Adrian always keeps your thumb on top of the starting handle, that way if it backfires while starting the handle spins out you hand, of you have your thumb below the handle and it back fires it will break your wrist, seen it happen

I work on a concrete pump here in Dublin and we dump about Half a meter or more at the end of every day so if you ever see a concrete pump near you us pump driver's are always looking for a place to dump out the Hopper at the end of a pour and we are happy to give it away so we can wash out because it Start's to go hard if we have to drive to a concrete plant to wash out.

Great video Adrian, my cousin was a builder, he had the same mixer, i worked with him, it had to be washed every time it was used, he still has it, and his son uses it now, great wee mixer!

I couldn't help but think of Dan (Escape to Rural France) when watching the lesson on cleaning cement mixers! I'm not sure how he treats his current one but his old mixer was in an incredible state. At one point Dan dropped so much concrete around the base that the mixer was cemented to the ground and he couldn't move it. Of course he always banged the drum with a hammer. My parents bought an ancient electric mixer maybe ten years ago, a 3-phase beast, probably from the 60s. It's beastly heavy compared to a modern one the same size but with new bearings it will probably outlive all of us.

The bowl comes off and it’s a Crossland 489 or equivalent filter in there.give the bowl a twist with a pair of slip jaw pliers as it tends to bite in to the O ring. We used to Wax oil ours before they went out on hire and then when washed the cement used to just flake off.

@@IFarmWeFarm another useless bit of info, if you find the handle is too close to the panel you straightened, there is a starting dog which the starting handle locks on, this sometimes gets knocked back on the shaft, remove the big panel and the round guard and you will see that the starting dog is adjustable as in you can slide it along the shaft and keyway.

The sediment bowl does come off give it a gentle tap it should come down the engine it's self first got produced 1960 finished production 1990 they are 1hp upto 3hp good reliable engines if you want any second hand parts any time let me know I've loads here
@thatmrking3 жыл бұрын
We bought a 3 point concrete mixer which does nearly 1 cubic metre of concrete which is large but we have concreted our yard with it as it's cheaper than a lorry. We use a mini digger to load it, its ran by our 100hp plus same and two of us have used it perfectly. It would be ideal for you to pour your shed floor or pillars or concreteing your yard
@thatmrking3 жыл бұрын
Also you mentioned the shed we have an entire shed made of esb poles you can get like 20fts for the roof beams and 15fts for the pillars, auger a hole about 3ft deep, place your pole in, half Barrow of concrete around it and then put your 20ft poles on top in whatever way you wish and you can notch them and join them with esb bolts. We notched them like half way for the joints. Then you can get 4 x 2 boards, notch them slightly into the top poles and you can bolt your sheets to that and you have a fair cheap shed, I can dm a pic of the shed on Instagram if you wish

I spent years doing my bricklaying apprenticeship on one of them mixers seen more of the shovel than the trowel in them days but making up for it now have never put me trowel down in thirty years, why did you not get a pan mixer for back of tractor although value wise that mixer is ten times better and engine is bullet proof so I suppose it makes sense but pan mixer is great as can fill it with mini digger and is the best mixer for floor screeds👍

You might connsider using second hand RSJ's salvaged from other buildings for your new shed. A bit of fabrication involved but between yourself and maybe a few days work for a fella handy with a cutting torch and a welder , it'd save a pile of money . Fabricator by trade here and happy to advise further.

get your self a bucket full of beach pebbles the size of your fist from the coast, use them to clean the inside of the mixer after each use, works a treat! a good lick of paint that mixer will be around for a while yet... i prefer painted clean machinery... get some heat resistant sealant and put a bead of it around the seal areas... for the scraper... then use a light jet wash to clean it....
