her studying and be wreckless, meanwhile Elsa is the perfect little sister. Sofia always seems to end up with Luna when i rotate my gameplay, which i think is super cute that they fall in love. Utilizing the club system and holidays is the easiest way to add gameplay. Get together is truly the most underrated pack then it's University (which is super fun when you actually take time to do things that arent studying)

I did the widowed story line and it made me SO MUCH MORE attached to my sims. My sim married Duane Talla (her high school sweetheart) and they were setting up their dream life in Sulani (her family was from Willow Creek) when he drowned. She was pregnant with their 4th child. Something about her having to move back to Willow Creek because she couldn’t stay in Sulani, raising all the kids and eventually helping with grandkids was very difficult but added so much depth. Every time there are lots of new family members I go on a family holiday to Sulani and having family ties to the islands is so fun.

One storyline I did was a normal family with 2 little twin girls, one was sporty, rebellious and just awful and the other was polite,calm and incredibly girly. However over time, their traits began to switch, so once they were teens they turned into complete opposites of what they were as children.

Absolutely for the consequences. I sometimes get bored and take my Sims to the shark pond or play elimination with pufferfish. I have found if I have a family I've lost the run of I split them up and move them to different worlds and revamp them by making a tragedy happen like the death of a spouse or something. Too late for it I'd say but longer consequences to actions need to be introduced. 2 to 3 days is the most anything impacts your Sim and then it's like nothing happened.I think two Sim weeks should be the length of the mourning moodlet always there but not always prominent.

The only thing that worries me with that is the fact that you even mourn an acquaintance.. they would have to overhaul the death mourning in order for something like that to not be game breaking. My sim is sad every day from a new death currently. It isn't even possible to play with aging on outside of the active household or everyone is just constantly sad.

I have some: 1. Have an adoption center and have an elder to run it. You need to turn off the auto aging for this. Adopt 6 children (3 toddlers and 3 babies. Why 3 babies? Because it's like a blindbox where you don't really know what you're getting 😂. Choose 3 toddlers that are more unique looking for more fun!). Story line: An elder been working in this adoptiom center for awhile. All she/he/they needed to do was to take care of the children and the place. All of this for free place to live and she/he/they even get money for their job and for a child support! Easy money. Because the elder been working for years, she/he/they despised children. While having toddlers, the job was to clean the place, provide food and to wash the stinky toddlers. When they become children, washing part is checked from the caregiver list because children can do it for them! This letsplay adds more sims to the town and they already have skills not like npcs. You can keep one of the sims in the adoption center to be a new caregiver. Or you can play as your favorite from all of the 6 children. Another one: a teen lost their mother, she died, they were left with a father who is lazy, is sitting on couch 24/7, not working, eating only junk food. The teen is doing everything to keep the apartment, they are going to school, after or before school they go to their part time job, they are cleaning the apartment, fixing everything. They can't wait to grow up, save up, move out and leave the lazy father in the apartment alone.

Tip for staying invested: Create a world around one theme/idea and keep making new families for that one world Few examples: 1)World filled with royal sims(could be in medieval times or like today's royals, there's a realy big community around this play style and I suggest you check out the Royalty Mod) 2)Apocalypse(Zombies etc.) 3)Occults (Each world has different occult families and they have wars, allies etc.) 4)Celebrities/Hollywood (Only create celebrities and make your Sims game a walking celebrity drama website filled with scandals and fame)

Something that might be fun that has occult sims is if they don't know that the rest of their family are also vampires or spellcasters, so they're running around trying not to expose themself until they eventually do and realize that they aren't the only one in the family.

I did the dead parents one. I created a family with two parents, a sibling about to go to college, a teen sibling, and a toddler sibling, and then killed the parents and made it to where the college sibling had to balance life and taking care of their siblings. Super difficult. But fun.

I've done the widow parent thing before! In mine, the mother was actually unemployed because the father made plenty of money. She focused more on her passion even though it didn't earn much. So when the father died, suddenly their income was gone and the mother had to figure things out, eventually getting a job that wasn't really her passion just yet to put food on the table. Was realistic because things are not always taken care of. It happens so suddenly and there is never a time to be ready for death. (Also, the adoption one? Can vouch, you will absolutely get attached to the adopted kids because you kinda just imagine their life before the adoption and how happy they are to have a new family..... unless they aren't.)

I change the pregnancy chance percentages and start a club where doing romantic things, woohoo ing and stuff is the activity and have my sim woohoo 4 different guys in the same day and then check the genealogy when the baby ages up to toddler

Currently I have a family now. She was a teen her boyfriend was also a teen. They fell in love and he accidentally knocked her up. They're young adults now and have 5 kids, two teens (twins) a child and two toddlers. He works hard. She is doing a college course, knits and does odd jobs for the extra money. They recently moved and were able to expand the house a bit to have enough room for the kids.

