Based on a research project "Informality and Covid-19 in South Africa" conducted by Dr. Chaymaa Hassabo (Associate Researcher, Department of Sociology, University of Johannesburg).

Exactly the same happened here in Lima-Peru! The informal worker and people living day by day are the truly forgotten victims of the COVID-19 government measures. Peru, where I live, has tens of thousands of Venezuelan refugees. They were hardest hit because most of them have no extended family or communities to rely upon in times of crisis. It is said, that one life is worth the same as another life. I beg to differ, the lives of the destitute people of the third world are not worth the same as the lives of the elderly stuffed in aged care homes and the infirm of the first world. Hard truth to swallow. I hope as many people in the developed countries in Europe, Australia and the USA see this documentary and start to think really hard about how the actions of their governments and instituations affect indirectly the actions of governments in less developed countries. What is the catch cry of the social justice warriors: "check your priviledges"! Yes please start really doing so!
