IFA Wartburg - Sorbisches Fischerlied

Too few people write songs in the Sorbian language today, especially when it comes to songs about fishing. It has been estimated to be no other band than IFA Wartburg who does that.
This song was released on record in 1999, as a tribute to the Sorbs and the art of fishing.
We deeply recommend you to sing it as loud as you possibly can every morning when you are strolling down to the river Spree for some fish catching.

Gute Fische in dem Flüßchen Spree Sind bei Tische ein (can't really understand that word, sounds french tho) Aber mische nicht mit Kalbsfilet So eines gibt's nicht in der Spree x2 Hoffen wir auf einen großen Fang Müssen wir arbeiten, Tage lang Gutes Bier und guter Arbeitssang Sind dann besonders von Belang Hoffen wir auf einen großen Fang Müssen wir arbeiten, Tage lang Gutes Bier und guter Arbeitssang Ergaben einmal (can't understand this one either) Mit dem Hellen (they mean beer) oder weißen Wein Die Forelle schmeckt fantastisch fein Frikadellen lässt der Fischer sein Vielleicht doch gehen sie ihm rein (I think that's what they sing) (I suppose this part is in Serbian) Some lyrics are incomprehensible, even for native speakers. Sadly, IFA Wartburg isn't german, therefore they have quite a lot of grammar mistakes, which make it hard to fully understand what they are singing, especially over the loud music etc. Hope I could help you tho. Serbisches Fischerlied aus Norwegen auf Deutsch

Sorbs are a minority in Lusatia in eastern Germany (they have nothing to do with the balkan nationality). Think of them as another sibling in the westslavic language family like the Czechs for example. Also, IFA Wartburg are Swedes, I had one of them as a music theory teacher in Stockholm.