One thing I would totally recommend is rotational gameplay. When the new Cottage Living pack came out I really wanted to test out the lore in the pack by playing with some of the families in the new world. Totally would recommend if you have the pack!

Oh my God, you just helped me realize why I like boring ass family gameplay! I was *super* rebellious as a teenager and... well, actually up until I was 25. I've already done all the rebellious things. So it's nice to get to the Sims and just have them stay at home and go to work and level up hobbies. I mean, I like some variance in my games but I don't do a lot of dramatic story lines. That being said, I may try out your bunker idea. I'm *really* into that storyline... could make it like that movie Blast from the Past where the family finally emerges when the kids are adults and the children have to acclimate to society and they fall in love with someone.

Get this: Golden child syndrome You play as the unwanted child with the perfect sibling that can do no wrong. Currently setting up a new world for my save file where the grandparents are really well off so the unwanted child tries to live with them. However, I thought it would be too easy if she just split from her parents so I thought it would be more of a challenge if she beats her grandfather in chess as a way to take a chance with her. One of the requirements for her to stay would be to have good grades and start working as a teen. Not the typical after school jobs but as a writer or youtuber. Something that could potentially be of high reward in the future.

I have an arc similar to the "rebellious" teenager one you described, Taylor, with the perfect rich family with her other perfect siblings including her twin sister, but unfortunately, she recently died. The rabbit killed her. I was pissed at first, but I am playing out her death and the effect it has on her perfect family who has everything but doesn't now. It has really added depth and dimension. Sometimes these random occurrences give you the best storylines.

I built a small 2 bedroom cottage last year that I called Grandma's Cottage. Well, I recently decided to create the family for that home. My plan started off simple... Grandma raising her 2 grandchildren because their mother was young and very much pre occupied with partying & having fun, but I also wanted to have the children's mother in the game. Well... this family has now grown to include the grandfather, a grown son & his wife and 3 kids, the son's in-laws, and sister-in-law & her wife and adopted son. Then the 2 baby Daddies, one of which has started a new family, and a new boyfriend for the mother! It's crazy & chaotic, but I love that the family extends beyond the one household!

Series of unfortunate events is a good tv show on Netflix. But you can also make the storyline in the sims 4! Move your sim (preferably under or teen) to different foster homes, and if you want, add a evil person um- OOFING their foster parents.(if you really want to copy the show, add a secret society...)

Well, I have like 12 generations in my current sims save now, lots of families, lots of sims, so I need to come up with different storylines. The craziest storyline I've came up with so far was the story of two evil siblings and their rivalry. They both worked in the criminal career (different branches though) and lived in the mansion inherited from their parents. Neither of them wanted to leave the house, they couldn't agree on how to split the money, so they lived together hating eachother. One night, one of the siblings tried to burn the bedroom of the other sibling (so she would die). In the end, about 1/4 of the mansion was burned and they both died... Edit: they were twins btw

Speaking of the divorce one. In my current household my sim's husband cheated on her with her best friend and they got a nasty divorce. The ex-husband and ex-best friend had a couple more kids and my sim eventually found someone else and had another kid. That other kid and the ex-best friend and ex-husbands kid ended up married 💀 (I had no clue that was their kid cause I couldn't remember the ex-best friend's last name so I got a pretty rude awakening when I saw his family tree 💀)

My favourite gameplay ideas are: Single broken mom: Mom fell into alcoholism and so the hubbie (or wifey) divorces and somehow the kids were left with bad mother. Bad mother has a very bad relationship with kids and is very abusive but one day she decides to turn her life around and tries to give up her precious drinks and is trying to rebuild her relationship with her kids. Lazy parent, Good parent: One parent is fat and lazy, refuses to get a job and always makes excuses AND is rude with anger issues. The other parent is handling multiple jobs while trying to take care of the kids and keep their partner happy so they are very stressed but they don't get a divorce because the bad parent is manipulative and keeps making the good parent seem like the bad one. The kids are trying to help good parent get out of this toxic relationship.

OKOK additional idea :) If you have Sims 4 get to work then you know you can make a bakery or restaurant or whatever so what if on the outside your food place (or whatever you want but food is the main one) it looks wholesome and stuff-but why is there screaming in the basement? Oh yeah all the people you locked down there so they'll make the food for your restaurant. Add-on to this: put the steps to the base ment in the kitchen, you can have them go up and down from the basement and kitchen if you want but make sure your door is only available for you.

I become more invested in my sims when I give them realistic dilemmas. Stuff like that really adds to gameplay. When they work through their "dilemmas" I give them new traits it's basically character development. I had a married couple in one save and I made it in CAS so the wife couldn't have kids and overtime she would fall pregnant. I ended up changing my mind switched it up and had the husband have an affair I made the wife divorce him and adopt a baby to prove she didn't need him to have her dream of a family come true. I got so invested in it. After a while the wife gave her ex a second chance this time she fell pregnant but the husband cheated again. She left him for good raised the kids on her own and became a single mom and a fashion guru. I was so proud by the time I completed everything. I felt like I wrote a book through Sims lol my favourite thing about this was the bond between the mom and the adopted kid. My all time favourite save.

Another fun thing is to make fun sims characters. They don’t always have to be your generic pretty sims having a family. Some funny examples are the sweet granny who is a serial romantic. and don’t try to be too sexy with it, just make your typical floral print wearing curly grey haired granny. Once these sims are well played out and developed I safe them and add them in my village as own unique and fun characters. Maybe this time sexy’ol miss Robinson will give my generic young adult sim a rose :)

She lives in an apartment, she likes to go to the club in windenburg and she throws lots of house parties. She’s hooked up with Joaquin in the club closet once lmao. My current storyline is my main sim was married to her husband (Dirk Dreamer) for a long time. After getting pregnant on a first date, they got married and had 4 children. After the birth of their last child, she finds out Dirk slept with a club member and got her pregnant. After he came clean, My sim and Dirk got into a big argument and she wanted to separate. He was mad and argued with her and she got angrier and angrier and died of a heart attack (anger). Feeling guilty and now with the overwhelming responsibility of being a single father of 4 children (2 children and 2 toddlers), he decided to give them up for adoption. The two older kids went to a couple in Sulani and the two younger ones went to Brent and Brant Hecking... And that's where I'm at now lol

I have one that is kind of hard because you have to keep all the relationships a secret from most sims, its about 4 sisters, they all live in the same house, and the oldest got a boyfriend, he is a complete cheater, but the funny thing is that he only cheats on her with her sisters, the second oldest is the most evil one and she wants to steal her older sister boyfriend so she flirts with him and tries to get him to break up with her sister, if he gets with her its all up to you, the middle one has never seen the boyfriend, and one day out she meets this guy and she starts flirting and maybe woohoing with him, without knowing that he is her sister boyfriend, almost same storyline with the youngest, and how all the drama ends up like is all up to you

My favorite storyline rn is that I built this big modern house. Moved in all my young adults some are cousins siblings or just friends. They're all studying or starting their career and they're just having fun living together finding love and partying all the time. Kind of like friends. Once they're adults I'll have them marry and settled down and move out to their own homes 🥰

Let me share my storyline, its a little long but is quite deep... it goes like this: My first female sim named Karina marries Charles, a very wealthy man who works in the military, as soon as she turns a young adult as an arrangement between charles and Karina's parents. A bit later Karina becomes pregnant and Chatles decides to go loose on the alcohol, becoming an asshole to Karina and to baby Johan, their fist born baby boy. Karina, in a desperated attempt to live her life and forget about Charles for at least a couple of hours, she decided that when Charles goes to work, she was going to "meet new people online" using her best friend's phone (covering tracks). After having a couple sexual encouters with Johnny Zest, karina becomes pregnant, so she decides to get sexy and busy with Charles to make him believe taht he was the father, which worked perfectly. That exact same thing happened four times with four diferent online strangers and now Karina and Charles are raising five kids: Johan, Sonya, Rachel, Jade and Jason. Later on, Charles starts feeling very ill so he called his family Doctor and after some bloodwork and other stuff, the doctor told him that he had AIDS. He freaks out and tell Karina what the doctor said and she acted shock and betrayed (even though she knows it was her fault because of her promiscuity). She then filed the divorce and took most of his fortune, leaving him almost money dry. Charles died a short time later. When Sonya turned into a young adult, Karina got very ill so bad and fast that she died a very fast death, leaving her kids orphans. It was up to Johan and Sonya to raise Rachel, jade and jason. After all the suffering, Johan finally finds love and gets married, leaving the full household in Sonya's shoulders. With 2 kids and a teen to take care of, Sonya decides to get a job plus a side job selling fresh produce. Meanwhile, Rachel secretly started to have a "sugar baby life" (using sugar life mod and whicked whims). She started making money and spending it in luxury clothes, fancy foods and later on, on drugs (basemental drugs mod), which leads her to die from an overdose in her room. Sonya could not bear with Rachel's death on top of Johan moving to Evergreen harbor, so she decided to sell the house, leave her current jobs and move to Willow Creek to begin a new chapter with Jade (about to turn a teen) and Jason. Im still playing with them and now Jade helps Sonya with the fresh produce job so Sonya can stay at home and take care of her and Jason... there is where im at right now. I know is kind of raw and realistic but that is how i like to play sims 4. Big hugs!!!!

The way I do it, if I’m going to, is make them young adults, but still make it out like their teens and when adult comes around that is there “adult” age. I enjoyed the ideas! Thank you!

I have a war storyline going on with Strangerville. It's the Sims vs. Mother. I have a army base lot and random sims from different sim worlds are drafted to battle mother. It helps create all sorts of drama.

Fun storylines. Another idea for a family storyline is to have two parents and one teen. Either the parents only wanted or could only have the one child and then, whoops, they have another baby and the teen is all out of sorts about it after having been the only child for years and years and the parents kinda ignore the teen now that they have a new little one.

I just started a new vampire storyline for one of my Sims families. This is a young adult couple with twin girl children. The Wife's husband's stepfather is a vampire as is his mother, but she was turned after Clarence was born. These two staged a home invasion in which Clarence was beaten and bitten by his stepfather and his wife, Saya was put under a hallucination and then turned. She wasn't exactly sure what had happened to her but she started researching vampires just to be prepared for what might be in her future. She continues to eat food even though it nauseates her and refuses to give in to her strange thirst until she snaps and attacks her husband. This horrifies her and she promises herself that she will satisfy her thirst with plasma packs. This works for a couple of days, but the allure of real human plasma is too much for her to resist and she begins to leave the house after her husband is asleep in search of new victims. That is where the story stands right now. She will not practice her powers at home, but her vampire powers are not the only ones she may use on her nightly ventures. Saya is a beautiful woman and somewhat of a seductress. She already practices the evil of vampirism, and it may be only a matter of time before she finds herself betraying her marriage vows as well.

When I first bought the vampire expansion, I started off with a journalist that moved into the vampire village to investigate. Long story short, he married Vlad and became a vampire himself lol. He became famous from his job and had an awful reputation. As he became the mastermind if the manor, he locked up thralls to feed on in his basement. His son, trying to follow his evil legacy, moved out of the house and became a vet. He tried to pass off as human and he actually had a good reputation, but what people didn't know is that he extracted blood from pets using the surgery station 😭 that's all I did in the storyline, I think maybe one of hsi daughters would try to find a cure or smn but that's still at odds

I started a rags to riches type legacy challange once by having a teenage sim get pregnant and be kicked out of the house by her furious parents (I use the woohoo wellness mod, so obviously this isn't something every player can do, but it was a lot of fun). It was quite the challange to try and make sure she and her baby had a roof over their heads, (especially in short lifespan, so I kept needing to buy new things for the toddler and then child super fast) manage her part time job and her school grades, until she aged up, and then see if she even married her boyfriend or not.

The first one reminded me immediately of my Ever After Legacy challenge. My first gen heir died before I could finish their goals, but I didn't want to stop playing with that family. So I made that the entire personality of my 2nd gen sim, which also matched with the goals and everything. She was crazy, I loved her 🤭 Then the 3rd gen also got affected from their crazy parent, which also played well with 3rd gen's goals. I'm on 4th gen now and they do not have a good relationship with their mother (she had twins) and decided to move out as teens, bcs they were tired of not having their parent present.

ya i couldn't let my sims go pass on when i knew about cheats i know not the best way but yea i was too attached to my first family and happy the dad is still alive or i should say my husband in the game lol. And since then i still have them all alive because it's the attachment thing though. The only time I played with occults was when I made this super normal couple, like, the most vanilla you could get. Both family oriented and generally nice people, she was a graphic designer, he was an engineer, if I remember correctly. They found this suspiciously cheap house in Forgotten Hollow, and, yes, the place is a bit creepy, but the neighbors are nice (maybe a bit too nice?) and, again, the house is so cheap, perfect for a couple of newlyweds straight out of uni. Anyway, one of the lot's traits was "on a dark ley line", and when she got pregnant I was lucky enough to immediately get a baby vampire. Of course, the couple didn't suspect anything - at first. The storyline was, of course, inspired by Rosemary's Baby. I only played until the baby became a teenager and unlocked her vampire powers, because, as it turns out, I didn't have as much fun as I thought I would have playing a vampire, which was a bummer, but I did enjoy the concept I kind of came up with.

As a stay home mom still in my PJ'S at 5pm with my hubby picking up supper tonight, I feel personally attacked. Jk lol. During baby's naptime I've been working on a story of a single dad with triplet boys. Made the kids VERY different with mods to help. They are built off the school tropes of jock, nerd, and punk. They try to help their dad find love in their own ways. And the dad tries to keep them out of trouble. But they don't make it easy for him.
